22 – Good plan, I like

“Are you kidding me?” Melina almost yelled. “Dimensional hopping? That’s like… you have no idea how rare that is, do you? You need to have an ability or innate talent to make it even remotely possible. Otherwise… I have heard stories but… Only the most powerful of people can freely roam the wide multiverse.”

Ishrin was a bit taken aback by the unexpected rant. “Okay, forget I asked.” He said. “And pretend you don’t see what we are about to do here, might be for the best.”

“Why?” she didn’t get the joke. “Tell me.”

“Let’s just say that it’s not really as hard as you make it out to be once you know the rules of travel. If you know how to navigate the currents, and know how to open a rift, it’s actually quite easy. It used to be child’s play for me before I came here.”

“19 minutes.” Lisette reminded them.

“Let him finish.” Melina said, she was not being very patient. Her face was focused, and her orange eyes were fixed on Ishrin’s.

He shook his head. “I am not powerful enough right now, unfortunately. That’s why Mekano had to be brought in ghostly form and only for a limited time. Otherwise, we could have gone there to grab him ourselves.”

Melina’s jaw was at the level of the floor. “But why did you mention it in the first place if you can’t do it?”

“Because I think I have a patchwork solution. But I need someone with at least rudimentary understanding of dimensional magic to help me.”

“We don’t know any. Hell, I didn’t even know it was a thing.” Melina said.

“You didn’t know dimensional magic was a thing?” Ishrin asked, perplexed.

“I did. But I never thought it would be possible to extend it to multiversal travel. At least, not at my power level. I always thought about it as something that would eventually be relevant, maybe, in the far future, and never gave it too much thought.”

Ishrin frowned, almost saying something that popped up in his mind but stopping himself before it was too late. Making a joke about Melina being a country bumpkin was not the best of ideas right now.

“I…” Lisette began but stopped.

Ishrin turned to study her expression.

“You know something, don’t you?”

She shook her head.

Ishrin’s eyes narrowed. “But you do have some hidden qualities, don’t you? I have been watching you. Look at this, what do you see?”

A scroll appeared from thin air, and the two girls didn’t even see the window into the other world that was Ishrin’s inventory open up before it was already gone. He held the scroll aloft, right in Lisette’s face. She stared at it blankly.
