51 – Cyberpunk world

The appearance of a ley-line was a recent event. An occurrence connected to what was happening in the now volcanic regions north of Noctis, where the other realm had opened soon after Ishrin first came into the world of Prima Luce. There were theories as to what was happening there, and especially the members of Ishrin’s party had their own theories in light of what happened in the mountain realm. The guild officers in Noctis too made analogous connections, drawing parallels between the two events. However, at least as far as Ishrin and party were concerned, they opted not to talk about it, not to concern themselves with the matter until they were back from Mekano’s world.

In a flash, the majority of the latent energy trapped in the ground vanished. Of course, it would once again fill up in a matter of days unless the actual cause of it was removed, but this was of no concern for the people standing inside the ritual circle. A vortex, different from anything any of the three – four if you counted the little holographic construct of light in the shape of a pixie resting in a pocket – had seen before, appeared on top of their heads. The wind picked up, and clouds gathered in a swirl that could very well become a storm. As the rain began to pound the dirt around the three people, colors and lights began to grow bright and soon, they were away.

“The world we are about to visit is profoundly different than the world you are from,” Ishrin had told the party before beginning the procedure. “There will be many alien things, things that will not make sense to you, things that will confuse you. It is a world of technology, so advanced that it will look like magic of a sort that you have never seen before. You will need to stay calm, attentive and most of all never lose sight of each other. Stay with me and do your best not to get lost or distracted. Dressed as we are, we are bound to attract a lot of attention. Let’s hope we don’t encounter too much trouble.”
