Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Hero’s banquet

The knights escorted us back to the castle and into a large room, not as large as the previous audience hall but it was still quite spacious. Inside the room were two rows of long tables and chairs which could probably seat 30 or 40 people each and at the very front was another long table but with much more ornate chairs and it was also raised in a dais. 

Only the seats near the dais were left empty as every other seat already has someone on it. The knights stopped at the doorway while several maids took over and led us to our seats, the ones near the dais. Everyone stood up as we passed by them and bowed down before seating right back and enjoying their meal. 

Food was already set up on the table where we were led to, and the food was looking scrumptious. Someone’s stomach even made a sound as we saw the amount of food on the table. There was an assortment of food items on the table, a whole roasted avian, not sure if it’s chicken, duck, or turkey though, a whit   ish creamy soup, several meat dishes, what looks like mashed potatoes, and bread. 

Some of my classmates hurriedly sat down and filled their plates as if they hadn't eaten for days. Even some of the people who were already at the table were quite surprised at their behavior. Unlike my other classmates, my friends and I calmly sat on our seats and got our food in an orderly manner. 

Servants approached us and offered drinks, they served us either wine, mead, or ale. I opted to get the mead because it is the only thing that I have not tasted among the three. The mead and the ale were served in wooden tankards while the wine was served in a wooden goblet. Most of the boys ordered mead or ale while the ladies ordered wine. 

After a few rounds of drinking most of my classmates were already a bit tipsy, I on the other hand was just finishing my 6th cup and was still perfectly fine, back on earth I should already be a bit tipsy after drinking 2 or 3 servings of wine. I guess this mead has a lower alcohol content? I can’t actually even taste the alcohol in this, all I can taste is the sweetness of the honey. 

Sometime later after we began eating and drinking the doors burst open and a herald announced, “Presenting the Royal Family led by His Majesty, The King.” 

Everyone in the room stood up as soon as the announcement was made, I followed along and stood up. My classmates were too tipsy to stand up straight, so they were helped up by servants, except for Marvin who was still in the middle of gobbling up the food on his plate. The King entered the room followed by a woman, a lady and 2 boys. The woman is probably the queen, she looks like she's in her early 30s, the lady behind her must be the princess and she look about our age same with the boy following her. The last to enter was the boy who may be around 14 or 15. 

They proceeded to walk to the dais with everyone bowing their heads as they passed by. Marvin, finally satisfied with his meal, stood up just as the Royal Family was about to pass by our seats, his eyes glued to the princess. "Good evening, Your Majesty." he said with a bow trying to look gentlemanly before facing the princess. 

Bro, you literally have some unwiped meat sauce in your mouth and now you try to act gentlemanly? I complained internally. 

"I am the hero, Marvin Lepantos, a pleasure to make your acquaintance, your highness." He introduced himself. 

"The pleasure is all mine, Sir Marvin." The princess replied followed by a curtsy. 

After Marvin's introduction, the royal family headed to the table at the dais where they sat down, except for the king who remained standing. "I have invited you all here today, my most trusted and most loyal followers, to celebrate the successful summoning of the heroes. Let us raise a drink to that." 

Everyone raised their cups and yelled, "" To the heroes. "" before drinking the whole cup. 

The servants around the room refilled everyone's cup before The King continued, "For the prosperity of the Kingdom, may they fulfill their tasks as the heroes given to us by the gods." 

"" To the kingdom. "" everyone yelled before once again emptying their cups. Servants once again refilled their empty cups and The King continued again. "And finally, may they be prepared to give their lives to protect my reign and my family." 

"" To the Royal Family and to The King, Hoorah! "" 

Wait what!? Did I hear that right? I looked around me only to see that my friends and classmates who’re being supported by servants raising their cups. “” Cheeeeers “” Did you guys not hear what the king just said!? 

After the King’s toast everyone sat back down and continued the merrymaking. Everyone except me. I was still reeling from what the King said just moments before. I didn’t even notice that a servant was actually tapping my shoulder. “Uhm, sir hero? Please take your seat too.” 

“Ah yes.” I replied. “Actually, I would want to return to the mansion, I’m feeling unwell all of a sudden.” 

“Certainly sir, if that is what you wish.” The servant said, “but it would be wise to tell the king that you'll be retiring for this evening.” 

“I will.” I replied back before standing up and going to the king, once in front of the king I bowed my head. “Your majesty, I would wish to retire early from this celebration because I am suddenly feeling unwell.” 

“Of course, I’ll have a servant accompany you to your lodgings.” the king answered before he called a maid. He whispered something to the maid before pointing towards me, the maid did a quick bow before gesturing me to follow after her. 

“Youw weavin aweady~” Cess grabbed my arm as we passed by her, “Youw no fun Jan you stay and dwink mowe.” 

“I think you need to come with me to the mansion now.” I said to her as I removed her hand. 

“Booo, im shtwill not dwunk, ill stay and dwink somemowe.” She replied as she turned around and chugged another cup of wine. 

I just hope they won’t make any scenes here.  

As we were about to reach the doors, it opened up and Mr. Antonius came entered. He saw me and he greeted, “Ah, retiring for the night already?” 

“Yes, Mr. Antonius, sir. I suddenly feel unwell.” I replied. 

“I see, may you rest well this night then.” He said before waving me goodbye and going on his way. 

“Sir hero, let us get going now.” the maid called out to me. 

“Yeah.” 

The maid led me through the castle and outside until the mansion was already in sight. 

“I can take it from here, you can go back already. I’m sure you’re needed there.” I said to the maid. 

“I will escort you until you reach your room, sir hero. That is what I have been ordered to do.” She replied. 

 “But-?” 

“Sir, orders are orders.” she replied flatly and went ahead of me, so I just gave up and followed after her. 

She knocked on the door and it was opened moments afterwards. Two rows of servants greeted us as we entered, just like when we first entered the mansion a while ago, I guess the servants have their permanent assignments? 

I turned to the maid who accompanied me, “Thank you for accompanying me.” 

“There is no need for your thanks, sir hero. It was my pleasure to accompany you.” she replied with a bow. 

“You can go back to the castle now.” I said to her knowing that she had already fulfilled the order to accompany me, but. 

“My deepest apologies, sir hero. But my duty is not yet over.” she answered. 

“Huh!?” 

The maid dragged me upstairs and led me into one of the rooms. Oh, nah nah nah. I don’t like where this is going. “Please stop!” I tried to break free from her grip, but I couldn’t for whatever reason. What the hell!? Why is this lady’s grip so strong!? 

The servants just watched as I was dragged into one of the rooms. “HEEELP!” I yelled but most of them just grinned as if they knew this was going to happen. 

Someone even replied, “Don’t worry sir hero, we’ll be the ones cleaning up afterwards.”

The maid threw me on the bed before she locked the door. Lady, you’re way too strong!! No way can you just toss me like that. After locking the door, she stared at me with a salacious grin and began to strip as she made her way towards the bed. By the time she reached my side she was only down to her corset and drawers. 

“Let me complete my orders now, sir hero.” She whispered in my ear before she nibbled on it and kissed me on the lips.

At the banquet just moments after Jan left. Antonius stopped beside the King and whispered in his ear. “Your Majesty, the otherworlders’ guards are already down. I’ll be activating all of the domination crystals now.” 

“Do what you need to do.” The King whispered back. 

“But what about the irregular?” Antonius asked. 

“I’ve already sent someone that’ll ensure he’ll be on our side.” The King answered. 

“And here I was worried for nothing.” Antonius said before leaving the King’s side and taking a seat. Under the table he took out 12 marble–sized crystals with glowing dust swirling inside. 

One by one, Antonius crushed the marbles as he said the the otherworlders’ names. The dust inside the crystals would settle on whoever’s name was mentioned by the holder when the crystal was broken. 

The already tipsy otherworlders were knocked out cold once the dust settled on them, except for Marvin who continued eating and drinking. The other people in the room paid no mind to the knocked out otherworlders as they are either too busy eating or too drunk to notice what’s happening around them. 

The King, noticing what Antonius did, stood up and called the servants “It seems like the heroes are already out cold. Please escort them to their lodgings.” 

Without missing a beat, pairs of servants supported each of the otherworlders and carried them, everyone except Marvin who decided to remain, out of the castle and into the mansion. By the time they arrived there Jan’s little misadventure was not yet done, and the servants found the mansion’s staff waiting by the door of the room. 

The head servant, in charge of the group, called out to the mansion staff, “What is happening there? Help us with the heroes.” 

The mansion staff outside Jan’s room were spooked by the sudden call, “Erm, one of the heroes and the Castle’s head maid are inside.” one of the manor staff said. 

“Damn that whore, does she think she can advance through the ranks just because she has those massive udders and a pussy?” The head servant spat out. “No matter, that whore doesn’t concern me in anyway. Now help us carry the heroes to the empty rooms.” 

The manor staff rushed down and carried the heroes to the empty rooms until every room was occupied. The castle servants left the mansion as soon as the heroes had been laid in their individual beds, but not until the head servant gave a message to the manor staff. “Tell that whore to come to the castle as soon as she’s done fucking around, got it?” 

“Understood.” One of the manor staff answered. 

The castle servants returned to the feast and found a drunk Marvin out cold on the floor. The head servant knelt before the King, “You’re Majesty, all the rooms in the mansion is already occupied.” he reported. 

“Carry the hero to one of the guest rooms in the castle then.” The King ordered. 

“By your will, Your Majesty.” The head servant said before he stood up and called other servants to carry the drunk Marvin. 

The King called out 2 maids and ordered them to follow them and attend Marvin. Shortly after Marvin was taken to the guest rooms the King and the Crown Prince retired to the study accompanied by Antonius. 

The three of them sat around the table, the crown prince poured drinks for everyone. 

“Antonius, did the domination crystals work as intended??” The King asked. 

“Yes, Your Majesty.” Antonius answered. “The dust immediately took effect on 11 of the otherworlders while it took a little bit longer on the 12th one, the one named Marvin.” 

“He’s the one who was appraised first, am I right?” The King inquired. 

“Yes, Your Majesty, he was the one with the job of Hero and he’s the strongest among the group, status wise.” Antonius answered. 

“We better have him under our control as soon as possible then.” The crown prince interjected. “Before he could gain any resistance or whatsoever.” 

“Fear not, my Prince, even without hypnosis or the domination crystal, I am sure that we can easily control him.” Antonius answered confidently. 

“Oh? You’re very confident about that, huh?” the crown prince asked with a tone of sarcasm. 

“That one is too self-conceited and proud, easy to manipulate.” the King answered in Antonius’ place. 

“Furthermore, that otherworlder might be easily pleased with material items. Just give him something that would further boost his ego and you will surely be able to tame him completely.” Antonius added. 

“If even my father shares the same opinion as you, then I have no more quarrels that the one named Marvin is easy to control.” the Crown Prince said. “The issue with the otherworldersis all sorted out now, right?” 

“No, your Royal Highness, there is still one otherworlder not under the effect of the domination crystal.” Antonius answered. “The irregular one.” 

“Ah right, the irregular, the skill less one. Am I right?” The crown prince replied. 

“Yes, your Royal Highness, that’s the one.” Antonius said. “We cannot just create another domination crystal because it takes a lot of effort and precious materials to make one.” 

“Do not worry about him anymore, I have sent Anna to take care of him.” The King said.  

The Crown Prince nods in approval after hearing what his father said, “If he’s under Anna’s spell, then we really don’t have to worry about him.” 

“I’ll be waiting for her to get tired of her new plaything then.” Antonius said as he stroked his beard. 

“Let us have a toast to another successful summoning then.” The King said as he raised his cup. 

“Cheers!” 

Their scheming and drinking continued well into the night which only ended once the Crown Prince was out cold. Antonius excused himself and called several servants to carry the prince to his bedchamber. Left alone, the King once again stared into the dark sky. 

“I’ll achieve it soon.” he muttered. “soon.”
