Emperor William, who has a judicial range on the whole continent of Gram, has four children from two of his wife.

The first Empress of the nation, Irene, has two children with her husband. The eldest prince Cain and the eldest princess Tiara.

The second wife of William, Tasha, gave birth to the successor of the throne, Mikhail, and the youngest of the family, Princess Catherine.

Except for Tiara, the other three don't get along with each other or say; Tiara is the only one who interacts with her brothers and sister more often.

Despite being siblings, Catherine and Mikhail also doesn't share a close bond due to some reason. But since the latter had hefty jobs to handle already, he couldn't sit and ask his sister what had gone wrong.

There was a reason why Mikhail, despite not being officially announced, was still called the prime successor of the throne, even though there was a competent and worthy first born too.

Mikhail undoubtedly was a worthy warrior who had proficiency in Elemental Magic, and coupled with his wits and sense of justice, he became a proper subject for the next Monarch.

But Cain also had the same qualities. Although he was weak with mana, he still had a lot of potential in the arsenal. Then why he wasn't considered next to the throne?

The reason is Cain's vulnerability to manipulation.

From very thorough observation, it has been conceded that Prince Cain's judgment can be influenced if the influencer is slightly good with their words.

The First Empress did try to get his son educated about such weakness, but all futile. He is just too easy to fool. He quickly trusts someone as their ally and might consider a friend a foe if convinced.

The choice became clearer with Mikhail's day-by-day achievements in different fields and the stupidity Cain introduced.

One of those deeds he did, in someone else's words, was to pursue a woman with whom Cain never belonged to.

Without him knowing, his sister Tiara had been manipulating him for a very long time, and tonight, too, she has molded his anger and given him free rein to get together with the Saintess of Humanity, Luna.

It was around eight in the evening when Luna returned to Austin's room. Since her dorm was given to Saya, she has practically started cohabitation with Austin. Even though he wasn't present today, she had other ways to cover herself in his presence.

Strolling lazily through the garden, Luna suddenly felt someone approaching before a voice called out for her.

"It's been a long, Luna-san."

The voice was unfamiliar but not the face. Luna did have to ponder a little, but soon she recognized who the person in front was.

"Greetings, Your Highness."

Luna bowed a little while lifting the hem of her skirt as she greeted the first prince of Gram.

Cain's heart fluttered violently upon seeing Luna from this close after a long time. He instantly felt the urge to walk forward and hug the beauty who had made such a mess of his heart, but he held himself for now.

"You have become gorgeous, Luna. Even more from the last time, I saw you."

Luna didn't recall when she met him last, so she just smiled in gratitude. She wanted to end this conversation and run back to Austin's dorm, where his manly scent awaited her.

But...

"Would you care to join me for a cup of tea? You see, I came here to meet Tia, and I don't feel like traveling in a carriage late at night. So I thought, why don't we have a chat when we get the opportunity?"

Cain had some resorts prepared in case Luna rejected his invitation, which he was expecting more as an outcome. However, it seemed Luna also was interested in talking with Cain.

With a bright smile, Luna didn't contemplate for long before responding.

"I will be delighted to."

_______...

The two of them moved toward the reception hall built on the western side of the main building. Since it was close, they, or rather Cain, chose the place.

On the way, neither of them spoke because of their own reasons.

Cain was incredibly elated, but the anxiety was blended in his feelings as he tried to suppress his grin and escorted Luna toward their destination

The reason why Luna was silent....was rather complicated to define.

The guards at the reception hall entrance immediately became alert as they greeted the royal highness in unison.

""We pay our greetings to the Royal Highness, Prince Cain-sama! "

"Hmm. "

Cain didn't bat an eye at the guards before he walked toward the door, which parted from the inside upon his arrival. If observed closely, one could see how hurried he was to invite her inside.

Without hesitation, Luna walked just some steps behind the prince as she also entered the hall solemnly.

However, just after the doors closed on her back, an ominous feeling made her heart numb as a chilling sensation ran through her spine.

Her facial expression was indifferent until now, contoured in anxiety and perplexion as she felt a familiar sensation weighing down her existence.

Looking at Cain's back, Luna heard him saying something which made it clear who was behind all this.

"I apologize for doing this, Luna but... "

With a big grin that showed his inner desires, Cain turned toward the panting Luna as he marveled at such a sight before speaking in an excited tone.

"....I can't hold myself any longer."
