Realizing the woman in front of me was a heroine, countless thoughts resurface on the top of my head. The likely chance of meeting a heroine was incredibly amusing and unbelievable. Honestly, I completely even forgot the heroines.
They all suddenly went poof out of my head. I'm too focused on my own life, that I completely forgot about them.
“Justice, huh... Wait a minute, if you’re a detective. Why didn’t you help me earlier?”
“Ya’ stupid? Do I look like someone who can fight? I’m an investigator, not a fighter. Plus, you didn’t ask for my help.”
I contemplate it for a few seconds and said. “Right...” ‘She got a few loose screws.’
“How’s your knee? I saw you limping when you’re fighting earlier.”
“Give me a few minutes. It’ll heal up.”
“...Huh? Can you repeat it? Looks like my ears are hearing things.”
“I said it’ll heal up for a few minutes. Are you deaf? It won’t take long, don’t worry. Now that I think about it... It still did hurt like hell when that guy stabs me. I guess I need to cut and stab myself more, huh?
“You’re the psychopath, not me!”
“Oi—! I’m not! It’s called increasing my pain tolerance! And, I’m being careful about... it... Nonetheless! It fucking works! And, I can heal myself!”
“...” Rinna with a look of contempt.
“What?! There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s a simple practice that involves self-inflicting myself, but nonetheless, it works. Now that I realize, looks like I’m poisoned from the stabbing earlier.”
Taking off my clothes and inspecting the wound; I saw the wound closing itself. Rinna also watches it heals itself with a face of bewilderment.
“Wow~! That means I can cut you?” Rinna exclaimed in amazement.
“Hell no! Where did you get that idea?!”
“Ah, sorry. I’m overtaken with excitement.”
Because of her remarks, I slowly back away, putting a distance between us. No single person would say that, regardless of its curiosity. She's crazy.
“Hey, where are you going?” Rinna said.
“You’re creeping me out, go away.”
“It’s only a slip of a tongue! I didn’t mean to say that.”
“Yeah, right....”
In response, she lowers her gaze. Rinna’s bunny ears are flapping adorably that it’s urging me to touch it. There’s one thing that makes me weak—it’s the adorable fluffy creatures.
Despite what happened earlier, the urges inside me can’t help it, so I instinctively grab one of her ears and pinch it. The softness of her fur indulges my senses.
“Kyah—!”
“Wow, so soft.”
“Waaah—!”
Rinna leaps back feet away from me. It goes without saying, she’s not happy with what I did. Because of that, it made me heartbroken—The fluffy ears were out of my hand.
“W-Why are you touching my ears!”
“It looks fluffy. Can’t I touch it more?” I said with a hint of sadness.
“No!”
“Okay...” I lower my gaze.
(What a cute lady~ I like her Claude. And Claude, someone is still alive.)
(Okay.)
I stand up and scans the surroundings to check every corpse. There seems to be one missing, the one that I stabbed in the chest. That person is missing. I close my eyes and heightened my senses, then I caught a figure fleeing away, limping.
[Shifting Point]
However, I teleport myself somewhere far from where the person was. Using my teleportation without using my peripheral vision was too hard for me. Even with a month of training, I’m nowhere near on my using it decently. I always end up somewhere opposite or randomly.
Right now, I’m getting light-headed from using [Shifting Point]. Therefore, I run with my feet, following the fleeing assassin who’s fighting against me earlier. The knee tendon that was cut earlier was fully healed with Diana’s help.
The crunching sound of my footstep running through the forest was heard by the person whom I am following. Upon noticing it, the assassin threw some small knives at me while limping away.
“Solais”
I fend it off with my sword easily. Since the person shows signs of retaliation, I speed up and cut off one of its legs.
“Aaaah—! You monster!” the guy screamed at me.
From the voice, it's a guy.
“Seriously? Are you seriously saying that? You guys attacked me.”
I uncloak and removed his mask, revealing a pale-green skin, large ears, wide jaw as its lower fang shows out of its mouth. At first glance, I would say it’s a goblin because of its slim figure, but seeing its facial structure, it’s safe to assume it’s an orc.
This made me grimace, so I stab the tip of my sword on its arm.
Instead of replying, his agonizing cries almost took my ears out.
“Shut up!” I yelled.
Unexpectedly, the scream made him shut up from its cry and was not looking at me petrified.
“Tell me. Who sent you?”
I move my sword close to its right eye. He’s staring at it with fear in his eyes. Out of nowhere, a feminine voice to my right was teaching me how to interrogate.
“You won’t get anything from him if you’re pointing your blade at him. Look at him, he’s so scared. How do you expect him to speak properly?"
It was Rinna who said that to me. Surprisingly, she manages to catch up to me, so quickly.
“What you want is. Cut off each limb one by one, until the only thing that remains is his body and head.”
“Wow, excellent tip!” I exclaimed sarcastically.
“Karadoh, ka, ka!”
“What? Is this orc language?” I look at Rinna for answers.
I act dumb despite hearing this guy earlier, speaking the same language as me.
“Yeah.”
“Then it’s useless to get anything from him.”
I raise my sword, preparing myself to cut the head off the orc. It suddenly took out small knives and aimed them toward Rinna, so I took action and strike its head; killing it before he could even throw the small knives between his fingers. The gouge of blood after stabbing my sword on the side of its head was gruesome. I stare at the corpse with a cold gaze.
“Let’s go, I’ll send you there. “I said to Rinna.
“E-Eh? O-Okay... Thank you.”
“No problem.”
Rinna follows me all the way back to the villa; however, during the trip, I stayed silent as I’m trying to calm myself down both mentally and physically. During the fight, I’m only imagining them as the creature from last, but seeing the last guy died in my hands.
I’m conflicted by it.
A living being died on my hands. In this world’s standard, killing a person is normal. The quote ‘Only the strong one survives.’ was the perfect representation of how this world works. Being weak-willed will get me killed. That’s why I need to remove that part of me if I want to live long in this world.
What's hard would be that they act like humans despite being in a different race. I know they will kill me, but I just can't help it—It's probably unconscious. My hands are clutching on the hem of my shirt trembling.
“Looks like, you’re not used to killing people, huh? That seems to be a surprise from Saintess Irene’s disciple.”
“It’s my first time killing a person intendedly.”
“No kidding? 'Amazement' is the only word I can only think of in this situation. Considering Saintess Irene’s position, I thought her beloved disciple would be someone who experienced cruelty and lived a harsh life.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Nothing, it’s just a narrative. But doesn’t it look cool, if your backstory was like that? A boy who lives in the slum with a strong will to live. Then one day, a goddess descended from heaven helping the hopeless poor boy. Helping him to become one of the strongest people in the world. This is his story. Doesn’t that excite you?!” Rinna said with an over joyous tone.
“Yeah, it kind of does.”
I hold my chin, imagining how great that story would be.
“Fufufu~ And then, on this fateful day, the young boy met the sophisticated genius detective of the century—Rinna Monnet! In the name of justice, she will solve every crime with just the snap of her finger! Unraveling countless mysteries of the world! Her name shall be known across the land! Rinna Monnet!”
I clap my hands as Rinna was spinning around joyfully while telling all of that to me. Her bunny ears are going up and down—Tempting me incredibly, biting my lower lip to hold my urge. It looks so fluffy!
Shortly after, we arrive at the front of the villa. In front of the villa was the grumpy-looking Stephanie with her hands on her side like a wife who caught his husband on something, beside her was—Lily who had tears falling from her face while clutching a transparent silver magic crystal on her chest.
Of course, how would I forget the girl who assaulted me earlier with a kiss—Clara. As usual, her face was looking at me indifferently; however, the aura that’s she exuding around her doesn’t match at all.
“Where did you go?” Stephanie spoke first.
“Somewhere around here, just getting some fresh air.” I awkwardly smile at her.
“With a...”
Stephanie notices the bunny girl beside her, who was waving at her joyfully. And her response, she averts her gaze on the side.
Definitely guilty.
