Chapter 6: The Second Day

After my nap, there was no particular harassment, and I was ready for my second day at the forest camp.

After finishing breakfast in the dining room, I headed to the front of the mansion compound where we were to assemble.

There, I found the general students and the teachers already lined up in rows. I spotted a member of the disciplinary committee among the crowd and hurriedly lined up next to His Highness prince Grayson.

“Good morning, Your Highness.”

“Good morning. Did you sleep well last night?”

“Yes, I slept very well.”

──── A stone was thrown into my room.

Without saying that, I smiled.

There were no witnesses to yesterday’s vandalism incident other than myself, so it’s not a particular problem. Or rather, no one had noticed.

“I see. Then, that’s good.”

His Highness Grayson, whose expression softened slightly, narrowed his eyes.

I nodded at him enthusiastically, “Let’s do our best today.”

“For this year’s forest training camp, we will be divided into two teams, one for collecting medicinal herbs and the other for hunting animals. Both teams will need to go into the forest and move around, so we’ve been allowed to dress in the same knight’s uniform that we use in class. Then ────”

Nigel explained everything to us dressed in the school’s knight’s uniform.

While listening to his easy-to-hear voice, we checked it against our own information. And we were relieved to hear, “It seems that there is no error in the information conveyed.”

“That’s all I have to say about the activities. If there is anything you don’t understand, please ask me anytime.”

Nigel reminded the students, ‘Don’t leave any questions unanswered.”

Even though it was a villa managed by the imperial family, the forest was dangerous, and they probably thought it would be a disaster if anything went wrong due to a lack of confirmation.

“Finally, those who want to be in the herb gathering team should go to Silas-sensei, and those who want to be in the animal hunting team should come to me. Each team will go into the forest, so please refrain from doing anything on your own. With that, we will end the morning assembly. ──── dismissed.”

With a glance at silas-sensei sitting on the flower bed in the mansion, Nigel-sensei ended the morning meeting.

Instantly, the general students started to move and rushed to the teachers.

While the masses were on the move, we, the disciplinary committee members turned our attention to Dina-sama.

We nodded emphatically to Dina-sama, who hinted at the possibility of a lost child.

I don’t want to be sent out on a search mission and vowed, ‘Let’s never let them out of our sight.”

With words of encouragement, we were told to disperse, and we started moving in unison.

As we headed in separate directions, our only thought was to get the job done as quickly as possible.

As I moved away from the group of girls, I was approached by His Highness Grayson.

“ Miss Charlotte, I know we are in different positions, but let’s both do our best. I’ll be cheering for you from behind the scenes.”

Perhaps because it was the first time for us to be separated, His Highness Grayson went out of his way to send me a cheer.

I’m sure he didn’t mean anything deep, but I’m honestly glad that he cares about me like this.

I loosened my cheeks and nodded cheerfully, “Yes!”.

Smiling and laughing good-humoredly, I gave a small bow to His Highness Grayson and we parted.

Then, in a good mood, I went to where Silas-sensei was.

Surrounded by students, he is for some reason watering the flower beds.

He seemed to be oblivious to the stares of those around him as he quietly went about his work.

Seeing Silas-sensei move at his own pace, I was a little taken aback. I couldn’t even muster the energy to pay attention to him.

Even tampering with the flower beds owned by the imperial family without permission… Sirus-sensei is a really reckless, or rather, free-spirited man. …… Even now, I’m starting to wonder if he’s the right teacher to lead the herb-gathering team. I let out a loud sigh as I muttered, “I vote we start acting alone on the way.”

While I was wondering whether I should call out to him or not, a young man appeared from among the general students.

He was the one who held all the gazes around him, and he slowly approached Silas-sensei.

“Excuse me for interrupting. All the participants of the herb-collecting team are here. It’s time for you to get ready.”

It was His Royal Highness Crown Prince Leonardo who insisted, “Please do your job properly” with a soft demeanor.

With his abundant beauty, he quickly snatched the jar from Silas’s hand. He then handed it to Isaac-sama, who was waiting behind him.

He must have been trying to get Silas-sensei to take an interest in the forest by removing the rain and Dew from his sight.

He looked alternately at his empty hand and at the students on the herb-gathering team, and let out a “Oh.”

Finally, Silas-Sensei took in the whole situation and laughed, “I had completely forgotten about it.”

Relieved that he remembered his role, I turned my attention to Crown Prince Leonardo and Isaac-sama.
