<Taro PoV>

It’s a bright sunny day, I’m reading a book in the palace garden.

I'm in a walled garden, it’s like something out of a painting, with golden grass and flowers from every color in the rainbow.

The trees have pitch black trunks and white leaves, while the sun is shining brightly but it’s not too hot, it’s perfectly warm.

This garden is way more beautiful than any other place I saw in my past life, it’s not even close, yet the goddess was still much more beautiful herself.

There's a familiar maid watching over me, she’s a big sister type with white hair and blue eyes, and she has cat ears and a cat tail of the same color, though disappointingly the cat ears are where her normal ears would be.

She’s wearing a maid outfit you’d see in a videogame or an anime, but not a pervy one, it’s very modest and cute, her black and white dress shows basically no skin.

The only weird thing about it is that she’s wearing a leathery black collar, but every servant seems to be wearing one, so maybe it’s just a weird custom of this world.

Her name is Paine, and she’s been taking care of me since the moment I came to this world, though she’s not my mother, I heard she passed away when giving birth to me.

It has been 4 years since I was born, and I’m now able to understand the language of the people around me, mostly thanks to Paine, she has been very accommodating to my increasing thirst for knowledge.

I’ve been trying to absorb as much information about this world as I can, from its history to the everyday minutia, the only thing I haven’t been allowed to read is books about magic.

Apparently I’m too young for that.

I am allowed to read about geography though!

There are 3 great powers in the Pectus Terra continent, The Occam empire in the north, Micaea in the center, and the Walkman expanse in the south.

Micaea has massive mountain ranges on both of its borders, creating a natural divide between the 3 powers.

Out of the three the Occam empire is the biggest, from what I’ve been able to gather it might even be larger than all the land on my previous planet!

This is only one continent of many, I’ve been able to read that 2 more exist, though not much is known about it, thinking about the sheer scale of this world is enough to give me vertigo.

And not only that, but I’m the prince of this Occam empire!

Needless to say, but every time I think about that fact I get even more vertigo.

My new name is Ragnarokarc Super Gandhi de Vainilla, my mother gave it to me before dying.

I want to die too.

What’s the deal with that name?

I’m the hundredth prince of the Vainilla royal family, so at least I have no chance of becoming emperor.

I’m a normal boy at heart, after I deal with the demon king I’d like to live a peaceful life in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, maybe with a nice girl I can raise a family with…

“Prince~” Paine grabs my cheeks!

Paine got bored and started picking on me!

It stings!

“Ahaha, I’m sorry prince.” She plays with my cheeks a little longer and then stops. “You just looked so cute! I couldn’t resist.”

I rub my cheeks…

“Ahh, you look like a little scholar.” She laughs to herself while her tail trails from one side to the other.

I grab it!

Revenge!

“Haah! Prince prince! Please let go!” Paine gets as red as a tomato while begging me to let her go.

Hehe.

“I’m not interrupting anything?” I hear a skeptical voice entering the garden.

I immediately release her tail.

Half a dozen people enter the garden, the one at the front is a tall teen with neat blue hair wearing an ornate silver armor and he’s carrying two wooden swords.

He’s one of my brothers, El Hermano de Vainilla, the 84th prince.

At his side there’s a young lady carrying a wooden sword, she doesn't look much older than me, she has long pink hair and is wearing a doll-like dress with many pink layers on the skirt, I have no idea who she is though.

And behind them there are 4 knights wearing silver armor, but theirs is less ornate than El’s.

“Prince El!” Paine bows respectfully while sweating bullets.

“Ah, don’t mind me, I came here just to clear my head.” He smiles warmly and approaches me. “Brother, I see the rumors of you being an avid reader are true, it’s very impressive for a young boy like you to care so much about the written word.”

“Thanks…” I hide my face in the book.

“Haha!” He ruffles my hair. “You certainly have a bright future Ragnarokarc!”

I want to die.

I don’t like my name at all.

The little girl pouts, clearly she doesn’t have a lot of patience, though that’s normal for a small kid.

El laughs. “This is Pastel, our younger sister.” El pats her head. “I was going to teach her some basic sword techniques, do you want to join us?”

I nod nervously.

“Perfect!” He gives me a wooden sword, but then looks at Paine. “There should be no problems, right?”

She shakes her head furiously and bows. “Of course not prince El! We just finished today’s lessons!”

“That’s good.” He ruffles my hair again. “Let’s begin then.”

He walks to the other side of the garden, in front of us and proceeds to slash at the air.

“You need to keep proper posture when using a weapon, so watch closely…”

El proceeds to give us various demonstrations of proper posture, and the best way to slash and thrust.

“Now, this is just the basics, once you truly master the blade, you can do this!” His wooden sword begins shining and he cuts one of the trees with it in one swoop, falling inches near Paine, who simply stays still while sweating profusely.

Pastel seems completely entranced by this performance.

It is quite interesting, I can’t wait to do this myself.

“That is intent, sword intent to be more specific, it’s different from normal mana, but you guys are still too young for that technical stuff.” He smiles cockily. “Now, I want to demonstrate the proper way to defend oneself, and we can use this opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, both of you, show how much attention you paid and come at me!.” El says in a challenging tone.

Pastel immediately jumps up in excitement and attacks him, crudely swinging at him, but the wooden sword is clearly too heavy for her and El blocks her effortlessly.

“Not bad at all, we have all day, so let’s train to our heart's content!”

The sky is orange and me and Pastel are on the floor.

We spent all day trying to hit El, but none of our attacks even came close to him.

Pastel is sleeping soundly on the grass, snoring cutely.

So cute.

I never had siblings before, it feels really good to finally have a family by my side.

“It’s already this late?” El asks, surprised at how fast time had gone by. “Let’s do this again sometime, just call me if you want to train again at any time broski, I’ll be sure to make time for it.”

Broski…

El gives a glance to one of the silver knights, and they gently grab her. “I have some other duties to take care of, so I’ll excuse myself now” And he leaves with the rest of the knights, just like that.

How cool!

“Prince, did you have fun?” Paine sits next to me and pets my head.

“Yeah…” I’m feeling tired…

“Then that’s the only thing that matters.” She moves me a little, so that my head is resting on her lap.

It’s too comfortable…

I feel my eyes become heavier and heavier as drowsiness engulfs my body.

“Prince~.” Paine holds me, and I fall asleep.
