I don’t remember a lot of my first childhood, but I doubt anyone has clear memories of theirs, just that it was agonizingly slow, and you’re always “too young” for something. Childhood as Celestia was different, the years passed in the blink of an eye, and suddenly I knew I was going to be thrust into the wide world with gloomy professors and manipulative headmasters.
-Excerpt from Celestia Ravenclaw’s journals, on childhood.

Years have passed since that first night. I’ve gotten used to this life. Mother Rowena raised me with love and care, but also a firm hand as I was considered an adult already. Now when I was Emma I didn’t let anyone decide my life, and I certainly only became more narcissistic and independent upon becoming Dovakhiin or Dragonborn. It was a balance of her wanting to push me in a certain direction, but where parents normally say “because i said so” to their children, she had to use logical arguments to convince me why I should spend time on a certain topic.
Potions was one such thing. During the last five years we were focusing on my magical education, theories, concepts, anything I didn’t have to use a wand for (we’ll get back to that later), but potions is one concept I will never understand. We compromised and I will at least become adept in the art of potioneering, but it will never be a focus, I understand why pepper up or different healing salves are important, but it is not something I will ever waste time on when I can simply buy them from others, or maybe enslave a potion master,
On the topic of wands, I will never need a wand to perform magic, and it is one of the things I never understood as Emma. Mother explained that for most witches and wizards, a wand is needed as a focus or conductor for a magical outlet. Magical bodies are like batteries in a way, they take in the ambient magic and store it their bodies, but for a proper outlet the wand is needed as a tool, as the human body doesn’t have the correct component to direct magical power, like unicorns, dragons, thestrals, which is why those are the most common wand cores, as they are the most conductive materials for magic. I am different. My body isn’t naturally birthed, it’s created, while I am still mostly human, I have a dragon heart. That is one difference from the Skyrim game and how I as a Dovakhiin work, I not only have a dragon soul, but also a dragon heart, or Dovahsil in the language of dragons, called Dovazhul. I will never be able to do presicion work without a wand, but raw magical outlet will never be an issue.
I never got a proper answer of why Mother Rowena and Mother Hecate made me, or for what purpose, but I know both of them love me, -even though I have only spoken to Mother Hecate in my dreams-, and they have given me enough information to understand that both of them truly love this world, and something will end up threatening it in some way, it’s vague, but at least I know the general idea.
We have focused on my magical education, and the castle I woke up in is Castle Hecate, placed on an Island that Mother Hecate created for Mother Rowena a couple of thousand years ago. Apparently the Ravenclaw name is older than what we thought in our universe, and all the founders were hundreds of years old when they created Hogwarts.
Magic apparently is a lot like the Force from Star Wars. It’s a force that surrounds us and binds us, and it is somewhat sentient, but it only reacts, it doesn’t act on it’s own. That explanation was sort of vague, so I asked both my mothers for a better explanation. I ended up seeing it as sort of a program. It’s there, always, but it has no inherent feelings, it’s sort of like a program that requires input to output a result. Which is why I am fascinated by magical law.
Merlin studied the nature of magic a lot, and while the Ministry has banned the books, Mother had copies made that I have perused. There are a few fundamental rules in existence, all magic that binds you requires consent. I’m not talking about someone using a curse on you, but binding contracts between two people. The rule is sort of diffuse, but it can never be malevolent.
Take family magic. The head of the house is given that title by magic, upon meeting requirements set by family traditions, taking up the mantle of head is a choice, and upon accepting you bind yourself to those rules set by tradition, and likewise anyone in the family accepting the family name, say an heir, or a spouse, binds themselves to accepting the rules set by tradition. Which is why a head of house can deem something a family secret, and members of the house are physically and magically unable to divulge those secrets , both of their own free will or through force.
Likewise parents can betrothe or marry off their children, but the rule that is not commonly known is that the children can ask magic to contest any magically binding contract their parents of head of house make with the betrothed family.
As I said, we’ve focused on magic not needing a wand, so that I am prepared when I enter Hogwarts, as I almost don’t even want to. As Emma I read so many fanfiction with different versions of Dumbledore, that I don’t even know what to expect, but as I will be considered something between and heir and an original founder, Hogwarts will protect me if I ask for it, and I have certain liberties and rights I can enforce.
Anyways, I have fully prepared for my entry into hogwarts, and I will be a 4th year by the time “canon” starts, aka Harry Potter enters hogwarts. Now will I do anything to change “canon”? Yes of course, but I won’t bother with the “protagonist” life unless I stand to gain something. Say for example I spring Harry out of “Durzkaban”, will he be grateful and most likely see me as someone to trust and listen to? Yes, if his upbringing is the same, but on the other hand I will have Dumbledore and the Ministry breathing down my neck, so such drastic measures most likely won’t be taken, I am a Ravenclaw after all, wisdom beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure, and making life harder for myself is the opposite wisdom.
I am now officially 11, and Hogwarts is approaching this coming September, am I ready? I suppose, but first, I will need a wand.
