The slime continued its routine making the dungeon its home, casually piercing bats from time to time. Its size grew to the point that it can pierce bats sleeping in the ceiling and occasionally wild animals that enter the cave.

"We're back here again," Claune looks at the opening in front of her while unsheathing her twin daggers.

"It's a good thing that it didn't collapse and stayed as a normal cave," Laurence said casting light.

"Let's just go in already I want to finish this quickly" Jake walks towards the opening carrying his sword on his shoulder.

After entering Laurence noticed something was off within the cave, it was awfully quiet. Dungeon caves usually have wild animals inhabit them, especially the one that is neutralized as this one.

"Something's amiss," Laurence said.

"It's too quiet" Jake answered him while positioning his sword.

After a few minutes of walking, they saw a black slime that was almost as big as a dog devouring a wild boar twice its size. The three slowly closed their distance with the slime that was busily eating its prey. Laurence silently cast a fireball overhead the slime, and Jake and Claune circled it to prevent it from escaping.

"Now!" the slime twitched for a second before being swallowed by the fireball. Claune threw a few bottled oils into the fire making it even larger.

"With this that slime should be evaporated," Jake said as he looks inside the fire. When the fire receded nothing remained only a red magic stone. Laurence pick it up and put it in his pocket, the three then walked back to the entrance, and their job is done.

"Well that was easy" Jake muttered.

Laurence silently cast a fireball overhead the slime, and Jake and Claune circled it to prevent it from escaping but it escaped even before the fireball hits it.

"Don't let it escape!" Jake shouted.

Laurence tried to cast another fireball but the slime launched a spear from its body piercing his stomach.

"Laurence!" Claune runs back to him.

The slime tried to aim another spear at Claune's back but Jake redirected it with his sword and due to the sudden impact he loses his balance for a moment. The slime used that moment to flee, with its agility it rushed past the unsteady Jake, at Claune who was pouring a red liquid at the wounded Laurence, towards the dungeon exit.

"Claune! How's Laurence?" Jake shouted rushing towards his companions.

"Although I had made him drink a mid-tier potion and poured the rest that spear still has an acid with it," Claune said.

"Then let's go back to town immediately," He said as he picked up Laurence from the ground.

"The guild master should hear this too"

**

After fleeing from the fight the Black slime stopped by the river.

'Happened? Dead? Alive? Mind Clear! Why?'

The slime started to move again once it spotted a deer drinking at the river bank.

'Devour. Stronger.'

It sneaked toward the deer and when its in range the slime launched a spear into the deer's head. Its blood colored the riverside red with some of its flesh floating on the water's surface. The deer got devoured by the slime in no time.
