—3rd Person POV—
Miles away from the station, the man behind the villains’ deaths sat watching a computer monitor. Cursing the fact the men in the hospital hadn’t died, the man was confused why they hadn’t blown up.
“Master, please don’t get too worked up. You will reopen some of your wounds that haven’t healed yet.”, his physician said.
“Doctor Kyudai, do you have any idea why they didn’t detonate?”, All For One asked.
“I believe it has to do with the severity of their injuries.”, Kyudai suggested, “With their burns, they are likely on the verge of death so it didn’t trigger. One of the conditions of that quirk was that the target had to be in decent health for it to work.”
“Ah yes…I have so many that sometimes I forget small details like that. Fortunately, we used a proxy to contact them so have some of the Nomus deal with them. We can’t leave any possibility of this getting back to us right now.”, he ordered.
Nodding his head, Kyudai dispatched two of the Nomus to eliminate them as silently as possible. Since they weren’t completely operational yet, Kyudai didn’t want them to have a run-in with any of the Heroes…especially Kessler as he could move around the city instantly.
“Master, is that Pro Hero Kessler going to cause a problem for our plans?”, Tomura asked him.
“No Tomura, things will proceed as planned. Doctor Kyudai is already adding a few countermeasures for him. If he does get in the way, we will be able to deal with him.”, All For One answered, “For now keep tabs on the school as I told you to, our inside man should be getting a seat in All Might’s classroom. We need to wait for him to give us information on a good opportunity to attack the school.”
—Cole POV—
Having received a call from grandpa saying he would be out for dinner with friends, I was on my own for dinner. Finding a decent-looking noodle shop to eat at, I took a seat at the counter to look at meal options.
“We meet again, you wouldn’t happen to be following me are you?”, Mirko teased me as she sat next to me.
“I could say the same, I was here first.”, I chuckled.
“Nice work today, saw you on the news earlier.”, she said with a smirk.
“To be honest, I hate dealing with the press.”, I sighed.
Assuring me that I wasn’t the only one, she said a lot of people did because they got off topic really easily. Saying that she hated them quite a lot, given the fact that they used to stalk her early on, she assured me they would calm down eventually. Telling her I didn’t think it would happen, given my last name, I said I would deal with it eventually.
“Heard you gave those guys quite a thrashing.”, she stated with an excited grin, “I thought you were all about electricity, but from the sounds of it, you got some moves too. How about we have a sparring session sometime soon? I am always looking for a good sparring partner.”
Remembering that this rabbit was a battle junkie, I said I would think about it. Placing my order along with a drink order, Mirko gave me an irritated look.
“Just say yes or no, you don’t have to beat around the bush.”, she growled impatiently.
“Mirko, I just accepted a position at UA as a part-time teacher. I am saying I will think about it because I haven’t gotten my schedule yet.”, I told her, “Didn’t realize that you were so eager to get an ass kicking.”
Giving me an energetic smirk, she said that we could go after we eat if I was free. Looking at her with concern, I reminded her that we were on duty at the moment. Sighing she admitted that was true, but said she’d make me eat those words when we had the chance.
“In other news, you got any other places you’d recommend to eat?”, I asked changing the subject.
“Hmm…there is a pretty good sushi place down by the pier, and there is a popular cafe not far from here that has some pretty good food too.”, Mirko advised, “It really depends on what you want to eat.”
“If I am being honest, I could go for a burger.”, I laughed, “I haven’t seen many burger places aside from the fast food restaurants.”
Thinking about it for a moment, she suggested a few places that had decent burgers. Making mental notes of them, I thanked her for the suggestions. Making small talk with each other, she and I got along with one another. Briefly touching on our childhood, she was shocked to find out that I really didn’t want to be a Hero even though I grew up around some of the biggest names in the Hero World.
After finishing my meal, I paid for both of us and left. Hearing her shout at me saying she could buy her own meal, I just waved her off without looking back. In all honesty, I had acted out of instinct as I always paid when I was with my lovers in my prior lives. The only times I didn’t pay was when they went on shopping sprees because I actively avoided going with them. If I did go, I always ended up carrying everything for them and they bought a lot of stuff.
‘Fortunately, I made a lot in all five worlds, I’d have been in a lot of debt otherwise.’, I thought to myself with a smirk.
Walking back home, for a change of pace, I waved to a few Heroes I saw out on the streets as I passed by. Hearing someone running after me a short time later, Mirko came barreling down the sidewalk to catch me. Stopping when she caught up, I asked her what she wanted.
“You didn’t give me your number jackass, how are we supposed to set up a time to fight otherwise?”, she said with a grin.

Exchanging phone numbers with one another, I told her I would get my schedule in a few days. After I got it, I would contact her to set something up. Nodding her head she said she’d call me if I didn’t which made me roll my eyes at her. As she was about to leave, we heard someone screaming a few blocks away. Not skipping a beat, I zipped into a street light and headed over to find out what was going on.
Finding the woman who screamed, several overturned, burning cars and dead people lay in the street a short way from her. Asking her who did this, she told me that she found them there only moments ago when she was taking her dog out. Saying that she didn’t see who did it, she nearly fainted from the smell of the blood all over the roadway. Calling the police to report the crime, Mirko arrived while I was giving them the coordinates.
“What the hell happened here?”, she asked.
“One of the residents came out to walk their dog and found the corpses of these guys. You happen to know any of them?”, I said looking them up in the Hero Association Database on my phone.
Giving them a closer look, she shook her head saying she couldn’t place them. Finding nothing in the database, I started searching the web while we waited for the cops. Locating one of the men, it turned out he was some sketchy real estate agent that was close to losing his license.
“Any idea why someone would kill him?”, Mirko questioned, “I haven’t seen his face before.”
“Lots of criminals invest in real estate to hide their money. Probably threatened to expose somebody for money, and lost that gambit. This happens pretty regularly in the States.”, I informed her, “That said, I don’t think there are any housing projects in this area right?”
Nodding her head, she said that nothing was on the docket anywhere near here. This area was reserved for family homes so no high-rise apartments couldn’t be built here. With that in mind, I was curious why he was out here as he didn’t live nearby either. Flipping the cars over, we tried to see if there were any clues inside but most of it was already charred. Popping the trunks open, there were a few briefcases full of cash that had managed to survive the fire.
“Now why would the culprit just leave all this money here?”, Mirko said with confusion, “This definitely means it was a hit, and not a theft gone wrong.”
“Agreed…the problem is why didn’t anyone hear it? I mean it happened less than fifteen feet from people’s homes.”, I stated looking around, “Either they are afraid to talk or somehow they made the area silent.”
“It’s not like we can ask the victims.”, she laughed.
“That isn’t actually true…let me take a look.”, I replied kneeling towards one of the victims.
Placing my hand over his face, I took a glimpse back to just before his death. Seeing what appeared to be an exchange of goods going on, a Nomu appeared out of the night sky and started attacking them. The man tried to shout out to his comrades, but no sound came out of his mouth nor could he hear them. This Nomu looked different from the one that would attack UA as it was much less bulky and its brain wasn’t exposed to the open air.
“What are you doing?”, Mirko asked me.
“Peering into his final moments of life, they were attacked by a monster.”, I told her.
“Monster? Aren’t you a bit old to be using that term?”, she snickered.
Describing the attacker to her, the look on her face changed. Someone that could attack without a sound and be strong enough to rip people apart was a serious matter. Thanks to my ability, I saw an echo of the attacker start fleeing from the scene just as the cops pulled up. Telling the officers we were going to pursue the perp, Mirko followed me without any questions.
Running down several alleyways, we found several more bodies strewn about. These people were homeless which meant the Nomu was killing anyone that saw it as well as its targets. Continuing on past the bodies, since they were dead already, eventually we made our way to a strip club. Seeing as the trail ended here, I was about to say he got away when I realized that I couldn’t hear anything. Realizing the same thing we both ran inside the club to see a bloodbath as the Nomu was killing everyone in its path.
Dashing forwards, Mirko kicked the Nomu in the face hard enough to twist its head in an unnatural way. Watching it snap its head back into place, the Nomu slammed its fist into her gut and sent her flying backwards into a wall. Firing several bolts of lightning at the Nomu, they all connected at the same point and blasted him into a support pillar.
Picking herself back up, Mirko moved to get him out of the club so the survivors could flee. Helping her with that, we threw the Nomu out the front window and quickly followed after it. Rushing the Nomu, I grabbed it by the face and reached out with my power for its Quirk. Sensing several different ones within it, I stole the Silencing Quirk and its Regeneration Quirk before letting go. The effect was instantaneous as sounds around us came back, disoriented now by the loss of two of its Quirks.
“Alright let’s take him down!”, Mirko shouted as she leaped into the air.
Dropping down on him, with a powerful leg drop, she sunk him into the roadway with a loud cracking noise. With its regeneration no longer working properly, the Nomu started writhing around trying to get back up. Noticing that it wasn’t feeling any pain from her attack, she looked at me with concern.
“What the heck is this thing?”, she questioned, “I haven’t met someone that doesn’t feel pain.”
Noticing that the Nomu was starting to swell up unnaturally, I shot forward and threw it into the air. Getting roughly thirty feet up, the Nomu exploded violently sending guts everywhere.
“Seriously!? I just got this dry cleaned!”, Mirko shouted with an irritated look.
“That’s what you are concerned about?”, I remarked.
“Don’t judge me, this is one of my favorite outfits.”, she retorted.
Shaking my head, I said we should probably call this in. Whoever it was after was probably dead or long gone by now. Giving the Commissioner a call, I explained that we had a situation that required a bit of delicacy given the number of deaths here.
