“What are you reading, anyway?” The Otherworlder muttered as he looked around the desk.

Seeing as there wasn’t any response, a small smile curved his mouth upward as he pulled one of the books towards himself. His companion was completely engrossed in the book, and he didn’t feel like taking that away.

The Otherworlder waited with his chin resting on his palm as he skimmed over the book he had taken himself.

‘The Klein Reform and Political Theory.’

Yeah. This was why he was reluctant to come here. This fucking wait.

The Otherworlder held feelings of gratitude towards the Transmigrator and he even found this sudden impulsiveness admirable, but only till it didn’t inconvenience him. Gritting his teeth, the Otherworlder swallowed his yawns.

As an hour passed away, the Otherworlder could feel himself reaching the end of his patience. Fortunately, the robed person slammed the book shut and yawned right then.

“Haah! Thanks for waiting.”

“Don’t mind it.”

“Then, your hand.”

Without hesitation, the Otherworlder placed his hand on the Transmigrator’s and gripped it tight.

-Snap.

The sound of snapping fingers echoed through his ears and the world turned black. The Otherworlder blinked his eyes as the rows of dark bookshelves and the smell of moldy wood and old paper were replaced by a brightly shining and luxurious room alongside the scent of lilies.

“We’re here.”

The Transmigrator pulled off the hood of the robe as dazzling locks of white hair cascaded down to her waist. Turning towards the Otherworlder, she pulled off the latch of her robe and dropped it to the ground.

Her unblemished skin reminiscent of blooming lilies alongside her luxurious clothing completely overturned the image of the robed person in the run-down book store. A sharp jawline and glimmering golden eyes, with a high nose bridge and thin lips. The woman seemed like the very definition of noble beauty.

If one told him she bathed in milk and roses every day, the Otherworlder would believe them without question.

The Otherworlder surely admired a person’s good looks, but it didn’t matter as much to him. He pulled off his mahogany coat and dropped it on a chair before walking over to the bed in the center of the room.

“Ahh!” He said as he plopped down on the bed. It was just the right mixture of soft and hard, making it seem like he was lying on cotton while still giving his body the right amount of support. His shoulders drooped and his jaw slackened as the Otherworlder relaxed on the bed.

High-class people sure had it nice.

The Otherworlder’s eyes moved around the room. Finely cut walls and ceiling, with rows of golden chandeliers hanging down.

From the top, he turned to the left to see the Transmigrator standing in front of a giant mirror as she patted her hair and eyebrows straight. In front of her was a ceramic dressing table laden with more skincare products than he could ever name.

The Otherworlder suddenly recalled his earlier question. “Hey Vera, what were you reading?”

“The Klein Reform and Political Theory. It was a very minor thing. I didn’t expect to find it there.” Vera replied. She checked herself in the mirror once again before turning away from it. She pulled off her outdoor boots with her legs and went towards the wooden door with beautiful engravings.

“That old man always has what you would least expect.”

She knocked on the door and spoke up. “Bring me some refreshments.”

“Yes, my lady.” The voice of a young girl promptly answered back before being replaced by the sound of footsteps.

“Nobles sure have it easy.” The Otherworlder crossed his hands behind his head as he leaned further back into the bed.

“Sure. Why don’t you become one too?” Vera scoffed and climbed up on the bed herself. She got on with her knees and crawled to the head of the bed. “You have a pretty face. Just get knighted and some noble lady will swoop you up real soon.”

Vera sighed as she lay down next to the Otherworlder, who had also kicked his shoes off. It was a shame that such a well-maintained room was being vandalized by the carelessness of the two, but no one was around to point it out.

“How do you maintain such a face, anyway? Huh? What do you use?” Vera asked with her eyes closed.

“Depression and anxiety. Works wonders,” The Otherworlder replied.

“Hah! Anxiety, you say, and yet you boldly venture into a dungeon and level a boss monster? You sure have guts.”

“Don’t you know?” The Otherworlder smirked. “Fortune favors the bold.”

Vera lightly grumbled when a knock reverberated through the room.

“My lady, may I come in?”

“You may.”

The Otherworlder pumped his eyebrows up at Vera’s words.

The young maid opened the door with gentle hands and came inside with a cart. She did not as much as twitch her eyes in the messy room as he kept her gaze low and rolled the cart over the lavish carpet.

“Leave it next to the bed.”

“Yes, my lady.” The maid walked over to the end of the bed that Vera was lying on. Her eyes swept over the bed, yet she did not say a word. Almost as if she didn’t notice the Otherworlder was there.

Leaving the refreshments, the maid bowed deeply and stepped back without showing her back to Vera. Her feet grazed past Vera’s boots that had been thrown on the ground and her face contorted in surprise.

“These boots…”

“Ah, yes,” Vera said. “I forgot about them. You may take those away.”

“Yes, my lady.” The maid picked the boots up and went out of the room.

“Really now? What did you do?” The Otherworlder propped himself up with his elbows and turned towards Vera.

There was absolutely no way that maid had seen him and just ignored them. Lady Vera Lilie von der Blume, laying together with a man, even the smallest whisper of such a thing would shake the political world. It wasn’t something anyone could just ignore.

“I am making an illusion spell. It’s still in the works, though. She found the shoes,” Vera answered with a smirk. She then picked one plate filled with macaroons from the cart and placed it between them.

A new spell that she was making herself. As one would expect from the heiress of the Blume Count family. The master magicians of the kingdom. But till just a year ago, no one in the world would have believed that this lady could make a spell on her own. After all, she was but a villainess amongst the nobility.

For the entire world, the lady of the Blume had opened her eyes to her true, or the dormant noble blood had awoken to bless them with a new goddess.

Only two people in the world knew. How the villainess Vera was no more of this world. How a Transmigrator had taken over Vera’s body, who was bound to be executed in nine months and had changed the fate of the world. Only the two in the room shared this knowledge. Because now, the Transmigrator was no longer her past self. She had truly become lady Vera Lilie von der Blume.
