'But for an insignificant being of the lesser species to be able to communicate with me, you must be terribly favored by the world,' Cockarista spoke into the Otherworlder's mind.

'What does that mean?' the Otherworlder who had fully accepted Cockarista's existence after flipping a coin sat down comfortably in the cell and talked with his cellmate.

'Mind it not. Tell me, lad, what knavery has landed you into this putrid prison?'

'That crazy princess wants my allegiance.'

Cockarista scuttled around while humming in agreement. 'The same in myself, then. They know not what prowess an Otherworlder wields, so they try to keep them all close.'

The Otherworlder nodded and leaned back. Cockarista too blended in with the darkness of the cell as the two cellmates remained quietly seated.

Once again, the Otherworlder shut his eyes and tried to catch some sleep but couldn't sleep at all. A strange silence took over the cell as the two awkwardly looked around.

'Why did I just ignore him?? Shouldn't I be talking!?' the Otherworlder's head was a slight mess. He had a lot of questions for the cockroach but messed up his chance to ask.

'Um, lad,' Cockarista's voice suddenly echoed in his mind. 'I can hear your thoughts.'

'RIGHT!'

The Otherworlder coughed and cleared his head again.

'Why are you locked up in here, Sir Cockarista?'

Cockarista scuttled around again and came closer to the Otherworlder. 'I was traveling around the kingdom, solving all kinds of problems for the people. Be it savage ogres or feral wyverns, I downed them all for the people of this world, and instead of gratitude, I received apprehension. They feared their savior and that wretched princess had me detained.'

The Otherworlder nodded at Cockarista's story. He couldn't blame anyone here. 'Looks can be deceiving, huh.'

'What do you mean, lad? I'll let you know I had a dozen miss roaches swaying for me at all times.' The Cockroach harrumphed in his mind and crossed four of its legs.

'Well, that still doesn't explain why you haven't been chopped up and presented as a meal to the king.'

'You runt! How dare you speak about me in such manner?' the Cockroach snapped its teeth. 'Hmph, it is because that diabolical princess heard of my prowess as the great warrior of Cucaracha.'

The Otherworlder leaned back again and rested against the walls of the cell again. Cockarista decided to give him some space and went on scuttling around in the darkness.

With a sigh, the Otherworlder took out a coin and alternated his gaze between it and the cockroach. Many things were happening. The cockroach seemed to know things that he needed the answers to, and he was also his cellmate now.

The Otherworlder scratched his head and clicked his tongue. He placed the coin over his thumb and flicked it in the air. The coin arced above his hand and fell down.

-Swish

The Otherworlder snatched the coin mid-air and placed it in his hand.

Tails.

'Hey, Sir Cockarista.' Calling out to a cockroach from within his head was so strange that the Otherworlder didn't even know what to think of it.

Cockarista stopped its shuffling and turned towards the Otherwordler. 'What is it— HM!'

Cockarista vi Cafard was stunned as he turned towards the Otherworlder. As a member of a highly evolved and superior species as compared to humans, Cockarista's abilities went beyond simple telepathy. If it was a mere human, he could also read into their emotions, their disposition, and their feelings.

Just one flip.

With just one flip of a coin, all the emotions of doubt and skepticism the Otherworlder had held towards him disappeared like a mirage. Cockarista had planned on slowly gaining his trust before finding out more about the Otherworlder, but the Otherworlder's sudden change had left him stumped.

'Do you want to break out of this prison, Sir Cockarista?'

Cockarista stood stunned in his spot as the Otherworlder offered a deal. After a long bout of silence, the cockroach's voice finally rang in the Otherworlder's mind.

A cellmate meant to torment him had become a new friend for the Otherworlder.
