Silence filled the grand hall as all the attendees stood with bated breaths. In the enormous courtroom filled with trinkets of gold and paintings of old, the ministers and knights gathered around the throne with their heads bowed low. Awaiting the words of the one with thousands of fates in his hands.

“In my name as King Geralt Fitzimons vi Angnarmarak,” a deep voice resounded in the room. Filled with grace and calm, the king’s words froze all the attendees of the court as they quietened even the sounds of their breaths. “For the crime of the murder of the summoned hero, I announce upon the criminal the death penalty. The criminal shall be publicly executed at the third hour past dawn.”

The ministers and knights bowed in acknowledgment of the king’s words. Words of praise for the king erupted from the people as the king silently gazed over them.

“Our lord’s wisdom knows no bounds!” “Death to that sinner! Justice for the hero!” “Truly just! Long live Angnarmarak!”

Watching the events play out from the side, the one who brought out the criminal of the kingdom sat with a broad smile. Amelia was looking forward to tomorrow.

‘So you’re saying you shoot lasers from your eyes?’

‘A crude way to refer to my destruction ray, but it isn’t wrong.’

‘You’re kidding me, cockroach! You mean to tell me those damn magic bands on your body can even nullify laser eyes?’

‘Why would I lie! I only speak of the truth, lad. If these binds were off, I could flatten this castle in seconds.’

The Otherworlder waved his hand and scoffed in disbelief. ‘Sure, sure. We’ll get them off and then we’ll see.’

Undoubtedly, Cockarista must have been quite powerful. But the Otherworlder thought he could go too far with his tales at times. At first, the metal strips on the cockroach seemed like stylistic armor to the Otherworlder, but they turned out to be restraints sealing all his abilities, made especially for higher-order otherworlders like the cockroach.

Three days had passed since the two had met in the cell. The guards had stopped messing with the Otherworlder, only leaving some food outside the cell, which he ate little of. In those three days, the two had started the preparation steps for their prison break.

‘Lad, is your plan really working? It is smart, but shouldn’t we be seeing effects by now?’ Cockarista asked.

The Otherworlder stood up and stretched his arms with a small smirk. ‘Worry not, Sir Cockarista. That it’s slow is even better. It means the princess plans to listen.’

Cockarista stayed quiet for a few seconds before nodding and climbing up the wall. Over the three days, another thing the Otherworlder had learned about Cockarista was that no matter how superior he called himself, he couldn’t stop acting like a cockroach. Climbing the walls was one thing. The cockroach also savored the Otherworlder’s leftovers more than the food brought for him.

As soon as the Otherworlder heard of the princess’ ability, a way to trick her jumped up in his mind. For the last three days, they had spoken just a few words, tailored perfectly to make it seem as if they were meant to meet. Cryptic words in the languages of the Otherworlder’s original world and a few words to make it seem as if the two knew each other for a long time.

The power to accept and gather information was truly frightening, but only until it remained a secret. As soon as someone figured out the ability, feeding false information was no big task, and they were going to do just that.

The Otherworlder wanted to create a threat for the princess, so he cooked up a fake organization of otherworlders planning to ruin the kingdom.

To perceive someone or something as a threat, a show of strength and knowledge was needed. With a great turn of luck, the two fields were already covered for them. Otherworlders were long seen as carriers of mysterious abilities and wild cards in this world, even more so in the kingdom of Angnarmarak. As far as knowledge went, the Otherworlder had been taught about the palace, its officials, and its inner workings personally by the heiress of Blume and the transmigrator Vera.

Cockarista had been killing the others who had been jailed with him since they attacked first, and the Otherworlder himself had the accomplishment of killing the hero. These, coupled with the information he held, made it just a matter of how he presented things to create an entire organization of otherworlders that kill those that disagree with their views.

Painting the picture was easy enough. At that point, they just had to wear the mask of defectors and their treatment would turn on its feet. No one would dare to ask the Otherworlder to be their dog since he and Cockarista would be their only sources of a possible threat that could push the kingdom into tumult. Escaping would be much easier without their abilities blocked, regardless of the surveillance.

The Otherworlder smiled a little as he thought about his plan. There wasn’t much that could go wrong here. He just had to feed the information slowly and cautiously.

The Otherworlder stretched his arms again and yawned. Inside the dark prison with no sun or moon, the Otherworlder was losing track of time. Maybe he could’ve figured it out from which guard was looming around, but they wouldn’t show their faces anymore. Maybe they couldn’t take a few spits.

Closing his eyes, the Otherworlder tried to drift off to sleep when loud footsteps interrupted him. Sounds similar to that of metal clashing against rock thudded all over the prison before stopping right outside the prison cells.

“Humph. Fucking criminals. You hero-killing scoundrel, enjoy your last wish.”

Terrifying words.

They could mean a lot of things. Dozens of them. All pointing towards him being fucked.

And he just thought nothing could go wrong.

The Otherworlder closed his eyes tighter and faked snoring. Whatever it was, it would go away once he wakes up. So for now, he ignored everything and tried to sleep.
