Long hair, the shade of wheat fell over his shoulders as the Otherworlder leaned in front of the mirror. He clutched the ceramic washbasin with water streaking down his cheeks and dripping down his chin. His eyes hardened at the emerald stare of the mirror.
It was exactly three months ago, that fateful day.
When he fell into this world.
To the den of misfortune.
He looked pretty clean, even after three months. Sighing, the Otherworlder ran his hand over his hair and tied them back into a ponytail. The wheat strands tickled his back, swaying as he walked out of the bathroom. The man grabbed a hand towel from a chair and wiped his face before tossing it back.
He went to the bed and picked up the white tunic splayed on it. The cotton rolled over his body and snugly wrapped around his chest and back, it used to be oversized not that long back, the muscles in his torso had bulged out a fair bit in the three months. He was fit before, but ever since coming in contact with mana, his body had grown by leaps and bounds.
The Otherworlder adjusted the fit of his clothes. Lastly, he wore the mahogany coat that had settled on the hanger in his room and picked up the black tome and badge before heading out. He strutted down the stairs and greeted the innkeeper with a smile and good morning on his way out.
Not hungover anymore, the air itself seemed much more welcoming to the Otherworlder. Stone roads greeted the man under the bright light of the morning sun. he could truly see the beastkin and dwarfs opening up their shops A crowd gathered near a fountain as the melodious voice of a nymph bard echoed through the air, harmonized by the chirps of birds and cries of the squirrels. as elf and fairy children danced through the streets. Turn to turn, everything was filled with a cheerfulness that the Otherworlder couldn't imagine seeing back at his home.
Soon, the Otherworlder reached his destination. In front of the adventurer's guild, he took a deep breath in and pushed the doors open. The loud sounds of the many adventurers greeted the Otherworlder as he entered the guild with a lofty gait.
Many of the veteran wizards and warriors stopped to look at the Otherworlder while the newbies alternated their gaze between him and the rest of the guild in confusion. The reaction took him by surprise since he hadn't been here in a month.
The sudden silence felt a little unwelcoming to the Otherworlder, but a voice soon came to his relief.
"Hello, and welcome to the Adventurer's guild! To your front is the guild reception, while to the left is the pub, on the right side—"
A mechanical voice.
The Otherworlder gulped and looked down. Relief? Scratch that. What had come was something that left him deeply unsettled every time he saw it.
"It's fine. I know," he said.
"Oh. Understood. Please call me if you need anything." The mechanical voice continued. The LED lights on its head beeped and booped in circles as it got back on its wheels and rolled away from the Otherworlder.
Yes, it was a robot greeting people at the adventurer's guild. This branch had found the robot loaded with artificial intelligence in the outskirts of the town. They took it in and it wished to thank them by joining them as a part of the staff.
This wooden building, with people in full armor, carrying staffs and swords, had a futuristic and sentient robot as its greeter.
The Otherworlder swallowed his breath and went up to the reception in front. All the other adventurers started murmuring behind his back.
"Did you see that? The robot turned away." One man with an ax whispered to his party.
"Even though it's so persistent when we try to. He really is something else." The scout, with daggers hanging from her waist, replied.
"I don't get it, just who is he?" their white-robed healer asked. He was a new guy. No wonder he didn't know.
"That man…" the party's mage said, her eyes fixed on the Otherworlder's back. "He's the most terrifying man around. He rose from a wood-ranked adventurer to a copper rank in just two months."
"What? He skipped two whole ranks?"
"Yeah, he should be even higher, but two months is too short a time, so they let him be."

"Just who is he…?" The Priest muttered as the man got closer to the reception. The other adventurers quickly cleared a path for him, letting him get to the reception before anyone else.
The brunette receptionist quickly wore her professional smile as she saw the man stop in front of her. She stood up from her seat and spoke. "Sir Iatra, it has been an entire month. I hope you have been well!"
'Iatra? Who the fuck is that?' Though he didn't show it on his face, the Otherworlder was perplexed. Then he remembered.
It was three months back when he had come to this world and could not understand anything. That person who spoke his language had brought him to the guild where he was asked for a name and he had said the first thing that he heard here.
"D-did she just say Iatra?"
"No way! That man is the Iatra?"
"W-what have we witnessed? Unbelievable."
"Is he really that Iatra?" The priest asked.
"Yes." The wizard nodded while still staring at the Otherworlder with narrowed eyes. "He is indeed Iatra, the destroyer. I was there to witness it, as this man annihilated the siege monster from another world."
He spoke the language now, so the Otherworlder couldn't help but have one thought in his mind as they all murmured on and on. 'Just what in the ever-loving fuck are you guys on about? What is this whole destroyer thing? Bullying?' Ignoring the words around him, the Otherworlder tapped on the desk of the reception.
"Ahem." The receptionist coughed, a little louder than what would be expected. The adventurers took it as a sign to shut up and quietened down. "Then, sir, have you been training for the past month? We can update your Spirit Badge if you would like."
The Otherworlder remembered the embarrassment he had felt when first got his spirit badge. By pouring his mana into the specially made stone tablet, his 'Spirit' was read and put out his stats in numbers.
There was no way he was going through that again.
The Adventurer's guild was great at making him uncomfortable. That was precisely why he had not stepped in here in over a month. He decided to get his money and get out of here. It wasn't a big thing, anyway.
Swallowing his thoughts, the Otherworlder took out the badge and the tome from his overcoat and dropped them on the receptionist's table.
"Hah! T-this!" The receptionist's professional smile broke down as she saw the thing he placed down. "This belongs to Necromancer Shil!"
"What?!"
"He caught that mad necromancer?!"
"No way, didn't the hero go out for him as well!?"
"How is this possible? A mere copper-ranked adventurer?"
An awful premonition took over him when the Otherworlder heard the surrounding sounds.
"P-please wait right here, sir. I will be back, I will be back. Don't leave, please!" The brunette receptionist shouted as she ran off from her desk and to the back of the guild.
Just what had happened? It was surely not a big deal. What had he gotten himself into this time?
'Fuck. I want to leave.'
