Thank you for your support! And yes! Witch Tamer Book 3 is up for people to get on Amazon now. I will be posting a chapter to Life Wizard tonight also. And I'm going to try to do a 2nd chapter for that story this week also.

Chapter 204

Fae Cultural Re-education Center AKA the Fae Front Gate Fortress

Leader board combat competions in progress…at military training camps in the Fae Gate Fortress; [AKA Citizens to Soldiers program in progress]

The Fight Shun Event has already begun!

Hundreds of people are jeering and shouting at the two fighters in the middle of the ring. The solid blue crystal brick martial training facility building where this fight is taking place is now packed with all the bleacher seats filled. People of all types and backgrounds are now watching with a line going out the door for new challengers waiting for their turn.

And in the center of the ring…

Zeke attacks, divine flower martial arts fist attack skill activated

Shun magic shield takes approximately 3% damage, Shun health takes 0% health damage. Zeke is horrified how low his damage is.

“What?! That’s cheating! Why the hell can’t I knock your teeth out?! So cheaty…” Zeke cried out in the boxing ring.

Shun shakes head sadly…”…weak…you hit like a girl. All those women are laughing at you punk. And now you accuse someone of cheating because of your pathetic hits.” Shun couldn’t resist getting this guy mad. It was part of releasing a lot of tension that had built up for a long time of being chased around.

Zeke activates divine flower fist skill again. “Come back here little bitch, let me try again. Damn you!” His fist flew out with lightning speed.

Shun magic shield takes 4% damage, Shun health untouched. The energy shield had flickered for a bit under the hit but didn’t even give a little. Only a small sliver sized crack remained.

Shun laughed at the pitiful martial artist struggling.

Zeke is breathing hard while sweat is pouring down his face and clothes.

Shun has no sweat pouring down his face and clothes.

Zeke is desperately hoping for a second wind.

Shun has no need of a second wind.

Shun stands there taunting him. “Try to not get so worked up. It will make your judgment bad. So is that all you can do?”

“Shut up asshole!” Zeke cried out.

“Whatever…”

Zeke’s mouth twisted into a smirk. He’d brought special items to help himself win! Using these would give him an edge and most of all they were legal! But few would think of it because of the cost. With this, his victory is assured!

Zeke activates hidden speed stim in his glove. Some people would frown on a move like this but he was competing with magic so no one would complain. Stats up; 20% attack speed increase. Damage bonus activated, Zeke read on his assist interface.

Zeke attacks, divine flower martial arts fist attack skill activated

Shun magic shield takes 4% damage, Shun health takes 0% damage. Zeke scores additional strike, due to attack speed increase. Shun magic shield takes 5% damage, Shun health takes 0% damage.

Hmm, it’s taking longer than I thought. I wonder…do I dare risk TWO stims instead of one? They advise you not to do two, but if I lose…he thought to himself.

Shun magic shield currently at around 84%, as best Shun could guess as he tried to picture the energy flow in his mind….well maybe it was mid 80s…but without a computer it’s hard to know exactly.

Shun thought to self; ‘this is interesting.’ Martial artists of this world seem to resemble demon techniques in some ways and a sort of simple fist channeling system roughly based on similarities to a more complex and advanced mana adaptation that magic users use. By prolonging the training I can study their techniques and memorize this for attempts to work up more anti-demon positioning and foot work.

1 hour later…

Zeke is panting and covered in sweat. “I-I won’t give up! Fuck! Fuck you bitch!” he was even hoarse from exertion now. He was also unsteady on his feet but not from return blows; he was just tired.

“Why won’t you finish him? You are monopolizing the ring punk!” someone yelled at Shun. Then others yelled too, along the same lines.

“Well they aren’t wrong,” Shun thought to himself. He WAS playing with this fighter. But he had a reason.

“Hey asshole! Other people want to use the ring too! Quit playing with that idiot and finish him off. We know he can’t win,” surprisingly it’s the referee that said it. This came after the fight was repeatedly pushed out longer than it should have. In truth, Shun was caught for playing with him instead of finishing him off.

“This is training. I was trying to study his ki channeling or whatever you guys call it. I was hoping to get a new skill out of it,” Shun said.

“Cocky bastard! Thinks he can just invent skills on the fly,” someone complained.

Then others joined in.

“Do that on your own time! Some of us have families to go home to! There’s a line down the block waiting to fight you,” the referee said.

“What? Why so many?” Shun realized what the line was for. He’d seen the line but didn’t connect that all those people wanted a chance to fight him too. He thought there was some other event they were going to.

The ref shrugged, “I don’t get it either. They think it’s some kind of event? I think…this is confusing. But I can’t go home as long as people want to fight you.”

Shun paused to think about it. “How odd…”

Zeke groaned. “I-I’m too tired to go on. I yield.”

Shun feels his mana core…it’s hard to place this exactly but it feels like there’s still about 96% remaining because he’d been using his mana regeneration between Zeke’s hits while prolonging Zeke’s suffering to observe his techniques. It’s possible that…possibly some martial arts techniques could be re-written and incorporated into his own skill set, which he’d been trying to do. But if Zeke left he’d also lose time on the next fighter to adjust how similar and dissimilar the two fighters compared before receiving a gain to add to the coding he was thinking up on the new technique.

Dang it, if only he could have evaluated it a little longer it’s possible he could have gotten more for a skill creation.

The next guy stepped into the ring while others are jeering and yelling to get it over with so they can have a turn.

Then the ref stepped up to the ring. “OK, people I want a clean fight…”

“Fuck that,” the challenger spat on the floor to intimidate the ref.

Stevvan and Shun match begins…

“You can’t defeat me…” Stevvan has the look of a seasoned martial artist. With veins pushing out of his flesh on both meaty and huge arms, chest, and face he also has the face of an ox…complete with the horns and the hooved feet; but he repels women everywhere with an overly wide nose, and too wide eyes. Yet somehow he’s good at fighting. And also who would fall for a guy with a cow like face? Even minotaurs looked down on ox heads. This rejection fueled his rage and warrior spirit.

Stevvan uses martial arts technique, hurricane speed technique active. Self buff initiated!

Stevvan uses martial arts Enduring Power technique active. Self buff initiated!

Shun could feel the mana surge in the enemy, indicating some type of buildup of an active skill.

Stevvan; strength up by 10%, constitution by 10% up, speed up by 15%, and dmg increase.

Shun, mana shield already active, resistance buff already active…

Shun decides to not activate all buffs to save mana, except for mana regeneration and magic shielding skills. But if things were to heat up he could add or stack other things on.

Stevvan rushes Shun with Triple Fist Rush skill…3 hits for 8% to mana shield.

“What? That was a pretty good hit! None of the others could do that much damage to the shield,” Shun’s eyes were wide with being impressed but not fearful. So far nobody had been able to penetrate over 5% into the magic shielding.

“Are you mocking me bitch?” the Ox faced guy asked, working into a frenzy of anger.

“Uh, no…I was just saying…it was a good hit. I didn’t want you to feel bad later…”

“Oh you will so pay for that cocky attitude!” The ox guy charged again with a deep bellow and cloven hooves for feet. He had a sort of good balance of speed and strength but because of his bulk he couldn’t turn fast.

Shun tries to dodge but still receives damage to shielding, from a lashing out strike at the last second from the enemy compensating for his weak ability to turn. Then the enemy jumped at him!

Stevvan pushes advantage going for a pinning trip grapple hold. Triple Fist Rush skill activated additional 11% damage to mana shield.

Shun mana shield at 68% (Zeke damage + Stevvan damage – Shield regeneration rate).

Shun activates stun to get out of grapple hold. Even if it wasn’t much damage, he had a phobia of grapples and not being able to move. The greater build of the ox faced guy was incredibly hard to get out of! He felt trapped and worried.

Stevvan anti stun skill triggered! Berserker activated! Damage increase of 40% increase, defense -20% decreased.

“Oh! Nice skill, I can see you did something but not sure what it was!” Shun cried out.

“Shut up! Shut up, shut up, shut up! Die bitch!”

The fight feels real this time. Before now Zeke and the others were small fries. But ox face was the real deal. The grapple hold was a bit scary too. Somehow he had a counter to countering it built within the skill, which was on a dungeon boss level.

Stevvan rushes Shun with Triple Fist Rush skill…3 hits for 14% to mana shield.

Shun casts magic missiles. (Will this hurt him too much? What if I accidentally disable or kill him? I don’t want to be charged for manslaughter? Or do they even have that here?)

Stevvan receives unknown damage with burns on chest and arms.

(Shun has difficulty telling how much health Stevvan actually has.)

Crowds of people are screaming to beat down the support class junkie. Shun stress up, Stevvan stress up.

Stevvan rushes Shun with Triple Fist Rush skill…3 hits for 15% to mana shield.

Shun evades, and recasts Runic Mana Shielding. Shield at 100% strength.

Stevvan goes for grapple technique hold on Shun.

Shun trapped in grapple technique and unable to escape! Shun panics!

Stevvan receives free attack of opportunity for multiple grapple face punches at 11% total!

Shun still unable to escape! Stress up!

Stevvan receives free attack of opportunity for multiple grapple face punches at 12% total!

Shun still unable to escape! Stress up!

Stevvan receives free attack of opportunity for multiple grapple face punches at 13% total!

Shun still unable to escape! Stress up! Still unable to escape grapple hold.

(I need to create a skill to counter grapple holds, Shun thought.)

Shun shielding strength at 64%

Stevvan receives free attack of opportunity for multiple grapple face punches at 14% total!

Shun still unable to escape! Stress up! Still unable to escape grapple hold while stress continues to go up; physical endurance lowering…

Shun shielding strength at 50%

(Mages do have a weakness to grapples! I should have trained against this more with Sylvie and Ayumi!), Shun thinks to self while still struggling to get out of grapple hold.

Stevvan receives free attack of opportunity for multiple grapple face punches at 15% total!

Shun still unable to escape! Stress up! Yet he was still unable to escape grapple hold while stress continues to go up; physical endurance lowering…

Stevvan berserker damage continuing to increase! Berserker state still active! This time Stevvan is using a type of hold to try to stop Shun from activating his shielding recast by pinning an arm.

(I didn’t know there was such a thing as berserker martial artists!), Shun thought to self.

Shun shielding strength at 35%

Stevvan attempts to interrupt Shun spell casting technique! Stevvan has created a new skill, cast interrupt!

Shun shielding strength at 19%!

Then Shun had the recoil react counter timed perfectly! Shun manages to hit Stevvan with stun technique! Shun successfully casts Runic Magic Shielding Technique! Shielding strength at 100%

Then he follows up with an offensive spell, something to save mana. Shun casts magic missiles! Stevvan hit with unknown amount of damage. Stevvan bleeding profusely and falls! Then he cries out defeat.

The crowd gasps in astonishment!

“Heh? How is that possible? He got out of a high class grapple.”

“Did he just beat Stevvan? How?”

“Wait, wasn’t Stevvan unbeatable? His nickname of Ox was for a reason right?”

“I don’t know…Ox suits his mutation. I always thought it was the mutation’s ugliness that gave him that name,” someone said.

“Hey cut it out. The Ox is a real man’s man,” someone said. That made the women giggle; nobody wanted a face like an ox head.

“No way! The Ox was taken out?!”

“What’s going on? Why are they so surprised?” Shun asked the referee who is really confused.

“Are you really a support buffer? I think they got your paperwork wrong or something. I don’t get it,” the referee asked carefully.

“Yeah that’s right. I am a support buffer,” Shun said.

“Humm….this has never happened before. Usually the support buffers are the first to lose. Most can only improve their stats a small amount with their buff skills and have their friends fight, so I find this odd. You didn’t cheat?” the referee scratched his head.

“Of course I didn’t cheat. Don’t you think that’s selfish to think someone cheated just because they aren’t your favorite job? Besides how could I have cheated, you watched the whole thing,” Shun shot back.

“Ahh that’s right huh? I shouldn’t judge you for being a support class…my bad…It’s just so incredible that this is happening,” the ref still looked at him with an odd disdain.

“They can’t all be that bad can they?” Shun asked.

“Possibly but… you know Stevvan was in the number three spot on the leader boards…” the referee said.

“So he’s number three martial artist?”

“No…number three for the base,” the referee continued to stare at Shun strangely.

“What?” Shun was surprised.

“What the freak is this? I thought support class is useless? So confusing,” I heard the referee muttering.

“Are you sure you are a support class?”

“Yeah I’m a support buffer,” Shun insisted.

“I don’t get it at all…”

“Support Buffer? How can that be?” some of them are wondering what’s going on.

“Hey there’s a prize for this right? And when you run into the number two spot guy you have to tell me ahead of time,” Shun said.

“Why?”

“Uh well…I don’t want the number two rank’s reward. The number three rank reward is better,” Shun said.

“What? You are crazy kid,” the ref said.

“50 silver, take it. It’s part of the spoil,” Ox said.

Shun gazed at the 50 silver with new life in his eyes. “Thank you, I accept your offering!” Shun said while Ox stumbled away right after.

Wait! So this event, would he get money from each of them?!

“Hmm, next challenger!” Shun said while pocketing the money.
