I would like to say that I woke up without pain. That would be two lies. First, the pain never stopped. Second I never fell unconscious and thus couldn't wake up. I just regained the ability to move.

I was extremely aware of the energy that entered my body and what it did.

The Black green energy was the first to come in. What it did was break down my body, sending signals that it needed healing, aka pain, and when my body sent nutrients and shit to heal me, it stopped it from healing me while continuing to cause me pain.

The white rainbow energy came next. It spread throughout my body while changing color to something I couldn't see. I could feel it though. It had an easier time entering the damaged area and it clashed with the black green energy, allowing me to heal in those areas, and strengthening the areas where they clashed, aka every cell in my body.

Finally after the white and the black energy fully cancelled each other, the red energy came in and rapidly healed everywhere it went. It didn't remove the pain but I'm not dying now. Once it ran out of stuff to heal it started breaking my body down and healing it stronger. It was like a full body workout, times 300 and going all the way down to the cells in my bones. Luckily it didn't hurt, but I definitely felt the burn.

Now that all of the energies are gone I can move, but I'm so sore.

"Get up kid."

My everything hurts.

"Fine, I'll carry you kid. Even if it was by accident you did save my life."

"Thhhheeeeenk yu."

He picks me up and starts walking away, with me slung over his shoulder.

"You're welcome kid. Just so you know that was the most horrifying awakening I've ever seen."

He shakes his head.

"First you started glowing black and made a sizzling noise like you were melting, scared the shit outta me. Then you started glowing white and I sensed that you were tier one, I was surprised I could still sense tiers but I guess I'm not a normal tierless. Anyway when you stopped glowing the most horrifying part happened, your body started twitching and cracking, bulging and deflating, all your hair fell out and your skin peeled off, revealing smooth pink skin like a newborn."

I already had an idea since I was forced to watch the energies in my body, but the description was still freaky.

"You awakened yeah? What ability do you have, mine or a different one? Every awakened knows the name of their ability and how to use it, you just have to figure out the details."

"Crystal manipulation."

"What, like gemstones? Diamonds, rubies?"

"I don't know, but I can sense something around here."

"We're in a clothing store, all the jewelry was stolen years ago."

"It feels like it's all around us, above, below, everywhere."

"The fuck? Is it in the walls? They're made of concrete, who puts gems in concrete? Who the hell makes a concrete building into a clothing store?"

"I don't think it's in the walls, I think it is the walls. It's been years since my highschool science class, do you know if concrete is some kinda crystal?"

"I have no idea, but I know a way to find out. Put your hand on the wall."

He walks over to the wall next to the backdoor and shifts me around until I could put my hand on the wall.

The moment my hand came into contact with the wall I felt the same feeling from when the energies were in my body, but instead it extended out into the wall and spread out from there, into the ceiling, the other walls, the glass doors and metal doorframes, the rebar in the concrete, and all the way to the bottom of the concrete foundation.

"Fuck that's a lot"

"Well? How is it? Most tier ones can only sense within a few feet, how far can you see?"

"I can see from the roof of the building, all the way to where the foundation meets the bedrock."

"That's about as far as a tier four can see. You're really out of the norm kid."

"It gets better."

"How so kid? You can control an entire buildings worth of concrete, at tier one. Concrete's the fourth most powerful manipulator power."

"I can sense the rebar in the concrete!"

"What's rebar? Oh! Holy shit! You can control metal too!"

Controlling metal might not seem like it's much more powerful than concrete, but it is in fact one of the top ten most dangerous powers. The reason for it's high ranking is exclusively due to it's ability to counter guns. Like Alexander said before, guns are useless against tier ten or higher, however, for the majority of the tiered, who average around tier three, guns are still the most dangerous weapon. There are four common abilities that can ignore this weapon completely.

Invulnerability; Superspeed; Danger sense or other precognition powers; and of course; Metal control.

How do you shoot someone when the bullets curve away from them? Metal controllers are one of the worst enemies to fight. Bringing any kind of weapon into the fight is just giving the enemy more ammunition to attack you with. Most armor can't be worn either. Jewelry, piercings, loose change, the zipper on your clothes, all of it is ammunition for the metal controller's most dangerous attack.

Metal controllers can turn metal into liquid at will, drowning or burying their enemies in metal. Metal controllers, like all control types are not allowed to be captured, since they can easily escape using their powers, most can be exchanged for hostages during conflict but not metal controllers. When an enemy metal controller is captured, they are executed on the spot.

"Congrats kid, you're now someone with a bounty on his head just for being alive."
