Chapter 1: Prologue

A woman let out a painful cry.

“The head is out! You're almost there, Kushina!”

“Keep pushing, Kushina!”

The Nine-Tails struggled, roaring so loudly in its dimension that everyone in the room felt its rage.

"Naruto, get out of there! And you, Kyubi, you stay where you are!”

Minato Namikaze, the Yondaime Hokage, was tense. And yet, he wasn’t the one giving birth. Kushina screamed again. She was Minato’s wife. Baby’s cries filled the room. It was Naruto, their son.

“Quick, hot water!”

“Yes, ma'am!”

Naruto was finally born.

“It's good.”

Minato was relieved. His son had been born, and they were able to prevent the Nine-Tails from breaking the seal. Everything had gone well. Biwako went to introduce Naruto to his mother.

“Congratulations, he's an energetic little boy!”

The tension of childbirth had completely transformed into a scene of intense emotion.

“Haha! Looks like I'm a dad!” Minato exclaimed with tears in his eyes.

“Naruto…” said Kushina looking in wonder at her newborn son. “Finally I can meet you.”

But it wasn't over.

“Alright, Kushina, Minato said, regaining his seriousness. “I know you're exhausted from the delivery, but we have to keep Kyubi completely sealed!”

“You’re right.”

Minato was about to permanently close the seal, when screams were heard, followed by the sound of bodies falling on the ground.

“Lady Biwako, Raja!”

The two women lay motionless on the ground.

A newcomer was standing in the room, a masked man, carrying in his arms, the newborn Naruto.

“Fourth Hokage… Minato,” he said calmly, but in a threatening tone, that anyone could hear.

“Get away from the Jinchuriki, or your son dies at the age of 77 seconds.”

Minato kept his composure. His wife was exhausted by his side, and his son was in danger. He couldn’t afford to panic.

How did he get past the barrier? Who is that guy? The young Hokage wondered.

Preparing to act, Minato was interrupted by his wife’s moans. Turning towards her, he saw that Kyubi's seal was weakening by the second.

“Kushina!” He exclaimed, suddenly panicking. “The seal is not completely closed!”

“Get away from the Jinchuriki,” the masked man repeated, quickly seizing a kunai which he pointed to the child.

“Does your son's life mean so little to you?”

One thing was certain, he was not bluffing. His two victims lying in the room were proof of that.

“Wait, wait. Calm down!”

“You should take your own advice, Minato. I am perfectly calm.”

With that, the masked man tossed the baby into the air, seemingly ready to be done with him.

“Naruto!” Kushina screamed in panic.

Minato, meanwhile, didn't hesitate. A split second later, he was in the air and grabbed his son before landing behind the mysterious man. The baby was safe and sound in his arms.

“You live up to your nickname of Yellow Flash,” the masked man commented. “But now what?”

The sound of explosive tags igniting alerted Minato. The blanket Naruto was wrapped in was full of the tags ready to explode. Swiftly and without hesitation, Minato sent the cloth behind him and protected his son with his body.

“Minato!” Kushina yelled. ”Naruto!”

The explosion destroyed part of the room, ejecting Minato who had just used his Hiraishin No Jutsu.

"Thank god... " he sighed, looking at his son, relieved. “You're not hurt…”

He removed a piece of wood stuck in his leg following the explosion and looked at it worriedly.

He's after Kushina, he thought suddenly, throwing the stick in the air. He forced me to use my technique to separate us!

Minato didn't hesitate for a second.

"I better hurry," he told himself, vanishing from the scene as the stick fell to the ground.

Under the full moon, tied with a seal to various rocks overlooking a small lake, Kushina couldn't move.

“What do you want?” She asked the masked man standing before her.

“I came to rip the Nine-Tails out of your belly and use it to destroy Konoha.”

“What?!”

The man wasn’t just anyone. If his tone remained neutral and devoid of expression, his words were like a stab at the poor Kushina, already in a weak state.

“Minato's teleportation technique uses special marks allowing him to move instantly from one to another.” The masked man stated, his single eye fixed on the young woman's stomach. “I see he incorporated one into the design of your seal. All this to be there to protect you... But I was able to get you away from him.”

His eye was clearly visible through his mask. A Sharingan...

"And the seal has been greatly weakened by the birth of your son," he continued. “Do you have any idea of how long I've waited for this moment?”

He then stared Kushina straight in the eye.

Little Naruto had curiously fallen asleep.

"You'll be safe here..." Minato whispered, gently laying his son in his bed. “You will wait alone for a while, Naruto. I have to go back to save your mother before it's too late.”

The power of his Sharingan was the real deal. A direct gaze allowed him to reach the Nine-Tails trapped inside Kushina.

“You... !” Kyubi started.

But he didn't have time to do or say anything else. The power of the eye was already affecting the tailed beast.

“Get out, Nine-Tails!” The masked man shouted.

But a dark force held Kyubi back. For some unknown reason, the masked man had failed.
