“The Pervy Sage?!” Naruto said. “Last night he was only talking about women…”
Minato laughed and hugged Naruto.
"Let's go," Minato said. “But Naruto, promise me one thing…”
“Alright, but in exchange, you'll teach me the Rasengan!”
Minato winked at him, then regained his seriousness.
“Do not reveal the identity of the man from earlier. Just say you didn't know him.”
The next moment, they were in the middle of their living room, with Kushina, Mikoto, and Jiraiya.
Kushina rushed at Naruto.
“I'll meet you there,” Minato said before vanishing again.
Jiraiya frowned as Kushina hugged her son.
“Oh, Naruto! I am so sorry! I got mad at you and then…”
“No worries Mom! Now I can bring back report cards as bad as I want, and you won't have the right to scold me!”
“Don't even think about it,” Kushina threatened.
Jiraiya burst out laughing.
“I could write a book about this.”
Naruto and Kushina abruptly turned their heads towards him, giving him a dirty look. Jiraiya immediately fell silent.
“Naruto, you must be shocked by what you saw…” Mikoto said in a soft voice.
“Me? Shocked? No way! I'm Naruto Uzumaki, and I'm not afraid of anything!”
Kushina and Jiraiya gave each other an amused look.
“That's good,” Mikoto continued with the same gentle tone. “Because I want to know what happened.”
Everyone was silent, everyone except Naruto.
“Hahaha, he was afraid of me! When he saw who I was, he almost apologized!”
Jiraiya sighed.
“What? Naruto got angry, staring at the Sannin.
“Watch yourself, boy! I'm one of the three legendary great Sannin, the one who traveled the world, the one who…”
“Who?” Mikoto cut in, ignoring them.
“The guy who wanted to kidnap me.”
Mikoto sighed. Jiraiya slapped his head with his hand.
"What an idiot," he muttered.
“What ?! Who are you calling an idiot?”
“That’s enough!” Mikoto yelled, her eyes turning red.
Everyone fell silent again. Everyone except Naruto.
“Ah! Not these eyes again!”
“Well, we're getting somewhere,” Mikoto said. “So he had these eyes?”
“Eh... No,” Naruto said suddenly, realizing his blunder. “It wasn't...completely...like that!
“Not completely?” Mikoto wondered. “I see…”
Mikoto deactivated her Sharingan.
“Well, well… So it was Shisui Uchiha, right?”
How did she guess it?! Dad's gonna kill me… Naruto thought.
“What?! No, he didn't attack me; he just talked to dad!” Naruto said fearing that his father would learn that he hadn't kept his word just minutes after his promise.
There was another silence, then...
“Well, let's go eat ramen, Mikoto said. “I'm starving.”
Kushina and Jiraiya glanced furtively at each other.
At the entrance of the village, Minato was finishing a speech in front of a group of shinobis belonging to the ANBU.
“I have faith in all of you. Do as I told you, and let me know of anything new.” The Yondaime concluded.
Away from the village’s gates, in the Uchiha district, the young Sasuke was reviewing his lessons for the next day.
One day, I'll be better than you, big brother! he thought, to motivate himself. There was a knock on the door.
“Big brother, are you home yet?” Sasuke whispered, getting up and opening the door.
Arriving at Ichiraku's restaurant, the group found Minato there. He gave them a warm smile, and everyone placed their order. The evening turned into a contest of who could eat the most.
“Haha, dad, you're so bad,” Naruto said.
The two women looked at each other in exasperation.
“Mikoto,” Kushina said, in an uncertain voice. “Regarding what you learned earlier... The identity of the attacker…”
“You know what I like about you, Kushina?” Mikoto then said laughing. “You always go straight to the point.”
She was silent for a moment.
“You're talking about Shisui; I imagine?”
Kushina nodded silently.
“Well, what do you want me to do?” Mikoto then said with an exaggerated smile. “I am no longer the head of the Uchiha clan…”
“Rasengan!”
In the middle of the evening, after eating many bowls of ramen, Minato and Jiraiya made the famous jutsu appear, under the amazed eyes of Naruto.
“Too strong!” Naruto yelled. I want to be able to do it…”
“One day, Naruto, you will learn the Rasengan. You are my son, after all.”
With these words, Minato stood up, removing his Hokage cloak and putting it around Naruto.
“It's a little big now. But one day, I'm sure, It'll fit you perfectly, my future Hokage.”
Jiraiya got up.
“Oh oh! Let me try it, Minato.”
“Absolutely not! You will stretch it, sensei.”
“Come on, I’m sure you have others in your closet.”
“It’s the only one,” Kushina muttered. “He had it custom-made just for him…”
Mikoto burst out laughing and also stood up.
“Well, I have to get going,” she said. “Even though Itachi is home, I don't really like leaving Sasuke alone these days.”
“I understand,” Kushina whispered, winking at her friend.
“Thank you... Thank you all; I had fun tonight! She said sincerely.
She was about to leave when she came face to face with an ANBU. She stopped, turning to Minato, then back to the ANBU.
“What is it?” Minato asked.
“Mikoto Uchiha,” the ANBU called.
She frowned.
“What?” She asked abruptly.
"It's about... your son..." The masked shinobi replied.
An expression of anguish appeared on Mikoto’s face.
“Sasuke Uchiha... was badly injured.”
Everyone remained silent, including Naruto.
Mikoto collapsed, half losing consciousness. But before she hit the ground, she was caught by Minato. He turned to the others.
“We are going to the hospital. Kushina, take care of Naruto. Jiraiya-sensei…”
“I know,” The Sannin promptly said, running out of the room.
Minato turned to Mikoto. She seemed to gradually regain her senses. Her gaze was horrified, and the more her strength returned, the more Minato felt her agitation.

Kushina left the room with Naruto, while Minato disappeared with Mikoto.
The ANBU was about to leave when a hand landed on his shoulder.
“The bill...” said Ichiraku, in a solemn tone.
Minato and Mikoto had just appeared in the Konoha Hospital, one of the most important places in the village, which Minato had marked. The front desk staff didn't seem surprised to see them. Without them even having to speak, they were instantly shown the room where the injured boy was.
Upon entering, Minato saw an ANBU sitting at Sasuke's bedside. But Mikoto ignored him and immediately ran up to her son, whom she wanted to take in her arms. With a quick gesture, the ANBU raised an arm. Minato put his hand on a kunai by reflex.
But the ANBU was only stopping Mikoto from moving forward.
“Let go of me!” She yelled angrily.
With his other arm, the ANBU removed his mask. Minato released his kunai. It was Itachi.
"Let him rest, mother..."
Minato stepped forward to look at Sasuke's condition.
He didn't have the slightest trace of blood on his clothes, and yet he seemed completely injured all over. He appeared to be in a weakened state.
Was it Genjutsu? The Yondaime pondered for himself.
There was a dull noise. Mikoto had just slapped Itachi. The latter did not react.
“I trusted you! I told you to protect him!”
Minato, feeling out of place and uncomfortable in this family drama, started to leave.
“Wait, Minato,” Mikoto said, in an authoritative voice.
He turned around.
“Can... Can you stay for a while? She asked in a low voice.
Minato nodded silently and came to stand between Itachi and his mother.
“What happened?” Mikoto asked her eldest son, her voice oscillating between fury and fear.
“Everything happened so fast. He got attacked. The assailant fled when I arrived. I decided to tend to Sasuke and not pursue the individual.”
“Who was the attacker?”
“I didn't see his face because he had his back to me... A short individual with long hair.”
Mikoto frowned, searching her memory for an individual with such characteristics. Minato knew well it was useless. With so little information, it would be impossible to get an accurate idea of the person.
A nurse came into the room. Everyone turned to her.
“How is my son?" Mikoto asked, in an almost pleading voice.
“His life is not in immediate danger,” the nurse replied, in a reassuring tone. His condition has stabilized... Your son is strong. Not many people would have survived…”
“What happened to him?”
“It's... peculiar…”
With a quick gesture, Mikoto grabbed the nurse by the collar.
“Be more specific!” She screamed suddenly, shaking the young woman with force.
Minato stopped her.
“Calm down, Mikoto,” he said, while the nurse took the opportunity to run away, terrified.
"And why is she running away?" Mikoto asked angrily.
“You scared her, Mikoto,” Minato replied, finding the young woman's reaction a bit excessive as well.
Mikoto sighed.
Time passed. No one moved. Nobody was talking. They could hear the weak breathing of little Sasuke. This breath of life, so fragile...
From time to time, Mikoto would start pacing around.
The clouds paraded outside. The slightest whisper of the wind alerted Mikoto's ears, who straightened up immediately, staring at Sasuke with a look full of hope.
After a while, the clouds pushed by the wind gave a glimpse of a crescent moon which, from the window, illuminated the little boy.
And then, suddenly...
“Mother... Big brother…”
Mikoto, with tears in her eyes, took Itachi in her arms, then did the same with Minato, failing to hug the fragile Sasuke who had just woken up.
Minato, tired, put a hand on Itachi's shoulder.
"Take care of your mother... and your little brother..." he whispered, before walking away.
But just as he reached the door, he was again interrupted. This time, no one in the room had called him back, but four individuals were about to enter.
Minato recognized them immediately.
Inabi, Tekka, and Yashiro Uchiha appeared with, at their head...
“Shisui Uchiha,” Minato whispered.
“Yondaime Hokage,” Shisui greeted him as if they hadn't seen each other for a long time.
Minato stepped aside to let them pass.
A doctor came to invite Minato and Itachi to leave the room to save Sasuke from having too many people at once. However, she let his mother stay.
Mikoto had fallen asleep at the bedside of her son.
But Itachi, staring straight ahead, had already walked away.
“Sasuke Uchiha ,” Shisui said. “We have a few questions for you…”
Minato went out with the doctor.
“What happened to him?” He asked her. “The nurse who came by left a little hastily before she could tell us anything.”
“It's just…” The doctor started, in a hesitant voice. “We have discovered the type of wounds of the young Uchiha…”
“Please tell me.” The Yondaime said in a soft voice, feeling his interlocutor very tense.
“Listen,” she began. “Our role is not to manage the internal conflicts of the village... We are doctors, not politicians…”
“What are you talking about?” Minato asked, surprised by her reaction.
Shisui activated his Sharingan. Sasuke looked at him terrified.
Inabi took a step forward.
“What happened?”
"He... He attacked me..." Sasuke whispered. "He was strong, really strong... His blows... I couldn't parry them... As if he was hitting me from the inside…”
The doctor sat down on a chair, putting her head in her hands.
"I couldn't refuse them that..." the doctor whispered, in a very small voice. “They're Konoha Police... I... I couldn't... Right?”
Minato sat down beside her and put a warm hand on her back.
“You didn’t do anything wrong...” he replied in a reassuring tone.
It was Tekka's turn to step forward.
“What did he look like?”
"A little taller than me... About my age..." Sasuke muttered, which elicited an exchange of surprised looks from the members of the Police. “Long black hair…”
The doctor seemed to have calmed down slightly.
“Yondaime Hokage... If the Uchihas found out…”
Yashiro was right in front of Sasuke.
“No particular sign?”
Sasuke frowned.
“Yes... His eyes…”
Minato frowned.
“Why? What should they not learn?”
“Well... We analyzed his wounds closely... His Tenketsus were closed…”
Sasuke stared at Shisui, who seemed to have understood.
“His eyes... They were white.”
Minato felt his heart jump in his chest. Four Konoha Police Uchiha were currently in the presence of an injured victim. Four Uchihas… who possessed the Sharingan. They would merely have to activate it to find out the whole truth from the boy. Minato quickly returned to the room. The doctor, still on her bench, shivered. But the four Uchihas had activated their Sharingan, staring at Sasuke.
The Yondaime had arrived too late...
