The night in Konoha was freezing. The trees had all lost their leaves, except for the ones whose thorns bravely resisted the most severe cold. But on this cloudless night at the end of the year, dimly lit by the crescent Moon, there was at least one place breathing a warmth that no cold could upset.
In the hospital, a woman had given birth.
“What a beautiful little girl!” The midwife said, amazed, contemplating the pale eyes of the baby.
The mother, whose eyes were identical, looked at the little girl tenderly.
“Hinata.”
The next day, Minato, dressed in his usual Hokage cloak, was chatting with a small group consisting of Hiruzen Sarutobi, Danzô Shimura, and the two Konoha elders, Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado. They were members of the Konoha Council.
“It's been months, and no investigation has been conducted,” Danzo stated. “It is important to take concrete action.”
“Danzo is right,” Koharu blurted out. “We cannot stand by idly.”
"Measures have already been taken," Hiruzen replied. “The Uchihas are being watched. The masked man is probably directly or indirectly linked to the clan. However, this does not mean that we should punish them all.”
“So, even if we know the perpetrator is one of them, we monitor but we don't sanction?” Danzo asked impatiently. “That's what you want, Hiruzen?”
“Not at all,” Minato intervened. “But what The Sandaime and I don't want is to blame a whole clan for the action of one individual. It would be the best way to enter into civil war. It is as ridiculous to blame a whole clan for the fault of a single individual as it is to blame a village for the crime of one of its shinobis.”
“However, if a shinobi from another village attacks ours, I dare to hope that we won't remain idle,” Danzo blurted out, avoiding Minato's gaze.
“It is because of people like you that wars continue to exist.”
Danzo finally looked at Minato.
“Yondaime Hokage, when will you recognize that since its foundation, the Uchiha clan has always caused trouble for the village?"
The door flew open, revealing a red-hair fury.
“Shut up! You are the trouble here! One of these days if you continue to tell us your nauseating discriminatory principles, I'm going to throw all the power of Kyubi in your face!”
The atmosphere abruptly changed into a heavy silence. The two elders looked very uncomfortable. Minato was biting his lip to keep himself from bursting out laughing as Kushina gave him an amused wink. Danzo, despite his impassive air, preferred not to reply. He was not crazy enough to see if Kushina was going to follow through with her statement. Hiruzen cleared his throat, with a fake grave air that showed the old Hokage was also doing his best not to smile.
”Hmm, anyway, that's not the point.”
Minato, after gradually calming down, sent a puzzled look at Kushina who turned as red as a tomato.
“I just received an urgent letter from one of your old friends.”
Minato looked at her, worried.
“It's Hiashi; his wife just gave birth yesterday!” Kushina said enthusiastically.
“That's wonderful!” Minato said, sincerely happy to hear the news.
“And he's inviting us to a traditional party tonight. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that it would be a shame to miss it. I'll let you work now and... see you tonight, ya know.”
Minato smiled at her. He was happy for Hiashi and touched to be invited to the party which, usually, was only open to members of the clan. He knew he was not invited as Hokage but as a friend. Once his wife left, Minato apologized, and they resumed their conversation as if nothing had happened. Kushina's unpredictable behavior was tolerated because she was both the Hokage's wife and the village's Jinchuriki. Moreover, she had a knack for making Minato uncomfortable by discrediting him... which he always forgave.
After taking care of business, Minato returned home to find a Kushina seemingly overwhelmed by Naruto's behavior.
“Ah, Minato, you're right on time.” She said, hair disheveled and looking exhausted. I may have the largest chakra reserve in Konoha, but that little rascal takes all my energy!”
“We know who he takes from,” Minato said, a smile on his face.
“What?! Say that again!”
Minato took her in his arms and kissed her.
“Come on, go take a shower and get ready for the evening... I'll take over.”
As Kushina left the room, Minato turned to Naruto. He was sitting on the floor, among broken lamps and empty baby bottles. He was now playing with a small blue ball which he threw at Minato.
“You will eventually become a perfect Rasengan user,” Minato sighed. “But for now, my son, I’ll leave you in the care of friends.”
“Kuchiyose No Jutsu!”
Two little toads appeared from the summoning technique.
“Minato, why are you summoning us and not Bunta? Is the enemy that powerful? Besides, where is your opponent?”
Minato, embarrassed, showed him the little Naruto who was currently having fun with one of his kunais.
“Hey!” The other toad shouted, snatching the kunai from him. “Don’t play with that, you brat!”
“Stop it, Pa, he's going to... And here it is, he's crying…”
“It would make Kushina and myself very happy if you could take care of Naruto for the evening.”
Minato looked at them, uncomfortable.
“Which you will do wonderfully, I have no doubt.”
“Ouch! Ma, he just hit me. He's got strength, that kid... like Jiraiya…”
“And if you could change his nappies... “ Minato added timidly.

The two toads suddenly turned their heads towards him, their eyes wide open.
“That's a funny one! What …”
“Stop it, Pa. It couldn't be worse than when we were doing it for Bunta Boy.”
“Don't talk to me about it, Ma!”
Minato smiled at them, still uncomfortable.
“Thank you for everything! You saved my life! Kushina would have killed me if I hadn't planned for Naruto…”
“What it is?” Kushina yelled coming out of the shower.
“Oh nothing, darling!”
Minato scratched his head and then helped the toads put away the items Naruto had piled up. Kushina came back into the room.
“Ah, Kushina, you are ready,” Minato said, busy fixing his son's carnage. “I’ll get ready in a second and I…”
He didn’t finish his sentence. He had just lifted his head and remained frozen in wonder at Kushina's beauty. She was wearing a very pretty blue dress.
“You... You are... beautiful…”
Kushina blushed.
“Stop it; don't exaggerate, ya know.”
As the evening went on, Minato and Kushina, dressed in elegant outfits, went to the area where the Hyugas lived. The party took place in a large square, in the moonlight, with access to the residence of the main family. As soon as they arrived, they received many greetings from the members of the clan.
“Yondaime Hokage!”
“Lady Kushina!”
“It's a pleasure to have you here!”
“How are you?”
After replying to the warm greetings, Minato saw the individual he was looking for in the distance. Dressed in his usual haori, Hiashi Hyuga approached them.
“Minato! Kushina! It is an honor for me to welcome you here.”
“We appreciate the invitation,” Minato answered, a big smile on his face.
“Where is your lady?” Kushina asked quite abruptly.
“She is taking care of Hinata. She will try to come by if she can.”
“Ah, yes, I know what it is like,” Kushina said, smiling.
"How's your son...Naruto?"
“Oh, he's an energetic one.”
After a few exchanges, Hiashi left to welcome members of the clan. Later, Hizashi Hyuga came to greet them.
“I understand that you have lots of guests, but you've already welcomed us.”
“Kushina, it's Hizashi, his twin brother…”
“Ah... Yes, of course.”
If Minato had no problem differentiating the two twins, Kushina had already been wrong many times. Upon asking about his young son, Neji, Minato wished him well, and Hizashi left to welcome new guests.
“Minato,” Kushina said shyly. “Do you mind if we go sit somewhere else? I have the impression that we are the only ones here not from the clan. Besides, it's been a long time since the two of us are alone on a date…”
Minato nodded. They went to sit on a bench apart, without leaving the place to avoid being rude. Kushina then rested her head against her husband's shoulder and gazed at the stars in wonder, her red hair spread over him.
“It's magnificent... All these stars…”
Kushina then closed her eyes and fell asleep. Minato was stroking her red hair, lost in thought.
"Your hair is so beautiful... Kushina."
She then stood up abruptly. Minato also jumped up, having heard a noise in the bushes. Looking around, he saw a red glow in the dark. A Sharingan… Minato pulled out a kunai and was prepared to instantly eliminate the threat.
“Who are you? What do you want?”
The person took a step forward, revealing a woman’s figure.
"Well then, don't you recognize me? Yondaime Hokage... Or should I say, Minato?”
A smiling Minato put away his kunai.
“Mikoto!”
