A few years later:

POV Tanya:

A tall, middle-aged man in shiny lamellar armour engraved with silver and gold stood before Tanya, his back straight like a pole. A long blue cape flowed down his shoulders, his posture and aura screaming with power and experience.

Tanya sat in her chair opposite the man, with her legs crossed and her long black hair flowing down her shoulders.

"General, I don't believe I can allow your expedition army to use my barony as their base. There is finally peace after past stormy years. We need time to fully recover and can't afford to support the presence of your men on this territory."

"Lady Azerlisia, I can assure you that my men are highly disciplined, and all of the supplies will be arranged by our own means..."

"Stop right there, general. You are from a province in the centre of our kingdom. This is a border region. Mountains are full of dangerous monsters and demihuman tribes. Your presence would just provoke them and bring their raids upon my territory."

The general turned back on his heels, his face red in anger. His steps resounded through the hall as he turned towards the exit, stopping only in the doorway, "Young lady if you are making trouble, I will have to go through the count Amalisia. You are young and don't realise the danger..."

"General, I think that you are just wasting here already strained resources of our kingdom, hunting for the beast that is likely no longer alive."

The general stormed out of the castle's audience chamber, his steps quickly vanishing in the distance of the long corridor.

'It has been years, yet they still didn't give up.' she sighed and relaxed in her chair.

POV Alesia:

The young elf stood on top of the tall cliff, looking at the outline of a large circle of stone bricks growing around the volcano where her master slept. Hundreds of tiny black dots rummaged down on the ground, carrying large stone blocks on their backs. Sounds of chiselling and hammers constantly resounded through the valley.

"Lady regent, the new shipment of metals from the order of immortal blood has arrived."

She turned back, her shiny eyes glittering in joy as she spotted a man in a hood holding a small box in his hands.

"Send them back a message that their contribution is acknowledged. Tell them the standard lies about getting closer to cracking the secret to immortality."

The shadow bowed while putting the chest on the ground and retreated backwards, the two golden glowing eyes shining under his hood.

'Haha, with this, it must work! These metals must be conductive and durable enough to sustain such power! Foolish mortals, promise them immortality, and they will gladly fund any research!'

Even more years later:

POV ???:

People sat around large campfires, their orange flames flickering and reflecting in the river flowing through the canyon. A few sentries with long spears patrolled around the perimeter, their chainmail clanging and their thick cloaks rustling.

"What danger? There was not a single monster during the day!"

The blue flags on poles stuck in the ground around the camp fluttered in the wind. Then suddenly, neon-red eyes flared up in the darkness all around the camp, loud howls resounding through the canyon with the eyes quickly multiplying.

Then red lights flashed across the whole canyon, raining upon the camping soldiers, passing and cutting through their armours.

"Ahhh!" cries filled the camp, with the river flowing through it turning red with blood.

A few days later:

POV General:

The general banged with his fist against an oak table that broke in half under the powerful blow. His face looked like a tomato as he read through a report.

"What nonsense is this? Monsters that vanish during the day and exist only during the night?! Send more soldiers. We will push through. Set more fires. Yes, we need more light. If they don't appear during the day, that likely means that they are scared of light."

The young soldier before him trembled, his face pale like chalk. "G-general... hundreds of soldiers died. We can't afford to send any more. Someone might start asking questions! These lost skyships have already brought lots of scrutiny on us. We can't afford any more of it."

"Alright, set a bounty. We will lure some mercenaries. No one will miss them."

POV Priest:

The priest sat in the tavern behind an old bench. His travelling clothes were ragged and covered in stains of travelling. A strong odour of alcohol reeked out of him as he stared at the bottom of a large empty mug.

'I have failed after all these years and found no traces of the blood. His Holiness will be punished, and it is all just my fault.'

A rough and drunk voice came from the neighbouring table, occupied by a rough-looking group of mercenaries, their faces covered in scars of battles.

"Have you heard? Some rich noble in the capital pays in gold for traces of the wyrm."

The priest sprung his ears, his interest quickly peaking.

"Haha, this is our opportunity to make some easy gold out of these greedy nobles!"

"Don't be stupid. The wyrm is long gone!"

"Does it matter? There must still be some traces even after all these years. We can turn them into gold! Maybe even find some hidden stash of gold!"

"We will buy some supplies and go into the mountains in one week."

'They are right. There is still hope.'

The priest jumped out of his chair and drunkenly walked towards the mercenaries, his steps unsteady under the influence of the alcohol, "Let me join you. I am a priest. I can heal. I don't want any rewards except for angel blood!"

"Are you stupid? Angels blood from a wyrm? Why not? Healing and blessing will be useful."

"Haha, welcome on board!"

(AN: Alright, please let me know if this kind of time skips in quick succession, moving the years with quickly switching between multiple chars and only showing some small bits is engaging or if I should simply skip until MC wakes up or maybe slow down.)
