Chapter 86: The Grand Final

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation  Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

Since it was still early, there weren’t many people at the swimming center.

Yu Yu entered the water after completing her warm-ups but she did not immediately start to do her strokes, rather choosing to stay rested on the ladder at the side of the pool. She appeared to be enjoying the moment as if she was taking a dip in the bathtub.

Whenever she was in a bad mood, she liked to float peacefully, as opposed to when she was in a good mood, she would then propel her limber waist and swim as gracefully as a little mermaid.

Most of the memories Yu Luocheng had about Yu Yu revolved around water.

Ever since she was a kid, Yu Yu loved water and was extremely fond of being wrapped by the cool and gentle liquid. When she wanted to escape from the hustle and bustle surrounding her, she would submerge herself into the water allowing the world around her to be instantly muted.

“Brother, which university do you plan on going to?” Yu Yu asked with a grin.

“I’m leaning toward Shanghai University. I will probably go there if I can make it through the exams,” Yu Luocheng replied.

Shanghai was a huge metropolitan city that was unparalleled to a small city like Lecheng.

“You are going there again?” Yu Yu muttered.

“I’m going there to study this time,” Yu Luocheng answered.

“Great! It’s bad to be so addicted to gaming.”

Yu Luocheng was too lazy to argue with her, so he changed the subject. “When are you going back to the academy?”

“In a few days… My coach has asked me to participate in some pre-qualifiers.” Yu Yu scooped up a handful of water and let it pour down her face slowly.

The sparkling water streamed down her supple skin and trickled down from her face to her long neck, down to her collarbone and into the crevice of her breasts. It was a sight that made it near impossible to tear your eyes away from.

“Are you graduating soon?” Yu Luocheng asked.

Yu Yu had been in training for several years now, and her coach was finally ready to release her into the real world.

To be honest, Yu Luocheng wasn’t sure how far she could reach once she’d set foot into the competitive world. Perhaps, in the distant future, he could even watch reports of her on television.

“Yeah…” Yu Yu responded with a smile.

All of a sudden, a myriad of thoughts came flooding into Yu Luocheng’s mind.

Before he had realized it, Yu Yu had dunked herself into the pool irritably. The last thing Yu Luocheng saw was a pair of slim legs splashing the water heavily, similar to how a little mermaid would cheekily splash water, onto his face.

After paddling a considerable distance away, Yu Yu reemerged through the water surface, laughing at Yu Luocheng, who was busy wiping his face. Sticking her tongue out at him, she quickly dived back into the water when she caught Yu Luocheng glaring at her.

While she swam underwater, Yu Luocheng could see her beautiful figure through the crystal clear water as she glided through the water with practiced agility and elegance. The well-balanced curves of her body made her swimming posture a sight to behold.

Yu Luocheng lay in the same spot, pillowing his head with his arm as he watched his little sister glide freely in the “sky” that belonged to her.

It was hard to blame his parents for treating her as one of their own. She was more obedient, thoughtful, and also an admired student of a famous swimming coach. She had a bright future laid out in front of her.

‘In contrast, I am nothing. Even if I enrolled in a good university, Yu Luocheng would still be a nobody. An insignificant existence among the sea of people.’

Yu Luocheng immersed his head under the water, and just as Yu Yu said, the entire world quieted down, leaving him alone; just him and his thoughts.

‘But why is this supposed silence filled with chanting and screaming? Why is my name being called? Why do I see a lot of crying faces whenever I close my eyes? There is also another person in there, pointing at me and accused me of being a runaway…’

‘I wanted to apologize. I wanted to know if they were doing well…’

***

Splash!!!

A wave of water suddenly surged toward Yu Luocheng, disrupting his “meditation”.

As he surfaced, he saw a pretty face drizzled with water droplets slowly sneaking away again after pranking him for the second time. He forced a smile on his face and threw himself into the pool behind her.

Throughout the following days, Yu Luocheng continued to visit the Rising Dragon to train with Team Scarlet, but only during the night.

Today, they finished their training at around 1-2 a.m., like they usually did, and Yu Luocheng returned home after having supper with the crew.

His parents were fast asleep by the time he had reached home.

Yu Jing was recovering well after the surgery. He had come home yesterday after being discharged from the hospital which had charged them a ridiculously expensive fee.

After taking a hot bath, he went back to his room, pausing slightly before he pushed the room door open lightly.

A sliver of light entered the room, falling upon the smaller bed where Yu Yu was sleeping.

Yu Luocheng prepared himself for bed cautiously, so as to not wake his slumbering sister, and lay down on his own bedding.

“Bro,” Yu Yu’s voice drifted from the smaller bed.

“Why are you still awake at this hour?” Yu Luocheng asked in response.

“My bus leaves at ten o’clock tomorrow,” Yu Yu replied.

“You are leaving so fast?” Yu Luocheng was mildly surprised.

“Hmph, how many times have I told you?!”

“Well then, you’d better sleep early.” Yu Luocheng was exhausted. He hugged his cold pillow and closed his eyes.

“My coach told me that if I won a few medals…”

“Right, right…” Yu Luocheng could barely hear what Yu Yu was saying and just agreed mindlessly.

“I can choose to… then… I can meet you more frequently. Are you looking forward to it?”

Zzz~Zzz~

Yu Luocheng’s snoring was the only response that Yu Yu got.

Yu Yu’s voice instantly turned from gentle to high-pitched.

“You’re such a heartless worm! How dare you fall asleep when I’m talking to you?!” She threw her pillow at Yu Luocheng with all her might.

After tossing and turning for a bit, Yu Yu felt uncomfortable without her pillow, forcing her to remain wide awake. Finally, she gave up and crawled toward Yu Luocheng’s bed to retrieve it.

The cloudy weather always brought along an age-old problem to the guys—Should I effing bring an umbrella with me?

This was a problem that had riddled men for decades…

In the end, Yu Luocheng opted against it.

He was convinced that Yang Qianqian would bring one, so there would be chances of intimacy between them on their way back.

The Grand Finals of the Lecheng Tournament was set to begin at ten o’clock. The crowd had gradually built up after eight o’clock and many e-sport lovers were seen heading into the Grand Linca Emporium one after the other.

The viewing hall was fully occupied before the match officially began, obviously owed to the successful publicity campaign launched relentlessly by the emporium management team through all channels.

The viewing hall was not very spacious to begin with. The management had initially believed that one hall would be enough to accommodate all the LoL enthusiasts, but to their immense surprise, the place was rapidly filling up so much so that they had to direct the latecomers to the upper floors and free up the zones near the circular edge as a temporary auditorium.

As a result, the first and second floor of the electronic emporium was crowded by a few hundred audiences. This might very well be the busiest event Grand Linca Emporium has ever experienced.

Looking at the relatively huge crowd, Jacky Wong couldn’t hold back his laughter. ‘What a golden business opportunity!’

There was a lot of testing to be done before the finals began. All players were required to get to their seats beforehand. By nine o’clock, Yu Luocheng and the members of Team Scarlet were already prepared to take the stage.

Yu Luocheng was talking to Yin Qin when his phone rang and he picked it up without paying much attention to it.

“Where are you!?” Yu Yu’s fuming tone could immediately be heard from the other end of the phone.

“Oh hey, what’s the matter?”

“I leave at ten!” Yu Yu’s voice was cold.

“I’m kinda busy over here. Take good care of yourself,” Yu Luocheng replied.

“Yu Luocheng, I hate you!”

Du… Du…

Yu Yu’s voice resonated loudly ever after she hung up.

Everyone in the team looked at Yu Luocheng curiously including Yang Qianqian.

“It’s my sister,” Yu Luocheng, embarrassed, explained as quickly and straight to the point as he could.
