[Falling]

"Leanna, I'm glad you are trying to help. But you don't have to worry. I got everything under control. I'm going to return all your money to you."

That was fast. I thought.

It had only been two days since I decided to invest all my money in the Fay's business empire. I thought it would take a week before Cain would notice. Or hopefully never.

My fingers ran across the television screen, caressing his lovely face like he was in front of me.

"I miss you . . . ," I said instead of answering his question.

Cain was taken aback. He was surprised since I rarely said words of love. It was always him who said affectionate words.

He briefly closed his eyes and opened them with a newfound tenderness. His fingers motioned on the screen, caressing my face.

"I miss you too . . ."

. . .

. . .

"Cain, let me do this," I said after a long silence, "you can't just expect me not to worry when you say, 'don't worry.' We are a couple now. Your problem is my problem. I don't want to sit pretty and wait for you, knowing that you're in a predicament. It doesn't work that way. From now on, I want you to tell me everything that's been going on with you," I said with a serious face, eyes not leaving his.

. . .

. . .

After a moment of silence, Cain subtly lowered his head and covered his eyes with one hand as his body trembled ever so slightly.

"I wish I can be there with you right now and show you how happy and love you made me feel." His voice was soothing than usual with a tint of helplessness.

"Ahhh . . . What to do . . . I turned out loving you more than what I originally planned," he mumbled more to himself.

He removed his hand and looked at me with so much love I never knew possible. I didn't think he could still love me more than he already did.

Is this because I gave it my all?

He would return it to me with so much more?

If so, I don't mind giving my everything to him.

I was falling.

And falling hard.

There was no safety net. I removed it myself.

This was dangerous.

I know, I might never recover.

"Leanna, thank you," he said, breaking the short silence. "With your help, we can finally wrap this problem. Give me one more week to settle all of this. By then, I promise to return to your side."

My eyes closed tight. Just one more week!

Arf! Arf!

Little Pluffy, as soon he spotted Cain, he jumped on the screen, licking it like there was no tomorrow. His way of showing how much he missed him.

I laughed at the cuteness while Cain smirked at the little furball.

----

After the web call with Leanna, Cain called for his secretary, Cedrick, to come into his office.

The budding warmth on Cain's face vanished. There wasn't a single gleam of light coming from his cold eyes. It was so cold as if capable of freezing everything it looked upon.

Cain stared at Cedrick for a long time without speaking while Cedrick's expressionless poker face cracked as a tendril of dread ran along his spine. What could his young master want from him? Rather, Cain's piercing eyes always made his knees quake.

"Allocate Leanna Lee's money to all businesses the Goldwood's withdrew from."

No matter how many years Cedrick had been as Cain Fay's secretary, Cain's icy voice still sent chills down to his very bones.

"And . . . Make the necessary preparations. I want Leanna Lee as a member of the board in all of our businesses. Take fifty percent from my shares and transfer it to her name.

Cedrick's jaw almost dropped on the floor if it hadn't attached to his bone. He was having a hard time believing that his Boss would give a board position on some foreign stranger and fifty percent from his shares at that! For FREE?!

Cain Fay held most of the shares in all of the Fay's businesses. If he gave half of it to Leanna Lee, he might as well give half of the Fay's Empire to her.

"Well?"

Cedrick was rooted on the spot. He was waiting for Cain to say it a second time until the latter gave him a deathly stare.

"Right away," Cedrick said, suppressing the tremor of his voice as he sauntered out of the office.

As Cedrick dawdled in his office right across Cain's office, he was curious as to who this woman was to be able to please Cain Fay into giving her a position in the elusive Fay's Business Empire.

Many had wanted the shares, but none succeeded. It was not a secret that the major shareholders in the Fay's Empire were all allocated exclusively to the family only. It was the reason why his Boss gave his own shares to the foreign woman as outsiders couldn't bought the shares –– no matter the price.

Cedrick stopped in his tracks.

Can it be . . . ?

He dismissed the idea almost instantly.

[Pest]

It was a fine Monday morning as I was guiding my bike out of the condo. But my mood took a sharp curve downward when I spotted Rowan, leaning on his car that was parked outside of Azure Sky.

I paid him no mind and walked past him. I motioned to ride my bike when I heard his coy voice.

"Hello, Leanna. Let's go to school together. It'll be much faster in my car." He flashed me a flirtatious smile and motioned to grab my hand.

I recoiled.

It had been a long time since I felt that uncomfortable feeling. I got used to Cain's touch that I forgot –– I hate others, especially men, touching me.

"You don't have to be like that. I don't have a contagious disease, you know."

I highly doubt that.

He ignored the disgust on my face, and continued, "What's with that face? You've hurt my feelings. Now how do you plan to take responsibility?"

He grinned as he roamed his lustful eyes all over my body.

It took a lot of self-control on my part not to poke his eyes out. Better yet, I didn't want to waste my time on him anymore.

I rode my bike and zoomed towards the school's direction, but the guy was adamant about following me around. Much to my annoyance.

"Leanna, how about you and I have lunch together later? My treat. Where do you want to go? You can name every Michelin star restaurant you like and this big daddy will threat you to a delicious meal in all of them."

I didn't respond and continued to treat him like air.

"You know, the first time I saw you, I was beholden by your beauty. How about it? Wanna' have some fun with me? I promise it'll be worth your while."

I skid to a stop which made Rowan's smile stretched across his perverted face.

I searched inside my bag, grabbed my earphones, put it on, and resumed my way, leaving him fuming in disbelief.

----

Rowan licked his lips as he watched Leanna went off the distance. His eyes stalked her like a prey he refused to let go.

Well, things have gotten interesting.

His ego and pride took damage. He rarely approached girls, and when he did, it would always end on his bed. This was a first. He was not just ignored, he was also treated like air.

His face warped in a malicious grin. Challenge accepted.

----

"What's wrong with you?" I asked when Zoe's frowning face kept bothering me.

"Emma called me to meet at Grand Hotel later to have dinner," she said, in deep thought.

"And?"

Zoe leaned and crossed her arms. "And I think there is something fishy about it. Something tells me that I shouldn't go."

"Then you shouldn't."

'Yeah, but I already said yes."

I shook my head. "You're very confusing. If you don't want to go, then don't."

Zoe shifted her eyes left and right, a bit hesitant. "I know, but she insisted. She said it's to celebrate my first day at the university, which obviously is a little late."

"Hmm . . . That is suspicious."

Zoe thought for a minute before she waived her arms in dismissal and drank her soda. "Forget it! No use overthinking about it. I'll just get it done and over with."

I stared at her 'no care' expression for a moment and drank my tea. "Call me if something is up."

"Mmm . . . ," Zoe mumbled in respond and changed the topic. "By the way, where did Estela go?" She tilted her head and roamed her gaze in the cafeteria.

"She's absent. She said that she had to take care some family-related stuff."

Zoe pursed her lips. "Oh, must be hard being a Fay."

I shrugged my shoulders.
