Chapter 13: 12

The strong scent coming from the water made me dizzy. Being exposed for too long wouldn’t do me any good. 

It relieved my muscles for only 30 minutes. 

After being immersed in water for nearly 2 hours, I got out as dizziness started to get worse. 

I felt like spinach being boiled. A high quality spinach that smelled like roses. 

I leaned back to the back of the sofa, recalling what had happened a while ago. 

When Apollyon tried to get in my room someone appeared and coughed allusively. 

The man appeared out of nowhere. With his sudden appearance, Apollyon hurriedly disappeared from where the man had appeared. 

Later an old gentleman, whose hair is going slightly gray, replaced Apollyon’s place. 

Introducing himself as Walson, the butler of Pontus Palace, he guided me into the room I will be using from today on. 

The room I was assigned was neatly arranged, and was bearing preparations for the first night. 

The bed was even decorated with various scented candles and petals.

I spent a few hours just washing and preparing myself. 

As I got informed of when Apollyon should arrive, I realized no one was aware of his plans of ditching the first night. 

I had to stay alone in the room waiting for his return. This was due to Apollyon leaving the state empty for a few days to make preparations for the wedding, so the Grand Duchy’s work was delayed and piled up. 

I spent the time studying the room while waiting for him after I finished my bath. 

This room which was located on the second floor had several small rooms, including the study, washroom and the step in closet. 

The room I used at the Count’s Mansion was large and colorful as well, yet it was incomparable to the one I received in the Pontus Palace. 

What I liked the most was the round bed that was big enough for about six grown men to lie down comfortably.

There was a thin white bed canopy, and it was fascinating to see it flutter with the sea breeze that entered from the window.

In addition, I could watch the sea through the window while lying in bed. Which made the position perfect. 

After finishing my preparations just in time for Apollyon to arrive, I sent the maids out and sat down by the bedside.

Serena and Renee beared blushes along their faces as they left the room. Perhaps their young age, which if they were in modern Korea would be equal to a High School or College student, they were quite enthusiastic about having relationships. 

Before I knew it, a deep darkness covered the windows. I checked my reflection on the window with the help of a few candles I left lit. 

My golden hair was still moist as it didn’t fully dry out, and the color of my cheeks and lips was just like a fresh pink peony with the touch of light makeup. 

Thanks to the satin slip, my skin looked whiter and smoother, and my collarbones rising above my narrow shoulders were sharp.

‘Is it… too much?’

At first, I was thinking of wearing just one slip. Perhaps because I was born and raised in Korea*, I felt embarrassed somehow.

Above all, Apollyon would probably be more embarrassed than me. 

He was an extremely shy man. 

So I roughly put on the night robe that’s hanging next to the bed. At least he wouldn’t startle seeing me after this. 

It was already dark outside, yet senior servants including the butler and maids were located near my room. 

I was a little concerned about people being outside, but I felt more relaxed thinking that it was something that ordinary aristocrats usually go through.

I started devising a few points in my head while waiting for Apollyon. 

First of all, Apollyon hates taking off his mask, so I should be careful not to touch his mask. Turning off the lights would be better at that point, right? I didn’t know much but I knew he was sensitive about showing his appearance. 

After that, he was going to pay for the forehead kiss at the wedding. 

‘Then… what else should I do?’

According to the original novel, he was an inexperienced man. 

Of course, even when he was inexperienced, he was still the male lead of the original story so he did his part well, even though I remember him being clumsy at first. 

‘Should I… take the lead?’

Even though I had experience before I possessed this body, it was Petunia’s first time. 

And although I had experience, it was too far in the past. My last relationship was about 2 years ago. 

I hadn’t been in a relationship with many people, additionally to that I didn’t have much dating experience. So I wasn’t able to try various things. 

‘But it would be better than someone who has no experience, so I should take the lead, right? Besides, Apollyon is younger than me.’

On the outside, the age difference between Petunia and Apollyon was only two years.

However, considering my original age, I had already graduated and was studying for civil service exams… 

‘Yeah, I think I should take the lead.’

I nodded with a determination plastered on my face. 

I’ve read different things in novels, and never done them myself, so I didn’t know what to do much. 

But whatever way it was, wasn’t the first time always painful?

It was hard to start, but I hope to get used to it after the action is repeated a few times. 

I was imagining various situations as I tried to soothe my pounding heart. 

It seemed like a good idea to imagine as it was not possible to practice. 

‘Crazy…’ 

My face blushed as my imagination ran wild. 

I fanned my flushed face to cool it down. At this rate it wouldn’t be surprising if I got a nosebleed. 

I stopped imagining and laid on the bed, I had to calm my imagination. 

“Haa…”

I closed my eyes and began taking deep breaths. As my heart beat turned to normal, my mind started clearing up. 

‘What if I found out something weird about Apollyon while trying to take the lead? Would I have to say goodbye to the hot and exciting nights I’ve been imagining…?’

As I started thinking rationally, some pessimistic thoughts started showing up. 

‘Geez, that’s even worse…’

If I had known this would be the case, I would have studied for this action. As I wasn’t really interested, I didn’t prepare for this. 

Firstly, I shouldn’t be overdoing it from the start. As it could scare away Apollyon. 

Once he comes, we should start with small talk as we start taking off our night clothings…

“Hehe.”

As I planned the events that’ll take place a few hours later, I couldn’t help but giggle. 

A faint smile appeared on my face as I placed my hands on my red cheeks. The smile was evil as that of a devil’s. 

The kiss on the forehead. I was going to make him pay for it for sure!

As I was pacing next to the door, still thinking, a commotion broke out outside the door. It seemed like Apollyon, who didn’t make an appearance the whole, finally showed up.

I realized how late he was to show up.

When no one entered the room even after the commotion outside, I slightly opened the door.

Peeking out, I found Apollyon and Walson having a silent argument. 

“Apollyon?”

“…!”

Apollyon and Walson put a halt to their quarrel. 

Though their bodies didn’t make any move, Apollyon’s pupils were noticeably shaking. 

“You two… what are you doing there?”

Walson, who had been politely holding on Apollyon’s arm, removed his hand as he coughed. 

Emma, one of the maids, opened her mouth to break the awkward silence. 

“I-I was about to announce that His Grace has arrived!”

“…Really?”

I squinted and searched the three people’s faces one by one. 

It’s been too long after commotion that announcing his arrival now seemed absurd. 

“His Grace was being shy so we were just encouraging him.”

Unlike Emma who was mumbling, Walson replied calmly without showing any emotion. 

“Hmm, is that so?”

When I stared at them suspiciously, Apollyon reluctantly nodded. 

Walson gave a bright smile and pushed Apollyon from his back. 

“I’m glad you’re now at ease, Your Grace. I’ll be waiting outside, call me if you need anything.”

“Alright.”

I replied as I received Apollyon who was handed over like luggage by Walson. 

“Walson…”

Apollyon called out to Walson in a whisper, however Walson only smiled and nodded. 

As soon as the doors were shut, Emma and Walson’s bright smiles disappeared. 

Once I closed the door, I turned the lock. It was the time for the couple to enjoy themselves. 

With the locking sound Apollyon noticeably flinched. 

I pulled Apollyon away from the door. He was gently dragged by me while looking at the tightly locked door in sorrow. 

I let go of his wrist I was holding as we entered further into the bedroom. 

“Apollyon.”

“…”

“Honey?”

Apollyon flinched again with the word ‘honey’. He was looking down to the floor in an effort to avoid my gaze. Anyone who saw the situation would think that I was extorting money from the Archduke.

I took a step closer to him. Which made him take a step back. When I tried to approach him again, he retreated. We repeated the action a few more times. 

Without knowing there was the bed behind him, Apollyon kept stepping back, which eventually led him to trip over and fall on the bed. 

I quickly blocked him from escaping. I looked down at him, who was trapped in my arms as he was supporting himself up with his forearms. 

Apollyon, who was lying between my arms, trembled just like a prey caught by a predator. It was a cute act which didn’t match his size. 

“Apollyon?”

“…”

“Honey?”

“…”

“Darling?”

“…”

“My cute… blueberry cake?”

“…!”

Ah, now he was looking at me. 

I stared at him, noting that he’d only look at me if I called him something ridiculous.

*Not sure how I can explain this but, Korea used to have strict rules for not showing too much skin for idols so the public opinion used to not support racy clothing. I believe that opinion is no longer available in today’s Korea.
