[Zixu] «Pure Serenade» 03 - Eldest Young Master: My turn to get on stage and perform ~

When someone came to drag the Eldest Young Master away, he’d still not woken up. He’d been hungover for months, his mental state getting worse and worse, eating and sleeping without the least bit of regularity, without distinguishing between day and night. Fortunately, the heavy curtain of the Jade Building was thick enough, so he could sleep during the day without being bothered by the light.

It was funny, he’d been staying at the Eastern Jade House for a year, but he’d never once seriously listened to a song, or raised his eyes to look at that legendary number one beauty.

He was here only to hide.

Zhongli Zixu didn’t understand what his younger brother wanted at all. He only knew that the people he loved could not escape death.

The people he loved most.

When he realised this, he looked at that young guard, Ze Que, who’d been by his side for a long time, and suddenly broke out into a cold sweat. When he thought about the possibility of him and Ze Que being separated by life and death, he felt as though he was drowning, and he realised that he’d already fallen in love.

There was one day when he was drunk and not in his right mind, in which he couldn’t hold back and kissed his young guard.

As soon as he kissed him, those lonely, unmarked graves at the bottom of Wuding Cliff immediately appeared before his eyes. His drunkenness immediately vanished like smoke in the air, as though he’d fallen into an icy cave.

The only good thing was that Ze Que had also been drunk that day, so when the Eldest Young Master flatly denied it happening, Ze Que believed him.

Ze Que only spoke a faint sentence carrying a sense of disappointment: “Turns out it was a dream….. what a shame.”

Since then, he didn’t dare have any more contact with Ze Que, and had no choice but to stay away from Zhongli Court, and make excuses to send Ze Que away.

Ze Que was naive in the ways of the world, and his mind was very simple, so he didn’t know how to read into people’s words and expressions.

On the times when the two brothers met, the Second Young Master would causally order Ze Que to do some small matter, but Ze Que stubbornly stuck out his neck and refused: “I only listen to the Eldest Young Master, I do what the Eldest Young Master tells me.”

The Second Young Master didn’t seem angry, he just looked at him with eyes curved into a smile: “Oh, you deserve to be my older brother’s man, I really can’t order you around.”

Hearing this, the Eldest Young Master jumped out of his skin in fear, pulling him behind his back and sincerely advising: “In the future, just do whatever the Second Young Master tells you, don’t ask, and don’t question him, remember?”

Ze Que asked blankly: “Why? Aren’t you my Master?”

The Eldest Young Master didn’t dare tell him about these ruthless and underhanded ways behind the Second Young Master’s back, so he could only lie to him and say: “He and I are brothers, so naturally we are of one mind, his ideas are certainly also my ideas. I’m often not at Zhongli Court, so you just have to listen to what he tells you.”

Ze Que didn’t really understand: “Oh….. alright.”

He knew very well that he did not have the ability to protect this little guard himself, so it would be better for him to follow the Second Young Master and be safe.

At first, the days of avoiding seeing people were hard, but he gradually got used to them. Borrowing this reason to quietly hide away for a lifetime was not necessarily a bad thing.

Even though he was lonely, he didn’t want to implicate anyone again.

Unexpectedly, after half a year of peaceful hiding, he suddenly received the news that Yue Changsheng wanted to invite him into his tent.

The Eldest Young Master waved his hand and declined, still asleep: “No thanks, no thanks….. I’m very good here.”

“What are you being shy for! Go, go!” Yue Chou didn’t allow for an explanation as he dragged the Eldest Young Master out and pulled him onto a small boat.

The Eldest Young Master got on the boat, basking in the sun for a while before gradually coming to his senses. Apart from the water lilies, only his small boat slowly pushed through to the heart of the lake, attracting attention. The guests on the other Jade Buildings all had their sights focused solely on him, and their tongues were already wagging.

The Eldest Young Master’s heart thumped: After this is over, the whole city will know I met Yue Changsheng.

Yue Changsheng saw the Eldest Young Master’s stupefied face from behind the pearl shutters, and gave a quiet, prideful humph. Holding Jiuxiao Huanpei, he leaned out and leisurely began talking: “I heard you wanted to see me——”

The Eldest Young Master nervously denied it at once: “I don’t want to see you!!”

Yue Changsheng was cut off before he could finish the last half of his words.

The Eldest Young Master wailed: “What did you take me up here for aah!!”

Yue Changsheng couldn’t take this anymore.

He paused, then said: “I heard the Eldest Young Master has never been absent this past year, yet he has never asked to see me, so inevitably I was a little curious…..”

The Eldest Young Master was having an anxiety attack1, so he rambled on: “I’m not any different! Oh no, I, I’m even more vulgar!! Every day I only think about how to get into bed with you!!”

Yue Changsheng: “???”

“Hey, hey you….. You’re so!! You’re really2!!” The Eldest Young Master stomped his feet, gritted his teeth and rushed up, grabbing Yue Changsheng’s collar and forcefully tearing it aside. The brocade broke with a sound, leaving most of his body exposed to the air.

Yue Changsheng’s rationality snapped like a string, and he was stunned.

The Eldest Young Master had never been able to resist beauties, so when he suddenly saw that jade body, his face abruptly flushed red. He hurriedly turned his head and closed his eyes, not daring to look again, and in a panic he carelessly tried covering him back up with the clothes he’d just torn off.

Yue Changsheng was just about to react and get angry, but was then confused by his pure and innocent actions, so he froze.

The collar and shoulders of his clothes had already disintegrated, and would just slip off if he let go, so the Eldest Young Master had no choice but to press the broken cloth on his shoulders to help him hold it in place, only regretting that Yue Changsheng didn’t react to reach out and take it. The two of them stood in an awkward silence, the Eldest Young Master secretly wailed that this kind of stalemate was also not a good thing, so he callously tore of his clothes off once more.

Yue Changsheng had a bit of a breakdown, he really couldn’t keep up with the Eldest Young Master’s brain circuits: What the hell was this man trying to do?!

“Why don’t you get angry? Why don’t you quickly stop me?” The Eldest Young Master lowered his voice and spoke between gnashed teeth, “Don’t you have top-tier gongfu? Quickly throw me into the water!”

“You’re telling me to throw you so I should just throw you? Why should I listen to your orders?” Yue Changsheng was extremely suspicious, and felt that he absolutely must not do what he was telling him to, since there surely was some kind of trap waiting for him.

“…..Ai!!” The Eldest Young Master was anxious and in a desperate situation, and recklessly pulled back his hand, “Forget it! I’ll do it myself!”

After he finished speaking, he ruthlessly slapped his own face so hard he saw stars, and didn’t bother to wipe away his nosebleed as he dashed a few steps and climbed up on the railing facing the water, looking like he was about to jump down. Yue Changsheng was quick to respond, grabbing his wrist: “What are you doing?!”

The Eldest Young Master yelled loudly: “I was wrong! Don’t push me ah!!!” Then slapped Yue Changsheng’s hand away with all his might and plunged into the water head-on.

Yue Changsheng stood dumbly on the spot, just watching as the Eldest Young Master sank under the lotus leaves, with only his limbs remaining on the surface of the water, flailing about and splashing.

“Ah aiya save, save me aaaaaahhh….. aaah save, save gululululu…..”

…..This guy, actually can’t swim???

The indifferent Yue Changsheng with a heart like still water grabbed him by the collar and fished him out of the lake, speaking with an amiable smile: “Are you fucking sick?”

The Eldest Young Master was speechless from choking, crawling on the ground as he coughed repeatedly, his tears and snot overflowing.

Seeing him coughing so hard, Yue Changsheng thought ‘forget it, forget it, don’t argue with an idiot’, and moved closer to him, using some inner breath to pat him on the shoulder and help him breathe better.

Just as his palm fell down, the Eldest Young Master’s shoulders trembled, and he suddenly rolled on the spot to avoid him, lifting his head and looking around everywhere: “Boat! Boat!!”

Seeing that lonely boat he came in on, he held his dripping wet clothes and leapt into it with a vigorous step, using his hands and feet to row away as though he was escaping from something extremely dangerous.

With the people gone and the place empty, the only thing remaining at Langyuan was that spreading wet spot. Yue Changsheng stiffly stood with his hand raised, feeling both the cold wind whoosh by, and a rising feeling of fury.
