Many say that omegas’ heat period was like having the flu; the illness comes like a falling mountain, but would get better after taking medicine. However, the rut periods of alphas were different. They were more like destroying the heart and hurting the soul from excessive drinking. The world would turn upside down when one was drunk, and would have no memory of it after waking up. There would be no law of time during the rut period. No one would know when and where it would come all of a sudden and what kind of results it would bring.
Tu Yan shouldn’t have appeared at Gu Chenbai’s villa that day.
It was also strange to say it. Tu Yan had lived apart from his parents very early on, from six years of high school, and four years of university. He was also always moving around for three years of filming after that.
From marriage to divorce, a total of half a year wasn’t considered a very long time in Tu Yan’s life experience.
However, when he stepped into this villa again that day, he indeed felt like he was cut from the outside world. It was as though he had spent his entire life with Gu Chenbai here; every part of this house made him feel nostalgic. Unfortunately, this feeling was after all only an overflow of emotions. The reality was that, on the afternoon of the previous day, he and Gu chenbai had gone to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get the divorce certificate and became the two most unrelated people.
He entered the yard, stood under the eaves, and hesitated for half a moment before turning the door handle.
He didn’t even know what he was doing here. He tried to come up with some excuses, like leaving something behind, or there was a problem with the water and electricity in the place he was living at now. Yet, as he thought of these excuses, he overthrew them. But he still came over like the gods and demons were at work1.
He thought that Gu Chenbai should not be home at this time, but unfortunately, as soon as he entered the living room, he smelled a strong woody scent coming out of the bedroom like the humid air in the jungle after the rain, enveloping Tu Yan without warning. It entered his nose, luring and leading him to walk in the direction of Gu Chenbai.
Tu Yan regretted it the second he opened the bedroom door.
He saw Gu Chenbai, who was always carrying a gentle smile, smoking quietly on the head of the bed. Across the faint smoke, Tu Yan saw an abnormal flush on Gu Chenbai’s face. His adam’s apple and the corner of his eyes were touched with desire, but he seemed to have given up on the struggle. He looked too calm and only occasionally took a drag of smoke, then looked back out the window in loneliness and hopelessness.
This fragile appearance was one Tu Yan had never seen before.
The pitiful thing about Gu Chenbai was that he loved Tu Yan more than himself.
He could never be as selfish and self-centered as Tu Yan; they got a divorce the day before, and as Tu Yan had missed him today, he even thickened his skin and came to find him.
Gu Chenbai could only pass the rut period by himself.
Tu Yan went up and took the cigarette in Gu Chenbai’s hand.
It was like Gu Chenbai had taken Tu Yan’s intensely effective inhibitor from his hand a long time ago. At the time, Gu Chenbai asked him, “Tu Bao, do you want me?”
Right now, Tu Yan asked, “Gu Chenbai, do you want me?”
“Is this a dream?” Gu Chenbai frowned, his response slow.
Tu Yan began to unbutton his clothes, then crawled into Gu Chenbai’s arms when he was naked. Gu Chenbai held his face and looked at him in a trance, his eyelashes trembling.
Tu Yan nestled in Gu Chenbai’s arms for a few seconds, then sat back up, quietly watching Gu Chenbai’s face. He touched Gu Chenbai’s redding eyes and the tip of his nose with his finger. It seemed like Gu Chenbai wasn’t sure if it was a dream or reality and only kept saying, “Tu Bao, you came back, you came back.”
“I’m sorry.” Tu Yan said softly. He looked at Gu Chenbai’s misted eyes. Knowing that he wouldn’t remember anything when he wakes up the next morning, he hugged Gu Chenbai’s neck tightly, and called out the form of address that he had buried deep in his heart but would never say from his mouth. He called in a quiet voice, “Husband, I was wrong.”
–
Gu Chenbai pulled Tu Yan to his chest. He wiped Tu Yan’s face with the sleeves of his pyjamas as he mumbled, “I’ve dirtied my Tu Bao.”
Tu Yan knew that Gu Chenbai’s mind was clouded right now, he couldn’t help but think: if someone else came today, wouldn’t they also be able to get into bed with Gu Chenbai?
After all, no one would reject Gu Chenbai’s sexual appeal that could lead one to sin.
“I’m not Tu Bao,” Tu Yan said in low spirits.
“You are,” Gu Chenbai said stubbornly, “You are milk flavoured, no one else is sweeter than you.”
He thought that Gu Chenbai was a little clear-headed, but he didn’t have time to think much about it. The pheromones had already broken into every cell in his body; clamouring around and surging wildly, begging for the alpha to enter.
“Don’t you blame me? Gu Chenbai.”
Gu Chenbai looked at him confusedly, “What’s there to blame you for?”
Tu Yan held back his tears and said, “Don’t blame me. I don’t want to divorce you either. You were the one who agreed to sign the divorce agreement. Who asked you to sign it? If you didn’t sign, we wouldn’t have to divorce.”
Their positions reversed; Gu Chenbai pressed onto him, placing his hand on his belly as he coaxed him, “Tu Bao, give me a little rabbit, okay?”
He did many things that Tu Yan didn’t allow him to do before, including entering the place where life could be conceived. Tu Yan fell into a daze for half a minute, then he punched Gu Chenbai’s shoulder angrily.
Following that was basically Tu Yan helping Gu Chenbai wear his pyjamas before he woke up, before sneaking away dejectedly, hiding his meritorious deed and reputation.
However, he didn’t think that all bad things would leave a trace. More than half a month later, the little seedling that Gu Chenbai had buried in his stomach had finally bloomed, unwilling to remain lonely.
