Chen Shiming noticed Chen Jianhong’s expression. “I will continue to let people investigate the matter.”

“No matter the outcome, tell me immediately if there is a problem.” Chen Jianhong closed the document and handed it to Chen Shiming again. “Take the things away and don’t leave it here.”

Chen Shiming’s gaze paused slightly. “Okay.”

The door of the office closed and Chen Shiming left. Chen Jianhong leaned back slightly against his chair, glanced at the documents on the desk and closed his eyes.

Soon, there was a knock on the door.

Jiang Yuze came in to deliver documents. He swept his gaze over Chen Jianhong’s desk and there was deep meaning in his eyes. Then he said, “Chairman Chen, the proposal has come out.”

Chen Jianhong closed his eyes, his tone a bit tired. “You arrange the itinerary. Postpone the video call with G City first and change it to tomorrow.”

“Okay. Are there any other arrangements?” Jiang Yuze asked.

Chen Jianhong asked, “Who is in charge of the investigation of Yicheng’s matter?”

Jiang Yuze paused for a moment before saying, “Originally, Yu Jie was in charge. Then it happened to be the end of the year and the work wasn’t handed over to the new person after he left the company. It has now been handed over to Xiao Jiang.”

“That’s fine.” Chen Jianhong waved his hand after hearing this. “Old Lin and Yicheng have been having a tough fight recently. If he needs help with something over there, help me pay attention.”

Jiang Yuze was slightly stunned when he heard this. It turned out that Chen Jianhong was worried about the Lin family.

He immediately said, “Okay, I’ll let Xiao Jiang pay attention.”

Jiang Yuze put the documents on the table, turned around and left. Once he left the office, Chen Jianhong opened his eyes. His gaze stayed on the door of the office thoughtfully.

Chen Jianhong knew that his eldest son didn’t give up on investigating Yicheng, but Chen Shiming had a lot of work to handle. His main focus was actually on the various problems exposed within the Chen Group. It stood to reason that Chen Shiming’s side had less time and energy to spend on Yicheng. Even so, Chen Shiming’s people still found out about Fang Chengjie…

The incident between Yicheng and the Lin family was more complicated. What was exposed in the industry were basically previous disputes and there were all types of rumors in the outside world. It wasn’t that he had never heard the rumors that Yicheng was angry with the Lin family due to the matter of the spokesperson, but there was no proof regarding this matter. He had been in the industry for many years and had also suffered from rumors. No matter how many rumors there were, his preconception was that he believed in his friends.

Yicheng had conflicts with the Lin family and Chen family so it was reasonable.

However, it was an entirely different matter when Fang Chengjie was exposed.

Besides that, there was one more thing.

He had been asking Jiang Yuze and the other assistants to check Yicheng, which was a special matter. He had indeed received relevant news. However, Chen Shiming’s assistant group could find out about Fang Chengjie. Meanwhile, Jiang Yuze and the others had better abilities but they didn’t give him a single piece of relevant news.

Was the information about Fang Chengjie fake news…

Or was there something wrong with the people under him?

After Jiang Yuze left, Jiang Yuze called Xiao Jiang to the office and explained some things again. “I will hand Yicheng over to you to check. Hand it to me after the investigation.”

Xiao Jiang nodded.

Jiang Yuze’s eyes sank slightly. He suddenly thought of the big trouble recently. He really had to deal with Fang Chengjie’s side. The news shouldn’t be leaked to Chen Jianhong but it wasn’t impossible to handle even if it was… he thought about other plans and suddenly thought of something. “I had you go and watch Chen Shiming’s place. What happened with him and Chen Qizhao?”

“Chen Shiming and Chen Qizhao seemed to have fought in the office. When I went there, Special Assistant Xu was standing next to the door of Chen Shiming’s office and didn’t dare to enter,” Xiao Jiang replied. “I did hear some noises as well. Then when I came here, I got the news… Chen Qizhao skipped work.”

Jiang Yuze smiled incomprehensibly. “Skipping work…?”

By the time Chen Qizhao received the message and came downstairs, it was already past 2 o’clock in the afternoon. He came downstairs and saw Shen Yuhuai standing in the reception area and waiting for him. Shen Yuhuai was wearing a dark trench coat today. He stood in front of a column and the surroundings seemed quiet.

Chen Qizhao didn’t move or call out to him. The reception area of the Chen Building was completely different from the decoration layout of his previous life but looking at Shen Yuhuai now, it seemed to overlap with a certain figure who waited for him downstairs in his previous life.

Shen Yuhuai looked at the Chen Group’s notice on the exhibition board. Then he noticed Chen Qizhao standing not far away and spoke. “You came? My car is parked outside. Let’s go.”

“Yes.” Chen Qizhao’s mind returned and he came over to walk side by side with Shen Yuhuai.

The two of them seemed to have returned to their previous lives. Shen Yuhuai was also like this and the two of them went out to eat after work.

Chen Qizhao couldn’t describe this feeling. It was as if he had walked through most of his life.

The only person waiting behind him was Shen Yuhuai.

After getting into the car, Chen Qizhao fastened his seatbelt and said, “Let’s go to Huang’s Restaurant…”

Shen Yuhuai spoke at the same time as him, “There is a good restaurant nearby.”

The two of them spoke at the same time and shut up at the same time.

Shen Yuhuai laughed. “What a coincidence? I just wanted to say that I would take you to Huang’s Restaurant. I ate there a few times when I was in the city on business and I think the dishes there are pretty good.”

“Yes, I’ve eaten there a few times.”

Chen Qizhao looked sideways slightly. The man driving didn’t squint and his attention was all on the road.

In fact, Shen Yuhuai had often taken him there to eat and the two of them didn’t pay attention to it. Every time they couldn’t think about what to eat, they would go to Huang’s Restaurant in tacit agreement.

After arriving at the restaurant, Chen Qizhao took the initiative to sit down in a corner and Shen Yuhuai went to order food.

He was sitting in a position where he could see the restaurant’s ordering counter.

Perhaps seeing Shen Yuhuai downstairs brought back some memories. Now he looked at Shen Yuhuai and always compared him with Shen Yuhuai in his previous life.

The youthfulness of his face, the difference in height and the voice that seemed clearer than before… as he thought about it, he suddenly saw Shen Yuhuai’s young figure and an incomplete memory inexplicably appeared in his mind.

The background was his home and there was a small desk with a blanket.

There were arithmetic problems on the opened homework and Shen Yuhuai seemed to be sitting next to him, patiently guiding him to do homework.

“What are you thinking?” Shen Yuhuai came back at this time. “You seem to be distracted.”

“No.” Chen Qizhao’s mind returned. Perhaps it was because he had a preconceived impression. He had seen the photos of Shen Yuhuai when he was a child and what came to mind was his imagination. If he played with Shen Yuhuai, it would probably be as he imagined.

There weren’t many people in the restaurant and the food was served quickly.

“I haven’t asked yet. Brother Huai, why were you looking for me?” Chen Qizhao wondered.

“I heard from my family that we have a project cooperation with the Chen family and that you are in charge.” Shen Yuhuai stirred the thick soup. “My sister knows that I have a good relationship with you and had me find time to take you to the technical department to take a look and recognize people in advance. Then it will be convenient for you to bring Feihong’s people over.”

He finished speaking and looked at the time. “It isn’t too late to go after eating. Shall we go?”

“Okay.” Chen Qizhao knew this had to be done. If Feihong could develop then it would be a great help to the Chen family.

It was especially the case when cooperating with the Shen family. The Shen family later occupied most of the market and quickly grew into a leading technology group in China. They even started to independently research chips. In the future, the Shen family’s intelligent products would be all over the market. If Feihong could really cooperate with them, it would be a win-win in a sense.

Shen Yuhuai’s gaze stayed on Chen Qizhao and noticed a slight change in the other person’s expression.

Chen Qizhao didn’t wear a hat today. They sat face to face and could see each other’s faces more clearly. “Are you going to be busy in the next year?”

“Yes.” Then Chen Qizhao asked, “What about Brother Huai? Will you be studying in the next year?”

“There will be the normal defense followed by my thesis.” Shen Yuhuai explained, “My friends in the same group need to prepare the thesis and we will start being busy after March.”

Chen Qizhao casually thought that this meant he wasn’t busy.

This meant it would be easy to ask Shen Yuhuai out for a meal. He thought about the arrangement for this year. There was the project of Feihong, Sheng Ming’s matter, paying attention to Chen Jianhong and Chen Shiming, not messing around… as he was thinking this, his phone suddenly vibrated. Yan Kailin had sent him a message.

[Yan Kailin: Brother, come out for a drink at night! My brother is working overtime today and probably won’t go home!]

[Zhao: No, I have something to do tonight.]

[Yan Kailin: No, I haven’t seen you for a few days. Aren’t you bored at home?]

[Zhao: It isn’t bad.]

[Yan Kailin: Then I’ll go over and play with you. Are you at home?]

Chen Qizhao raised his head slightly when he saw this message. He was about to take a photo of the table with his phone when he noticed Shen Yuhuai’s hand that appeared in the camera. His movements stopped for half a moment and he moved it up slightly. Then Shen Yuhuai appeared in the lens.

The man lowered his eyes slightly and the soup spoon in his hand had just scooped up the thick soup.

He looked up and Chen Qizhao pressed the camera button. The sudden clicking sound made Shen Yuhuai’s eyes fall on Chen Qizhao.

Chen Qizhao calmly took a photo of the desk again and explained, “Yan Kailin asked me what I was doing.”

He casually sent the second photo to Yan Kail. Then he turned off the screen and put the phone back on the table.

Shen Yuhuai smiled and gave a reminder. “The soup is going to become cold.”

Chen Qizhao lowered his head. “Just drink.”

The Shen Group’s technical center wasn’t far from the restaurant where they ate. After eating, Shen Yuhuai drove over and the two of them quickly arrived.

Construction had just started after the new year and the technical center was relatively busy.

Among the technicians coming and going, the person in charge of the technical center happened to be in the R&D center. He heard the news of Shen Yuhuai coming and hurriedly arranged for people to welcome him. “Let Xiao Li go over as a guide. It should just be a preliminary look. If there are any problems then come back and talk to me.”

This person ran quickly after receiving the news while the person in charge continued to communicate with the technician of the R&D center. “The report for this area will be handed in at the end of the month at the latest. Remember to add it to the log. The superiors might come for an inspection.”

He finished speaking and noticed that someone in the crowd was silent, so he asked, “Director Feng?”

Director Feng’s mind returned. “You said that Shen Yuhuai just came? Why is he suddenly interested in our R&D department?”

The other technicians also looked at each other. The current Chairman Shen had a daughter and a son. There was no need to talk about the eldest daughter Shen Xuelan. The whole group admired the ability of this strong young woman. In particular, the annual profits of the Shen Group had been rising under her leadership. They knew Shen Xuelan and that the chairman had an excellent son who wasn’t interested in the company’s business at all. It was said that Chairman Shen and President Shen thought of many methods but he only came to the company twice a year at most.

The person in charge knew what they were thinking. “Hey, don’t worry. Shen Yuhuai didn’t come to our technical department to be parachuted in. Besides, a person engaged in the chemical industry wouldn’t be interested in us. You don’t have to feel too burdened. I will take this opportunity to tell you that our side might be cooperating with Feihong this year. Of course, the news hasn’t officially come down. The Chen Group’s side would also send technicians to come… Today seems to be Chairman Shen’s arrangement to let Shen Yuhuai bring the person in charge of the Chen family to our place for a look.”

The technicians sighed with relief. They thought that something big had happened but it was just a project cooperation.

However, Director Feng frowned slightly after hearing the explanation of the person in charge. “Why cooperate with the Chen Group?”

“Don’t you know?” The person in charge looked at Director Feng. “That’s right, you have just been here for a few years and might not have heard about this. President Shen and the Chen Group’s Eldest Young Master were classmates and the relationship between our Shen Group and the Chen Group is also good. Our side has provided technical support to the Chen Group several times before. In the past, President Chen would come over. It is just that the person in charge is replaced by the Second Young Master this time, which is a bit embarrassing.”

The other technicians asked, “What’s wrong with Second Young Master Chen?”

The person in charge shook his head. “I heard that he isn’t very good.”

Director Feng didn’t speak.
