Chapter 9 – Beware of Pushy Salesmen and Messengers of God
「I’m from the adventurers guild. My name is Rasley.」
「Okay.」
One day, a very suspicious looking man came to us, guided by one of our clerks.
「You are Sawadi Schenker-sama, right? I have heard of you.」
「Okay.」
He’s wearing a white robe, shirt, and thin balding shoes.
Even so, his body seems to be quite clean and at this point, I somehow guessed the identity of this guy.
「There’s a lot of rumor in the city that Sawadi-sama the charitable is rescuing and rehabilitating disabled slaves.」
「Heh.」
Charitable, is it?
「In fact, the Sacred.Solace.of.Indigent, in which I personally belong to, is short of healers. This is a truly tragic situation given that there is a decrease in security due to the decrease of workers. But of course, people’s faith in god won’t waver even with all these challenges.」
「Haa」
A religious guy as expected.
The one with the most authority among the commoners in the city and even my greatest business rival, the Sacred Solace of Indigent.
「I would like to invite Sawadi-sama to participate in the wonderful relief operations of the Sacred Solace of Indigent……」
「Are you asking me for a job request?」
I just casually ask that.
I did not say that I would accept even if it’s a job request.
「My apologies but our relief operation is always poor as it is for the poor….this is very painful to say but isn’t this what charity is all about?」
「That’s truly heartbreaking but I believe in money and that’s my freedom of belief in accordance to the freedom of faith guaranteed by this country….」
It is only an act of suicide to coerce everyone to monotheism in this world where a lot of gods exists.
“Divine Protection” doesn't choose the receiver.
Gods sometimes save people but money always saves people.
Hence, I believe in money.
「Oh! That’s too lonely of a thought! Will money save you? Will money keep you warm? No, sincerity is what will…..」
「I’m sorry but I’m a very busy person so please leave.」
I’ve already given him enough time.
I have no intention of listening to him.
「No, no, no, please wait. In fact this world, god of justice Wekan…..」
「The guest is leaving.」
I have no plan of getting along with them.
In a sense, even beggars have pride but these people don’t have any.
All they have is an unsubstaniable pride in doing good.
「Ah! How rude! I knew you ar…..」
「What’s wrong, young master? Who’s this guy?」
Roast, a fishkin who seems to have eaten behind the scenes, came.
「I thought he was an adventurers guild official but it seems like I was wrong. Please leave.」
「It’s all a misunderstanding! I am…..」
He was saying something but I could no longer hear it since Roast grabbed him by the collar and dragged him away.
「You’re lucky that you chose our house. If you had come in somewhere else, you would have broke a couple of bones. Isn’t our master kind? Don’t ever come back.」
