The lack of oxygen caused the nervousness in her heart to slowly turn into despair. Her body, trapped inside the sack, started to shake uncontrollably. The car took a sharp turn, and the noises around became much smaller. However, the road seemed to be rocky because the car kept bumping.
Song Qingchun was shaken to such a state that she felt like vomiting. Then the car stopped. She heard the door open, and the door she was nearest to also opened as a draft of cold air flooded in. Song Qingchun was dragged out of the car, hoisted over the man’s shoulder, and carried away.
The man moved very fast. Song Qingchun’s head was facing downwards, causing the blood to rush to her brain. It made her feel much more uncomfortable than when she was bouncing inside the car.
Song Qingchun had no clue where the man was taking her. She could hear the sound of metal being opened and closed. Finally, the man seemed to climb up some steps, and she was deposited on the floor.
Her back knocked into something that felt like an iron bar. The pain caused Song Qingchun to suck in a deep breath. Then, she heard a metal door creaking. Following which, she felt like she was being elevated like she was inside an elevator. However, it did not feel like she was inside a normal elevator but more like an industrial elevator, one that was attached to the outside of the building. As the height grew, the louder the sound of wind became, and her body started to shiver from the billowing cold winds.
When the elevator stopped, Song Qingchun could feel the thing that carried them up swaying in the wind like it could be blown away at any moment.
Following a loud ‘boom’, Song Qingchun was hoisted up again. The man started walking but not before kicking the door behind him shut. Then, it was more stairs climbing.
After about five steps, Song Qingchun could hear the wind even clearer. The man who carried her seemed to have tired himself out because he sat down beside her and started to catch his breath in large gulps.
After who knew how long, the man sitting beside her pulled her sack around in a circle. Then she felt some movement at the end of her feet. Before long, a strong buffet of cold wind blasted into the sack.
The man walked to her head. Pulling on the edge of the sack, she was dumped onto the ground.
The sudden blinding light after a long period in the dark forced Song Qingchun to clamp her eyes shut. She lay on the frozen ground for a moment before she opened her eyes to see the thick layer of snow underneath her.
Song Qingchun raised her head to look around her. It then dawned on her that she was on the roof of a tall skyscraper. She could see the other tall buildings around her.
Before Song Qingchun could get an idea of where she was, she was pulled up by her arm. She then turned around to look at her kidnapper. It was a man in his thirties. He looked unkempt, his beard was unshaven, and his long hair covered half of his face. There were dirty smudges on his body like he had not taken a shower in a long time. Even the clothes he was wearing had patches on them.
The man did not seem like he was in a conversational mood. He pulled her along forcefully to the edge of the rooftop.
