Chapter 6: Chapter 4

Another week went by and the changes on my body were clearly visible even to the naked eye. Walking past the envious eyes of the other guys here as well as the hot eyes of the females I slowly went towards the cafeteria. In this week I found out from eavesdropping on various groups that because of my aptitude and cold loner attitude(when did I have that?) that I had received the title of the Cold Knight. 

Although I wouldn't mind conversation I guess I intimidated the rest too much or perhaps my talent let the others feel as if they were in different worlds from me.

In this week of training and meditation my various stats had skyrocketed since I didn't need to spend time reading the various textbooks given to us for free. Now my stats had made a drastic change from when I first obtained this research system

SPR: 15.1] 

Although my Spirit stat was already strong enough, I didn't have any spells to cast using them. The rest of my stats made sure that even if a fight were to happen, I would still have some strength to fight.

It was during this long training that I had finally spotted a test app on the communicator. Each test was about each of the books and the reward for a passing grade was school credits that could be exchanged for various services in the school. 

Since I had scanned every single book, the tests were all quite simple and I quickly passed through all the tests with flying colors. 

There were 10 total basic books given to us and each test gave 5 credits on each test for a total of 50 credits. According to one of the books I had read, 50 credits were enough to obtain 2 decent unrated spells from the schools spell library. But, I would have to wait till we entered the school to truly find out.

It was at this time that I reached out to the side of my bed and pulled out an iron sword. To my surprise, the ship actually had an armory and after asking the sailors nicely they allowed me one of the swords below market price so I was able to practice the sword skills in my breathing method.

With my skills and the body equivalent to that of a healthy adult I finally felt that I had the slightest amount of self protection.

It when I thought that the trip to the academy would always remain so mile that I heard loud thud and a speaker on the ship activate.

"All students are to return to your rooms immediately, a flock of flying monsters is currently attacking the ship and will be dealt with soon. I repeat, all students are to return to your rooms immediately."

I quickly went back into my room and calmed down. Although the situation is scary, only by staying calm can you make rational and clear decisions. I held my sword and stayed in a comfortable and defensive position ready to defend myself should the situation arise. 

After waiting a while, I heard the distinct sound of flapping in the hallway. When I closed my eyes to concentrate on listening, I heard the flying monster slam against a door to the left of mine. Judging from the noise of the thud, our doors seem capable of resisting a few hits without breaking.

Then, I heard what sounded like a flock of birds flying and slamming the walls and doors in the hallway. Then I heard screaming and yelling. One of them most likely broke in and the situation doesn't look good.

I opened my eyes and kept focusing at the door with my sword ready to block at any time. After more fighting I finally heard a slam on my door. 

After a few slams I finally saw the monster that appeared. It looked like a lizard with wings and flapped around quite noisily. I quickly struck at it while it was disoriented from slamming its head on the door. The blade cut a deep wound almost halfway through the creature. It seems like these flying lizards aren't that strong individually. 

After getting cut it seemed to get fearful and made a high pitched screech. I quickly blocked my ears and it died after the screech. After putting my hands down from my ears, there was a sudden dash from the corner of my vision. The screech apparently was to call for allies and I was hit unaware.

Three barged into the room and the first one struck me off my balance as the other two went for a bite. At the critical moment I swung my blade and rolled, leaving a deep cut on the first lizard and diverting the other two dangerous attacks from my neck and calf to my shoulder and thigh. I quickly repositioned myself and struck at one of the remaining two lizards. This time I cut the two lizards in the neck and quickly dashed to the first lizard I cut so I could prevent it from calling more friends.

After confirming that the four lizards had indeed all died and were unable to call more companions I relaxed a little as I watched the door. Then I heard the sounds of heavy footprints go by and a lot of screeching.

After a while the announcements rang throughout the ship again.

"All Students the flying monsters have been neutralized it is safe to leave your rooms now. I repeat. All Students the flying monsters have been neutralized it is safe to leave your rooms now."

I went out of the room and following the map that I remembered before I went towards the infirmary on the ship. As I went by I saw what looked like people wearing suits of armor patrolling the ship. At second glance I noticed the suits were not worn by someone, rather were moving all on its own. After glancing at it I continued going and reached the infirmary. There I saw the suits of armor carrying the people over to the infirmary. Many of them were injured in various ways and I appeared to be one of the least injured. 

An apprentice saw to me and after chanting in syllables I could not understand a light appeared from his finger and flashed on my body. After scanning my whole body, he then went to a counter and picked up a milky white potion. 

"White treatment potion. Drink it and you'll be fine after resting a few minutes."

After I drank the potion a rush of energy rushed over me making me a little tired and causing an itching sensation on my arm. After a few seconds I saw that the bite wound on my thigh slowly fading. After 5 minutes I said my thanks and returned to my room.

After returning a sighed a sigh of relief. Sitting near an infirmary where people were constantly pouring in is quite nerve-racking. I finally was able to rest my mind from all of what happened. After resting for a while I felt a little sleepy so I decided to take a nap for now.
