It was Jay who had asked the question but before Macy could answer, one of their employers answered for her.
"No sir. She is not the CEO but the manager."
Bang!
Suddenly the door opened and closed with a soft bang and all heads except Macy's and her predator turned to see who it was.
"Macy did not need to though, she already knew who it was. Closing her eyes, she released the breath she had been holding in slowly and a small smile appeared on her face.
'Finally.' Macy exclaimed in her mind. Now she was going to be saved from this predator of a man.
"Hello, sorry I am late," Jade apologized without looking at any of them actually. Her brain was still a bit ragged from all her hurrying but after a few breaths, she began to calm down and take in the faces before her.
'What the… Where am I? How come he is here?' For a minute there, several questions started pumping into Jade's head and when her eyes finally landed on the one person she was searching for, Macy, she let out a soft sigh.
Up until now, Macy was blocking her view of Xander as she stood before him, so Jade had still not seen him.
She did not see Sky at the party and only knew Jay which was due to when he came with Xander to save her and to deliver flowers to her house.
Without being told, her instincts told her that that big bully would be somewhere close.
Jay who felt embarrassed from their previous encounter was left speechless when he saw Jade. He had still not recovered from the shock of having to see Macy as the manager of the company he was going to work with when Jade appeared.
He had pretended before as though he was not affected or he did not feel embarrassed after what he did before her that day and talked normally.
But now, after seeing that the duo was complete, he too was confused.
As for Xander who still had his eyes glued on Macy and not giving her the satisfaction to escape from his predatory look, did not bother with whom had walked in.
Rather, his mind was so fixed on scaring the poor Macy that he failed to register the voice that just spoke. At the same time, he failed to see the stare exchange between Jay and Sky because of it.
It was when he spoke that everything came into place in the meeting room.
"I requested to do business with the CEO of the company. Where is your CEO? She either comes or the deal would cease to exist." His voice held all forms of dominance and authority with each word that was spoken.
Hearing those audacious words, Jade felt angered and she decided to talk to the big shark that felt he was boss and could dictate anything he wanted in her company.
Somehow, both of them had completely forgotten each other's voice and only anger remained that they failed to notice.
"I am sorry sir, but she is here already."
At Macy's words, Jay and Sky looked at each other already understanding who the CEO was except Xander who still had nit peeled his gaze from Macy.
Xander arched his brows at Macy questioningly, awaiting her explanation and that was when a smirk appeared upon Macy's face which did not go unnoticed by Xander.
"You wanted to see me?" Jade's calm and collected melodious voice suddenly rang out from behind Macy.
The next minute, Macy took a step back and stood to the side, clearing Xander's view to see the boss of the company.
Slowly, Xander peeled his eyes off Macy and trailed them towards the door to the lady standing at the centre. The moments his eyes landed on her, two pairs of eyes shot wide open with disbelief written all over them.
"YOU!"
Xander and Jade echoed out the same time, turning all attention towards them.
"What are you doing here?" They asked in unison.
"I should be asking you."
"I should ask you."
Macy mentally facepalmed herself. Something told her that they knew each other but never in a thousand lifetimes would she have thought that they would behave like that when they saw each other.
"Is she the CEO?" Sky finally spoke, bringing back their focus to the main topic.
"Yes, she is the CEO."
*****
Following the aftermath of their shock, they finally came to realize that both troublemakers were the heads of their company.
This was a huge shock to Jade's employers who had never seen their CEO and thought that Jade was nothing but the company's assistant financial manager.
Minutes later, their meetings proceeded smoothly and finally, it came to an end.
All through the meeting, Xander barely talked except throwing a few questions to Jade to test her intelligence. Other than that, he spent his entire time fixing his attention on only her and making her feel uncomfortable.
THUD!
The door shut closed and Jade walked into her office in great strides till she reached her working table.
"Ahh!" Jade slummed down on her chair as she felt exhausted from the meeting.
Her hands moved up and covered her face as she took in a deep breath to steady herself and calm down.
She had really worked herself up during the meeting as Xander made her go over things that were clear and easy for a layman to understand, many times.
It was obvious that he was doing so intentionally and that had only made her angry and also make the meeting longer.
She felt like cursing her fate for letting her ever meet this guy. She had now started believing what Arctic had said.
Once was a mistake, twice was a coincidence and the third… That was suspicious. Xander seemed to be everywhere and anywhere important that she went to.
She began to feel as though he was stalking her or something.
Just when she was busy being wrapped up by her thoughts, the door to her office opened up as well and someone stepped in.
