"Eight meters in diameter?" The sound of a fist striking the table was followed by a loud voice screeching within the tent. "Your eyes must have been clouded by the pitch-black darkness that has afflicted this forest," Kanah spoke in a slightly angry voice.

Luna and Jannet were in a luxurious tent. It was Kanah's tent, to be specific. They had used the rest of yesterday to let their bodies rest. It was only when the midday sun broke through the wintry clouds that they decided to seek out Kanah's presence to present Luna's findings.

The side effects that happened to Luna's body due to the body enhancement had largely dissipated. Her body was only sore, and her muscles were plagued by slight soreness. However, on long walks around the outpost, she allowed Jannet to support her worn-out body. She shouldn't act carelessly just because she recovered and her side effects had subsided.

In the tent, everything went as Luna expected. With the outcry, Kanah confirmed that the Beholder, who was up to mischief in the forest, did not correspond to the norm of this world. Now she was unsure if it would be a wise decision to accompany Kanah to Athylia.

"There is magic in the forest, as big and evil as I have never seen," she said with a trembling voice. "It is no wonder your senses have been deceived by an illusion." Luna groaned; she was a vampire and took pride in her night vision. Few creatures could compete with her.

"There is nothing my eyes cannot see through at night," said Luna.

Janet was standing to her right. She had remained calm for most of the conversation. She hadn't changed much since they arrived in this world. Like the first day, they reached the outpost from the fetid Swamp. She could now put some mana into her voice, but she didn't feel confident enough to actively participate in the conversation.

"You're welcome to deny it as many times as you like, but the fact remains that a Beholder of incomprehensible size has taken root in this forest. His vicious presence alone made my hair stand on end and tremble the forest ." Luna heard Jannet groan silently next to her. The conversation had been going in circles for several minutes as Kanah seemed to have trouble accepting the Beholder's size and power.

Even Luna would have trouble believing such a story if she hadn't seen it with her own eyes. As she explained to Jannet, the danger grows exponentially with the Beholder's size. The more focused and farther the light can be thrown from his eye, the more difficult it is to harm it. But even if you get close to the Beholder, you must first overcome the aura that surrounds its greatest treasure. If you don't succeed, you will have positioned yourself as if on display.

Luna was trying to explain to Jannet how dangerous a Beholder could be. Even the smallest of their kind could wreak havoc on a village.

Kanah had stopped jotting down notes with her pen when Luna mentioned its mass. From the reaction alone, Luna concluded that Athylia had no method of repelling or even killing a high-level monster.

"Kanah, I know you're having a hard time believing what I'm saying. I know what I saw in the Orchid Forest. Like a nightmare, it rose above the tops of the trees and looked down at me with an eye that resembled the bright moon. I can't tell you when or if an invasion will hit Athylia; the only thing I know for sure is that nothing can stand in its way." Luna took a breath, deeply concerned by this development.

"Its vision penetrates the forest like an all-consuming fire, banishing even the darkest shadows. His gaze is on Athylia; I don't know why, but his anger increases with every passing moment. Something is still holding him back, but once the chains break, it will head toward Athylia, and the outpost will be overrun by its forces. The only remaining question is; whether Athylia can survive this calamity," Luna said in a mana-piercing voice.

Kanah managed to regain her composure, probably because Luna questioned Athylia's power.

"Naturally, Athylia is prepared. Nothing in this world can breach the walls that the gods themselves erected around us. No devilish creature can succeed even if the wall were to crumble in the face of Bishop Oswyn and the divine force of our Bible" With pride, Kanah added. Her beautiful speech had caused her face to turn scarlet.

Luna wanted to groan again but stifled it. She was tired of hearing Kanah praise Athylia. Despite everything, she had a keen interest in the walls.

Luna was jolted out of her thoughts by the tap on her shoulder. She glanced sideways only to see Jannet stretching her finger in Kanah's direction. Luna was lost in thought for a moment and completely forgot about Kanah's speech.

"How about you convince yourself of Athylia's steadfastness? To this day, songs are sung at the time of the full moon," Kanah said in a soft but elegant voice. Her eyes shone with passion. "When Athylia was brought into this world by the hands of the gods, we were given a special task to eliminate the evil that pollutes this world. To this day, the river that flows around Our City reflects the divine light of the moon on the King's Castle, reminding us of our oath.

Kanah began to tell of her kingdom and its great deeds. Luna and Jannet looked at each other several times.

"Wartime tales describe the wall's steadfastness, like a lonely mountain that can only be circumvented; they have stood there since the beginning of our history." Luna bit her lower lip. It was difficult for her to keep her composure in the face of such praise. Unfortunately, she was in no position to argue against it. She smiled weakly and followed Jannet's example. Not that Kanah even knew how Luna felt about her.

"Nobody would be left to protect this world from the powers of evil if our kingdom were to fall," the Kanah said. It took some time before she was able to speak seriously again.

"What would you suggest we do now?" Luna began again. She didn't want to ignite the spark of inspiration and listen to an hour-long prayer about Athylia. "You not only deal with a Beholder, a beast that seems to come from an evil god, but also the monsters that come from the Orchid Swamp. Now that they are getting infected, things could get worse."

"We will meet them with everything our kingdom possesses and send them back to the hell they crawled out of," she said before continuing. "They will bounce off our walls. Their spears will be smashed by the brickwork, and our unrelenting strength will crush their spirit of resistance. " Said Kanah. She clasped her hands together as if she knew without a doubt that the army of evil would be crushed like a cockroach.

Luna had already given up trying to reason through Kanah's thick skull. She may have been a good field commander but was blinded by her Athenian pride.

Luna couldn't understand Kanah's pride, but she knew she couldn't get her off of it. She was tired of speaking up. She had considered asking if there were countermeasures should the army be infiltrated to destroy the wall from the inside but decided against it as Kanah would likely see it as an insult.

"Unfortunately, I haven't come across any proof that the armies of monsters will assault anytime soon. Additionally, I haven't discovered any proof that somebody is controlling the monsters, either." Luna said. She reported to Kanah as if she was working for her. To a certain extent, she already did. She didn't complain, though, as she and Jannet got a roof over their heads. It was something Jannet needed after the mental stress they went through.

"Too bad, for now, we're going to assume the Beholder controls everything. Thank you for your support." With a handwave, she dismissed both of them.

As per Luna's knowledge, Kanah would first write an urgent report to her superiors and await further instructions. She just hoped that the answer would come back as soon as possible. In the meantime, Luna and Jannet left the tent. They had nothing to do, so Luna decided to help Jannet train. She was still a beginner, which Luna could tell from the mana tremor in her voice.

"I'm surprised how relaxed and friendly you can talk to Kanah; I would have lost my composure at how stubborn she was," whispered Jannet.

Luna shook her head and said, "I'm also being pushed to my limits. Unfortunately, such obsessed people cannot be reasoned with."

"I saw that," Jannet replied. "It might be a good thing I stayed out of the conversation."

Luna ruffled Jannet's hair, "If I knew my way around this world, I could probably object, but most of the time it's best to keep your mouth shut."

"Do you have any idea why the temperature dropped so suddenly? We've been here for almost a week, and the weather has suddenly changed." Jannet asked sudently. Luna held up her hand. Indeed, the fresh autumn wind had suddenly turned into frosty weather.

"I think mana is responsible for this, but you should probably turn to Kanah for questions like that. Just please don't become like her and believe everything you hear." Jannet laughed out loud. "I'm serious; if you turn out like her, I'll cut off my ears so I don't have to hear your nonsense," Luna said in a worried tone.

"I love you too," Jannet replied, hugging her with a huge smile. It felt comfortable being embraced by someone. She could get used to the warm feeling.

Eventually, they reached the training ground, and Jannet helped Luna sit down on a log.

"So when you talked about the training ground, I had imagined something ... else."

"And? It has everything you need."

"For me, a large area of grass is not all that is needed. Where are the training dolls?" asked Luna. "I think you're exaggerating a little; I can't even use magic, so why bring me to knock down a doll?" Luna grimaced, but somehow it escaped her.

"Boxing can help relieve stress," she said with a grin on her cheeks, watching as Jannet picked up the field's plate. "I forgot it here yesterday."

"How did you forget? I am sure, Kanah wouldn't have given you a second one if you'd lost the paper.

"I'm sorry; I was so concerned about you yesterday that I somehow forgot that the item was still on the lawn."

"What am I going to do with you?" Luna said, shaking her head.

"Could you show me how to do it right? No matter how hard I try, it just won't change color."

Luna tilted her head and held out her hand. She took the paper and nearly dropped it. "Wow, it's a lot heavier than I thought."

"Hihi, I thought so too," Jannet replied with a big grin.

"I'm glad you're having fun." She had never had such a device in her hand before. It looked no different than a small piece of paper that could have come from a paperback. Luna let her mana flow. It flowed into the piece like a stream of water. In a few seconds, it changed color from white to dark red and fell from her hand.

Jannet's eyes widened, and her mouth dropped open as the paper hit the ground like a cannonball. It only fell a meter and buried itself in the ground with a deep ringing sound.

"What the... How heavy did that thing get?" Jannet rushed to the impact point and tried to lift the paper out of the hole with both hands. Luna could have sworn her face was turning blue.

"Not a chance," she groaned. "It has become far too difficult. How exactly did you do it?" she asked curiously.

"Maybe the idea of letting your inner energy flow like the water in a river will help you. You should train your mind to be flexible because your energy adapts to your understanding and ideas. Because water is flexible and can take any shape, it is a perfect visualization." Jannet nodded in understanding. She looked at the paper, which had turned white again. She picked it up with both hands and sat down next to Luna.

Luna watched as Jannet closed her eyes. Minutes passed before a shimmer finally appeared on the paper. It was easy to miss, but Jannet must have noticed the change in weight because moments later, she opened her eyes and catapulted the mana detector forward.

Luna widened her eyes. Jannet suddenly turned to her side and jumped into her arms like a small child. It seemed to be a new ritual for her because shortly afterward, they both lay on the floor laughing. So they felt it keenly when the earth began to tremble under tremendous pressure.

Instinctively, they both looked at the wall as a red light was shot into the sky. They knew what that meant.

With Luna in tow, it took them longer to reach the wall. Kanah and a large crowd of knights had already gathered at the stonework and were looking into the distance. She gave orders in a loud voice, and knights ran from the meeting place in all directions of the camp.

In the distance, Luna saw the disaster. Like a solar eclipse, it slowly moved in their direction.

"This doesn't look good," whispered Luna. "Nothing and nobody in the camp can fight a monster size." She had her arm around Jannet's shoulders. Through her skin, she felt the trembling body. Each new mana pulse seemed to shake the landscape.

"Calm down," Luna said in a calm voice. She hugged Jannet's body, which seemed frozen by fear, and stroked her back with her hand. "It looks like Kanah is already making preparations; we won't be here much longer." Luna noticed how Jannet trembled every time a new mana wave passed by.

The Beholder seemed very slow and didn't get significantly larger on the horizon. But the eye shone beneath the gray clouds like the full moon in the night sky.

"Luna Jannet, go to the northern part of the outpost and wait by the horses; as soon as we're done cleaning up or the monster hordes get too close, we'll get out of the dust." With a serious expression, Kanah turned away to retreat to coordinate.

Luna and Jannet watched as the horses were loaded with bags. The chariot was pulled by a small number of horses.

As Luna had guessed, the tents were stowed away using space magic. Unfortunately, she had no idea how the runes worked. It didn't take long for the former outpost and all its tents to disappear in the horses' luggage. Luna just nodded. It was fantastic how coordinated the Knights were. After less than 10 minutes, all tents and objects were stowed away.

Luna and Jannet had sat on one of the chariots at Kanah's command.

The chariot rocked as they rolled across the path. The car had sufficient suspension. Luna observed how the constant swaying of the car made Jannet's eyes weary. So she allowed Jannet to make herself comfortable on her thigh. They had no idea how long it would take to get to Athylia, but she hoped not too much time was wasted. She wanted enough time to see the walls for herself before the monster invasion arrived. Her fingers ran through Jannet's hair. The even breathing told Luna that Jannet had fallen asleep.

Jannet was mentally and physically exhausted. She had never circulated mana through her body, so it came as no surprise that she was sleeping peacefully. All that remained now was to hope that Athylia's masonry was strong enough to withstand these attacks.
