Chapter 2: Prologue 2

As we walk into the main building of the shrine and found more strong individuals from both the onmyoji and youkai sides alike. There is an onmyoji clan from nearby areas like the Keikain, the Shihoin, and the Seichuiin are also present here helping to clean out Ayakashi from Kyoto.

The only human base onmyoji clan that does not show up is the usual 5 principle clan. Because apparently according to them the youkai are not part of the Shinto faction and they ban the use of shikigami in their jutsu for gods know the reason also anything that doesn't have to do with the 5 sacred beasts and the kami is pretty much a heresy for them.

What the hell is wrong with them? Is this why the Ashiya which has an ancient reputation for being evil pretty gets more tolerance than the 5 principle clan? You can see the Ashiya people by looking for those who wear black suits like yakuza. As they all divide into a strike team to take down an Ayakashi remnant around the city.

As for the rest of the onmyoji that present either wearing a typical pure white onmyoji uniform or a normal kimono like me and my father to blend in with the youkai. It's hard to get friendly fire with the onmyojutsu anyway.

Oh, the tengu guard of Ura-Kyoto is here too I guess the Miko of Amaterasu must present too then. I look around more to see any high-ranking youkai. Ah, the one on the roof is Tsuchigumo of the Nura clan. Talk about the Tsuchigumo the Tsuchimikado did have an artificial one used for war as a shikigami they are called imperial shikigami if I remember correctly.

And I see a bunch of machines that look like a giant spider out at the park not far from here. Yep, that's our proud artificial tsuchigumo the war machine of Tsuchimikado create during the Yakou era.

" Look Ayaka there's a lot of tsuchigumo here! I guess the battle here must be more serious than the outbreak in Tokyo. Also the Ashiya artificial Oni too. " My father pointed out at the humanoid robot that standing near our spider robot.

" Is creating artificial shikigami these days required an engineering degree more than a magical knowledge one? I mean look at all the artificial shikigami here." I wonder.

" No, Ayaka it requires both the magic of science is need to make these things just like our flying transport shikigami. " He answers. And I digress all artificial shikigami are half machines after all.

And then we entered the main building as we walk through the corridor the sound of heat debate started to be noticeable to us as we were about to reach the meeting room.

" We need more reinforcement at the east to take back Arashiyama, Yasaka-hime! We can't let Tenryu-Ji temple fall under Ayakashi's force any longer! And Nijou castle has been clear for a while now there is no reason to stand the half of the main force over it!" The man's voice demanded.

" By the kami lord Keikain the Yomi's gate still present even now we can't risk another army bleach out of it when we look away! Not only this the leyline under it is very damaged and corrupted with Yomi's presence I can't heal it now even with Amaterasu-sama's help!" The female voice answered.

" The south just got the sight of Ayakashi remnant there are several general grades present in the area and they too demanded the reinforcement! " Another report came in.

Then the heated debate continued with more interrupt from the reported scout unit.

I look at my father who smiles wryly at this situation. " This is worse than we thought isn't it Dad? " I said recalling the event in Tokyo 3 years ago.

" Yep almost reminded me of the old clan war 20 years ago with us and Ashiya still going at it. " He said while scratching his chin answering me.

"Knock Knock!"

We waiting for permission to enter the meeting. " Just come in! It's not like things can get any worse. " The voice of the young man said in annoyance.

Then we both enter and see the hologram map of Kyoto that display the situation on the battlefield in real-time by using the flying type imperial shikigami from the Tsuchimikado.

I see a lot of red zones present the southward and the west in the area of Arashiyama then yellow in the middle at Nijo castle the north has been cleared out and displayed in blue and here in the east at Yasaka shrine displayed in green.

(So we still losing half of the city. Oh boy this trip gonna take a week isn't it?) I mull over it by myself.

Then I turn my attention to the people in the room. " So you came, uncle Yuuki! Finally, we can send someone to deal with the general grade in the south while the rest can focus on taking the east back!"

A young man in his 20 with blonde hair wearing an eyepatch on the right eye dressing in his iconic military-style raven's coat greets my father with a smile. He is Tsuchimikado Harutora my cousin and true heir and leader of the Tsuchimikado clan.

" Long time no see Harutora-kun how's everyone? Where's father your grandpa? " He greeted him with a soft smile.

"Grandfather got injured early in the war with Hagoromo gitsune's uncle, so I'm the one in command of our force. I already sent out Kakugyouki to maintain our frontline at the east and Hokuto stay at Nijo castle until the Yomi's gate is gone. " He explained to my father with a tired voice.

" We still losing half of the city... This is worse than I thought. " He said looking at the hologram in the center of the room.

" Yuuki-dono long time no see, ...Amaterasu-sama said that she can only hold the leyline for us to not let it more corrupted from the Yomi's essence, So we cannot expect more help from Takamagahara as they decide that this is a mortal affair, not them..." A blonde Kyubi woman said with a somber voice.

She is Yasaka the Miko of Amaterasu that has a duty of maintaining the leyline of Kyoto and also acts as the leader of the Kyoto youkai she wears a gold luxurious kimono while pup out smokes from a pipe.

" Alright, I got the overall situation where do you need help the most to let us gain more ground in this war? I will go there." Dad said with a determined voice.

" I totally would love to go with you old man, but I need to stay and contain Hagoromo gitsune because everyone here still seems to be wary of her even if she weakens and did not have a will to fight anymore. " Another young man that let us in speak to dad with a bored tone.

He has long white hair that floats up on its own and a pair of sharp black eyes. He wearing a black kimono and a red jacket like Nura Rihon his grandfather because this young man is the 3rd supreme commander of the Nura clan Nura Rikuo. He sits near the window while hugging his tachi with clear annoyance present on his face.

" You must be Rikuo the new supreme commander, Anyway Rihon-Oldman said that he said he will be here where did he go? Did you send him to deal with more Ayakashi? " Dad questions him.

" Nope, he went to talk to Hogoromo. Kami knows why..., but is that your daughter? She smells like a kitsune over there. " He points at white hair kitsune shikigami that stands behind Harutora. She is Hishamaru the legendary shikigami of our clan.

"" !? "" and others in the room start to look at me curiously. " Hmm... Did you cheat on Yuuka-dono!? Yuuki-dono...? " Yasaka looks at my father with a stern expression.

" What!? Nono! I would never! Also, this is my and Yuuka's son, Ayaka he has a mutate trait let the night come and you'll understand why you detect Hishamaru-sama's scent on him. " Dad denied at the light speed.

But some people in the room just silently stare at me while muttering. " That's a boy? Guess 90% of the mother gene go to him... "

" Good afternoon everyone my name is Amatsuki Ayaka. I'll be in your care for a while. " I introduce myself then bow at them a bit.

" Hmm～ Why did you bring him with you Yuuki-dono? this place is dangerous right now or are you gonna teach him on field lesson? " Yasaka asks him with a concerned tone.

" Don't worry about that Yasaka-sama, His onmyojutsu is decent enough to take care of himself and he is better in sword than me you know? Also, I did take him to Tokyo to hunt a rogue and Ayakashi before don't worry too much." Dad proudly said all this to them.

" Well that's good then we need more personnel anyway, so Yuuki-dono you can go unpack your baggage in the room we prepare for you. " She then signals the little Kyubi that looks like a mini version of her to come here.

" This is Kunou my daughter she will guide you to your room after that we'll meet again at the dining hall. We have more to discuss this war and we need your insights. Kunou take care of them alright? " She then talks to her daughter with a gentle voice.

" Got it Okaa-sama! " She said energetically then run to us. " Please follow me! " we then walk out in hurry to follow the little furball that goes ahead of us.

We follow Kunou to the room that is as big as our house bedroom I and dad share a room then we decide to unpack our thing with dad and set up a desk for a makeship workshop for creating more talismans and charms for this trip.

While I set up the ward for our room in case of emergency while Kunou stared at us with a bored expression. " Unn... " her tail drops down like a sad puppy. So I guess I have to do something about it I already finish set up the kekkai/ward anyway.

" Kunou-chan right? " I decide to talk to her while don't know how to handle it properly. " Yes! what do you need? Ayaka-san? " She turns to me in flash. " Well, I wanna know what it usually likes here when things are normal. "

She perks up and answers enthusiastically. " There's a lot of beautiful light and delicious snacks everywhere! And the uncle and aunty give me a lot, but oka-sama is always too busy with her job she can't go out with me much anymore... Now, this happens suddenly black-hair onee-san comes and ruins everything! " She talks a lot huh...

I don't know how to handle this properly... Well, Jesus takes the wheel! " Hmm～ Maybe after this is over can you show me around Kunou-chan? I had never been to Ura-Kyoto before or even Kyoto proper. " I ask her.

So he talks to her " Kunou-hime you're the same age as Ayaka here!?" She answers in flash " Yes I'm the same age as Ayaaya here! " She shook my hand enthusiastically. It's very adorable sad I'm here for war guess I need to use my real power a bit more now the Ayakashi needs to go for this girl's happiness.

" Alright, then Ayaka. " Dad changed to a serious tone suddenly. " Hmm? " I tilt my head at him.

" Did you ever consider finding a shikigami like your cousin? I think it's time for you now that we're here in Ura-Kyoto. " He said in seriousness.

" Sure why not? But only if the other party's demands are not a blood fraud alright I'm not gonna mess with those again I have my fill after you take me to Tokyo after the outbreak. " I recalled hunting a lot of the Tsuchimikado's cultist faction in Tokyo.

" Ahh, do not worry there's plenty of youkai here right now that's from a Nura clan maybe you can find someone to contact you after the war. " He said while thinking about something.

Then Kunou taps my shoulder. " Nee Ayaaya! make a contact with me! " She said with a light shining in her eyes. " Err... only if you get permission from Yasaka-san your mother Kunou also we just know each other for like 20 minutes. " I tell her sternly.

" Muu... fine～ I'll talk to oka-sama! " her tail went from dropping like a wet puppy to swinging around like a husky. " Ayaaya, you really smell like Hisha-nee-sama's I like it! " she sniff me while her tail swung happily.

(She feels like a corgi than a kitsune, to be honest here...) I smile at her wryly while thinking that. I mean can you blame me?

" Ahem, Kunou-hime you should get to know Ayaka a bit more before deciding to become someone shikigami alright? It's a very important matter for a youkai to become an onmyoji partner for life you should consult others and your mother more." Dad said to her patiently.

" Unun～, I will～ Yuuki-jiichan I think I'll follow Ayaaya from now on! You both still stay in the city for a while right? Then I'll use that time to know Ayaaya more! " She nodded then smiled brightly.

" Well, Ayaka you're not going to the frontline now if that happens. I'll talk to Yasaka-hime if she can let her daughter go with you with a tengu guard because they don't trust or know your ability to fight like me." He said with a wry smile on his face.

" Give me 3 days Dad I'll go clear out the east since from the report there's only a brigade worth of lieutenant grade Ayakashi and a captain at worse there I can handle it. You can help them take down the general in the south." I suggest it to my father.

" Don't use kami ability alright I don't mind the sorcery, but I don't want the problem with Takamagahara. Also, you should be active more in your youkai form, so they won't question your prowess too much." Dad suggests a solution to me.

" Got it I will, so they can wrap my power up as they did with Rikuo case and also my mutation. " I answer him.

" Hmm? " Kunou tilts her head at our conversation. " You'll see it soon Kunou for now just wait. " I said as I start patting her head. (Very soft never know I need this mofumofu energy in my life! I think I get now why mom bothers me in my kitsune form all the time.) I recalled as I mesmerize myself with Kunou's fluffy head.

" Hnn～ " She also likes it as she lets me play with her head more while she looks melting at the touch.

" Ahem, Ayaka,Kunou-hime I'm done let go to your mother. " Dad denied me my fluffy heaven. And I look at him with horror. " Stop with the look Ayaka... You gonna get more time with her, alright I'll talk to Yasaka-hime about it. " Then my happiness return.

" Thank you, dad, You're the best. " I smile at him. and he just shakes his head in response.

After that, we follow Kunou to the dining hall it's almost 5 pm now, so the hall is somewhat full of people the youkai and onmyoji alike. We went and sit at the innermost table with the clan heads and other important staff.

" Oi! Over here, Yuuki-jii-san, Ayaka-kun, Kunou-hime. " Rikuo human form greeted us instead. His human form is shorter than his youkai around 10 cm and also needs a glass to see properly too. He has short light-brown hair with light-brown eyes like his hair, but it gives more gentleness feeling than a sharpness.

Why do I know that? The Internet exists people. sure it's 2013, but for the supernatural side, it's like your respective present timeline. So they are famous people's pictures everywhere.

" So this is your off-work mode Rikuo-kun. " Dad greets him back. " Evening Rikuo-san. " I greet him casually. " Good evening Riku-nii! " Kunou greets him energetically. Then we sit at the table waiting for the meal to serve and also for other people cause right now there's only the Nura clan and a minor onmyoji clan head present.

" Yes, My youkai personality sometimes gets me into more trouble than it should. Ahaha. " He laughs nervously. " I can see that my son also has the same problem, but yours is probably better off than Ayaka. " Dad said with an awkward smile.

" Dad... " I shook my head at him. " Is the kitsune side made him more mischievous or something Yuuki-jii-san? Or is it like mine become super prideful and brunt?" He asks curiously.

" Ahaha～ You'll see when the sun goes down Rikuo-kun. I'm sure a lot of people will be surprised." He said to them teasingly. Then I start to talk with them about everyday topics. Rikuo is a surprisingly chill guy and nice to be friends with. But then Kunou pulls my cloth to get my attention, so I talk to her and start patting her head to get my daily mofumofu now that I taste it.

Then a lot of people start to arrive like Harutora, the Keikaiin head, the Shihoin head, the Seichuin, and Yasaka. And they start to talk about the situation until the foods arrive while I'm still getting my dose from Kunou's fluff.
(I think I may be addicted to this!? This is bad looks like I'm gonna teleport to visit her a lot in the future.)

After that, the food arrives, so we start eating in silence while I think of the best way to overcome my new addiction to fluff. (This is my fate now so be it.) I accept the addiction like a junky.

Then after the meal, we agree to gather up again in the yard near the teleport relay, the sun is setting, and now my appearance starting to change so I excuse myself after telling dad and retreated to the room and then get a change of cloth.
