It was already so late, and yet they were so loud.
If Yu Xuan wasn’t there, He Chen felt that she should have arrived a day later.
She took a look at her watch. It was already seven. Wanting to cut the conversation short, she replied, “That’s right.”
“Alright, I’ll have to check on some stuff with you.” Hao Dui sighed and replied after thinking for a while.
He Chen nodded as she thought about what happened to He Mianxin. She left with Hao Dui without speaking to Father He.
After the two of them left.
In the interrogation room, Father He was facing Yu Xuan and the gang.
They didn’t know what was going on.
Why wasn’t He Chen in the same room as them?
Not only was she not with them, but the captain also seemed to know her…
It was obvious that Hao Dui spoke differently when he spoke to He Chen as compared to when he spoke to Father Yu.
As the four of them thought to themselves, the door to the room was opened. Two plain-clothes officers came in. They were the ones who brought them back from the hospital. They said, “Follow us.”
“Xiao Xuan, what…” Mother He asked as she looked toward Yu Xuan.
Yu Xuan and He Jinxin’s secretary looked at each other and understood what was going on. It must be because of He Chen.
They tried to hide their shock. Yu Xuan turned to console Mother He. “It’s nothing, mom. Let’s follow them.”
He Jinxin’s secretary noticed that they were being led to the exit and asked, “Officer, where are you taking us?”
The officer replied nonchalantly as he continued to lead them, “You can all go home now.”
They knew what he meant.
It was already time to knock off work. Hence, there wasn’t anyone in the corridor.
The secretary noticed that the officer didn’t seem keen on answering her question and kept silent.
Father He looked around for He Chen. But as they were approaching the exit, he couldn’t find her and asked, “Officer, what about my daughter? Is she coming home with us?”
His words stopped the officer in his tracks as he asked, “Your daughter?”
“Yes, He Chen, the lady just now,” Father He replied as he looked towards the interrogation room.
After he spoke, he realized that the officer was just staring at him. It gave him the chills.
Just as he was about to ask, the officer answered excitedly, “So, you’re Miss He’s father? Nice to meet you, Mister He. Miss He is still speaking with Hao Dui right now. Do you want to head to our lounge to wait for her?”
Father He was confused.
“What unnecessary conflict. If you had mentioned that you were Miss He’s father, you wouldn’t face such troubles. Has Miss He mentioned about me before? She praised me for being smart the last time she was here.” The officer recounted excitedly.
He Chen just wanted to get her family out of trouble. Hence, the officer had thought that she was here for official business.
But he couldn’t imagine that she was here for her family.
No wonder she was here in person at this hour.
The officer sent Father He and the gang out of the station and continued to chat with them.
When He Chen and Hao Dui came out, the officer was chatting with them about his latest smartphone.
But he silenced himself the moment he saw He Chen and Hao Dui walking out from the station and greeted them respectfully.
He Chen nodded and said, “Hao Dui, you should head back first.”
Everyone could feel how prideful Hao Dui was.
He had cultivated a strong aura after mixing with Cheng Juan and Qin Ran for so long. Hence, even Father Yu was overwhelmed by him.
However, He Chen wasn’t affected at all.
Even though they were close to her, Father He and the gang didn’t dare to say anything.
Hao Dui didn’t know what to do as he held up his walkie-talkie. This matter was going to involve many parties.
Since He Chen was involved, Qin Ran and Chang Ning would involve themselves as well.
And if Qin Ran was involved, there was no way that Cheng Juan would leave her alone.
Everything was connected.
How could someone have the audacity to mess with He Chen?
Have they forgotten how the Qin and Chen families messed up the capital last year?
“I’ll contact you when there’s an update,” Hao Dui said as he nodded at He Chen. He then swiftly left the scene.
She looked at Hao Dui as he left.
Then, He Chen looked at Yu Xuan and He Jinxin’s secretary and said, “It’s almost time. Let’s go look for my sister.
“Mom, you should stay with Grandma at the hospital. Don’t worry about Sister.”
Mother He nodded and breathed a sigh of relief. She wasn’t aware of the situation in the capital, but she understood what Father Yu said. “They told us that we wouldn’t be released for at least two weeks. How did you…”
He Chen nonchalantly answered, “I’ve worked with Hao Dui a number of times previously. It’s not a big matter.”
Mother He couldn’t find anything wrong with what she said. He Chen was a reporter, after all.
They would have never thought that He Chen’s work wasn’t a simple collaboration. She was referring to how she helped Hao Dui capture international criminals.
Now that everything was settled, they were back to being concerned with He Jinxin. Yu Xuan took his phone and announced, “I’ll get someone to fetch us over.”
The four of them were brought here in the police car.
“It’s alright,” He Chen said as she took out her car keys and walked towards the car park. “I have one here.”
Yu Xuan and He Jinxin’s secretary followed.
Yu Xuan would have doubted her if He Chen told him that she could bring him to He Jinxin. But after what happened, he believed every word she said.
“You drove the He family’s car?” The secretary asked.
The car that He Jinxin bought for He Chen was still in the shop. The license plate wasn’t ready yet.
“It belongs to a friend of mine.” The car wasn’t parked far away. He Chen pressed a button on the key and the doors opened.
This car was an SUV bought by Giant Crocodile.
His gifts were always impressive.
Everyone could tell that this car cost a bomb.
Both the secretary and Yu Xuan were shocked. How did He Chen have such a rich friend?
Was the friend from the Qu family?
In half an hour, He Chen was at the base.
From afar, they could see soldiers guarding the place.
As He Jinxin was a prime suspect, she was under strict supervision.
He Chen drove towards the gate. As she showed no signs of slowing down, the secretary reminded her. “Second Lady, slow down, we have to go through an inspection before entering.”
In order for you to enter such bases, you would have to go through extensive inspections.
However, He Chen didn’t slow down.
The secretary wasn’t worried as he trusted her.
However…
Fifty meters.
Forty meters.
Thirty meters.
He Chen wasn’t slowing down at all!
The secretary was shocked and screamed. “Second Lady, we must stop now, else we will be shot!”
Twenty meters.
The gates were opened.
Ten meters.
The guards stood at attention and saluted at the vehicle.
He Chen entered the base without even slowing down.
Both the secretary and Yu Xuan looked at the rearview mirror.
They understood that He Jinxin had a great relationship with her sister. But they didn’t meet up often, so Yu Xuan didn’t interact much with her.
Yu Xuan didn’t know much about He Chen and heard most of what he knew from He Jinxin.
He was shocked by what happened.
She didn’t have to go through the inspection?
She was saluted?
The car stopped in front of the building in the base.
He Chen turned off the engine and got out of the car.
Yu Xuan and the secretary got down as well. Then, they saw the car plate number.
[PhysicsA01111]
Physics meant the physics research institute. A0 meant that she was from the internal security department. 1111 at the end meant that she had special rights.
No wonder she didn’t need any inspection.

They had thought that this car had cost a lot.
But compared to this car plate number…
Even a Lamborghini was nothing.
He Chen was on a call a distance away. Yu Xuan and the secretary exchanged glances, then the secretary spoke softly. “Her sister could get this? What kind of friends does she have?”
He then continued, “I believe… He Jinxin might get out this time…”
If you were locked up in a base, there was a very low chance that you would be released.
That was one of the reasons why Father Yu wanted to maintain his distance from the He family.
Even though Yu Xuan wanted to help, he knew that there wasn’t much hope.
But now…
Yu Xuan was hopeful.
…
In the detention center of the base.
He Jinxin was inside. There was nothing in the room except for a metal door.
Suddenly, the door was opened and He Chen entered.
He Jinxin thought that she was hallucinating and froze. Then, she stood up after realizing that it wasn’t an illusion.
“Jinxin!” Yu Xuan said as he walked in. He carefully examined her before breathing a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness that you’re fine.”
He Jinxin took a look at He Chen and asked, “How did you guys get here?”
Suddenly, her smile froze, and she asked, “Were you captured as well?”
“No, but we don’t get along. Let’s cut straight to the point,” He Chen said as she sat opposite her. “Tell us what’s going on.”
Yu Xuan stood next to He Jinxin, holding her hands.
He Jinxin replied, “It’s nothing.”
She decided not to involve anyone.
The door opened again.
An officer entered with a can of beer for He Chen. “Miss He, Miss Qin asked you to calm down.”
“Thank you,” He Chen said as she opened up and sipped the beer. She then looked at He Jinxin and continued, “If you don’t wish me to help you escape, you can remain silent.”
He Jinxin understood what was going on.
She suddenly found that she couldn’t recognize the sister she knew her whole life.
Yu Xuan continued, “Jinxin, tell her. She got us out of lock-up just now.”
The secretary agreed.
“It’s about Grandpa,” He Jinxin said. “I’ve checked everywhere and found that he was heading out of the capital city with the Qin family. I didn’t believe that he would betray his mission. Since I’ve accessed the encrypted data, it is indeed difficult to resolve the issue.”
“Is there no other way?” The secretary frowned and asked.
He Jinxin thought a while before answering, “There’s still a chance. 129 has a huge database. If we can dig out some evidence, Grandpa’s case could be overturned.”
“Alright,” Yu Xuan answered as he made a mental note.
“129? How sure are you that they would have the evidence?” He Chen frowned.
“I’m sure,” the secretary answered. “Second Lady, 129 has the largest database in the whole world. But only insiders would know. Let me explain to you later.”
He Chen kept silent as she knew the most about 129.
She had searched about her grandpa before.
Looks like she would have to rely on Qin Ran and Cheng Juan. Qin Xiuchen would know about what happened to Old Master Qin.
…
The next day.
He Chen was done going through the data. She was going to visit Grandma He at the hospital before heading to discuss with Feng Loucheng.
There was only Mother He in the hospital.
“Where’s Dad?” He Chen asked.
Mother He replied as she poured her a drink, “He’s out to get some fruits.”
He Chen leaned towards the bed. She took a bite of the apple and said, “Mom, are you lying to me?”
Mother He turned around before replying, “They have gone to look for the Qu family.”
He Chen froze.
She frowned and scolded. “Why are they looking for them? You guys are so troublesome!”
She got out and called Yu Xuan. “Where are you guys?”
Yu Xuan’s voice was low, and it sounded like he had just woken up. “Why are you calling me…”
“Where are you?” He Chen repeated her question as she waited for the elevator.
…
Twenty minutes later.
He Chen arrived at the Qu family.
She got out of the car and walked straight towards it.
Everyone in the Qu family loved He Chen, except for Qu Zixiao. They opened the door as they saw her approach.
In the living room, Qu Zixiao was calling Song Qingqing.
Song Qingqing had gone through the preliminary test. She now knew more members of 129 as compared to Qu Zixiao.
“The He family?” Song Qingqing asked smilingly. “Why would Miss He look for me? That’s impossible for someone as capable as her. Sorry, Young Master Qu. Let’s talk later, I have a shoot now.”
Song Qingqing offed the call and breathed a sigh of relief.
It demoralized her when she thought that she was nowhere near He Chen.
But Qu Zixiao’s phone call revitalized her.
No wonder everyone wanted to control 129.
Even the four big families couldn’t do anything about it.
In the Qu family, Qu Zixiao held his phone and spoke to Father He and Yu Xuan. “Qingqing is busy with a shoot now. She will get back to you in a couple of days.”
How could they possibly wait, considering the situation?
Father He frowned and replied, “Then, could you pass me her contact? I’ll speak to her myself. We’ll agree to everything she asks.”
Qu Zixiao forwarded the contact to Father He.
He wanted to speak as he saw Father He’s desperation. Suddenly, he heard Butler Qu’s voice. “Young Miss… I mean, Miss He, why have you returned?”
Everyone looked towards the door.
He Chen was holding her phone and taking off her sunglasses.
She wasn’t wearing any make-up. She was just wearing a pale-yellow skirt which didn’t show her figure. But it gave her a certain graceful look.
Qu Zixiao was shocked.
If it wasn’t for Butler Qu, he wouldn’t have thought that it was He Chen.
He Chen greeted Butler Qu and didn’t care about Qu Zixiao. She walked over to Father He and stopped him from calling Song Qingqing.
“What’s the matter with you?!” Father He was about to lash out at her, but he stopped himself when he remembered what had happened yesterday.
He Chen stuffed his phone into his pocket and then signaled to Yu Xuan, saying, “Follow me.”
Yu Xuan understood that she might have a bad history with Song Qingqing. He then said to Qu Zixiao, “Sorry to trouble you.”
If it wasn’t for He Jinxin, Yu Xuan wouldn’t have looked for Qu Zixiao.
If He Jinxin knew that he came to look for Qu Zixiao, she would be really upset.
He shouldn’t have been so rash, it might have affected He Chen.
Yu Xuan rubbed his eyebrows.
Father He didn’t want to leave. He turned to look at Qu Zixiao and said, “But Miss Song knows a senior member in 129.”
If they were to leave now, how could they ask people from 129 to help look for what He Jinxin needed?
But before he could say anything, he was dragged out by Yu Xuan.
…
Yu Xuan, Father He, and the secretary drove here.
He Chen didn’t want to bring Father He along. She asked him to drive Yu Xuan’s car back and told Yu Xuan and the secretary to follow her.
Forty minutes later.
He Chen stopped the car at the black street.
The secretary and Yu Xuan were seated in the backseat.
They chatted as they got out of the car. Then, they realized that they were in a foreign environment.
“Second Lady, where are we?” The secretary asked as he looked at the strange buildings.
He Chen didn’t answer and went straight in.
The two of them didn’t know what she was doing, but they followed along.
“Sister Chen?!” Someone called out when He Chen entered.
She was friendly in 129. Hence, quite a few senior members knew her.
He Chen hung her sunglasses on her shirt and pressed the lift button. She then said, “Get me a laptop.”
“Alright,” the person replied smilingly.
After He Chen left, he snuck a quick look at the people that came along with her.
The lift reached the top, and someone had already prepared a laptop for her.
He Chen brought both of them to the lounge.
Taking over the laptop, she logged into her account and then passed the laptop to the secretary, saying, “Search for it yourself.”
