After crossing the barricade behind the tank, I headed to the allies’ temporary headquarters. It took me no time to find the person I searched for, and to start planning the next move.

Valencio. How soon are we going to continue the assault?” I walked into the room he occupied, and saw the duke sitting on a chair with a very satisfied expression. But the moment I showed up, Valencio jumped out from the chair, for whatever reason he was flustered.

Whatever your noble reason may be.” I sneered at him, and nonchalantly approached the closest table.

The maps I searched for were not anywhere in sight, so I glanced back at the duke.

He coughed and stared at me.

Maps, assault, you remember we are in a combat area?

Yes, the assault… I… was waiting for you, I was not expecting to arrive so soon, apologies.

The plan, yes, we cannot proceed immediately…” I waited for a second, but he didn’t seem to be continuing.

Why cannot?

You see, we are on the outskirts of the noble district. The demeanor there is different from the outside, and nobody, not even the king, can impose their rules there.” (V)

And it means for me…?” I urged him to continue.

It means that…” But just when he started speaking, a wild shriek rumbled outside the tent.

MY LORD!” A soldier ran inside, almost falling on his way. When he noticed that the duke was not alone, the soldier prostrated and hit the ground twice, ‘facing’ first the duke and then me. He hesitated for a second afterwards, but he spilled everything out without us needing to order for it.

My Lord! s. The old city’s gatehouse was opened! Your subjects are rushing in!” The soldier bowed his head again and nervously waited for the duke’s answer.

Let us head out at once, my friend. I will join you right after I put on my armor.” (V)

Um. We’ll be waiting.” I glanced at Valencio’s empty table, and walked back to the tank.

From the distance I could clearly see the soldiers marching into the old city. They were divided into two columns by the tank.

Together with the columns of troops I also noticed something else…

Vspishka sprava!” [A flash to the right!] [This phrase and its variations are used as a signal/order that a nuke has exploded nearby and the troops need to take cover immediately.]

In a split second Jester dove back inside the turret and shut the hatch. Moments later my radio started creaking.

So damn funny, comrade Captain!” (J)

Don’t test my patience.” I grumbled.

“[I am] Guilty, comrade Captain! That’s affirmative, comrade Captain!” Jester reported, half-jokingly.

I climbed on the turret and said into the commander’s hatch: “I am glad you are starting to understand something.

The next time I see you sitting like a f*cking princess on a balcony, I am going to fire a burst at you~.

“[I am] Guilty, comrade Captain!” This time he answered seriously.

Ne velite kaznit’, tovarish Kapitan!” [Don’t give an execution order, comrade Captain!] (J)

Pomilovat’ nelzya, kaznit’.” [Do not pardon, execute.] [A Russian pun, where its entire meaning changes based on where the comma is placed. When it’s placed after the first word, it means ‘Pardon, cannot be executed’. When after the second word, like in the text, it means ‘Cannot be pardoned, execute’.]

Nu bl*.” [Oh f*ck.] (J)

Enough!” I barked at the whining disgrace of a soldier.

I already stood on the seat and gazed around, before I would close the hatch.

I looked at the troops marching and shouted: “We are going on the right side of the road, clear the way!” When I made sure they are understanding the order, I started commanding the crew.

Prepare for urban combat. Old man! Right, 40! Forward!

wrrRWWRRRR

The tank slowly started turning to the right side of the road.

Left, 40!

Stop!

 We are waiting for Valencio.

“That’s affirmative!” Both of the crew members reported.

I closed the hatch and leaned back in the seat.

While I was napping, just eyes closed, Jester threw something at me, apparently a casing.

You forgot how to speak?

“Nah, just using my chance to p**s you off.” He grinned.

F*ck you. So?

“Your leg.” (J)

My le…?

Only then I noticed that something was pushing against my left leg.
