Spread across the continent, there are :

25 Unraked country.

12 Low-Rank country.

5 Middle-Rank country.

And the 2 Hight rank countries, The Afia Kindom and Ouchen Empire.

The ranking depends on how strong are the Sects inside each country.

If there is a sect that can produce a Soul Formation Realm powerhouse inside a country, then this country will be considered a Low-rank Country!

Everything Bellow Soul formation is Considered Unranked.

There are two essential natural Resources in the continent.

First, the Spirits Vein! This resource is Formed naturally and can increase the density of qi in the region.

The locations the Spirit veins are naturally formed spread across the continent. For example, the inner part of Yellow Beast mountain is one of those locations!

The Blue Cloud sect controls the spirit vein inside the Yellow beast mountain. Still, because Souss Country is only of Low-rank, the sect only extracts the spirit vein to bring it to one of the more powerful sects in the Afia Kingdom in exchange for keeping a spirit vein from time to time, just enough to remain a small rank country.

The Blue Cloud Sect will be destroyed if they don't do this.
