Theo was bored.

He had been so for some time now, but held it in.

When he heard of the contest being held, he had gotten highly expectant, especially due to the reward being out up. If he got to fight strong people and also received a prize as precious as an Object Of Power as a reward, that was just the best.

He knew the credibility of the whole thing had to be accurate since it was the Royal family making the announcement.

It was a good chance for Theo, and he was going to take it. Excitement didn't begin to explain what the young boy had been feeling at the moment.

Unfortunately, that feeling died almost as soon as he entered the arena.

The guards didn't take too kindly to him trying to participate, so he merely 'convinced' them. The moment he got in and laid eyes on the warriors around, he already knew he was up for some disappointing display.

He wasn't wrong.

It was one thing after the other. Their skills alone were trash, and they all basically had no real special ability. The few who appeared to be able to use magic, chi, or maybe even ki, didn't seem like they could do very much.

Still, Theo had a small fraction of hope that things would turn around once he began to see people fight.

Unfortunately, that made the truth even more glaring to the lad.

Everyone around him... was weak!

Hope turned into disappointment, and his mood was ruined right away. This took the fun out of everything.

'This is stupid. Why are they all excited about these things?'

Despite thinking that, though, Theo rationally figured out that if everyone was cheering for such a man, that meant they all mostly had strength inferior to his.

'This just means the reward is as good as mine. I should be happy, right?' The boy thought to himself.

And so, Theo endured the pathetic display of strength among seemingly macho warriors and awaited his turn.

Then, when his turn came... he finally bought down the one everyone hailed as a champion with a single—casual slap!

The lifeless body of the Tall Serpent fell on the ground in a heavy thud, and while no blood was shed, the heaviness of death filled the arena.

Silence reigned for a few moments until the crowd finally broke into an uproar upon seeing the impossible sight.

"I-impossible!"

"N-no way!"

"Tall Serpent lost!?!'

They were surprised that the one whom most had thought to be the champion lost the match and his life in a single hit.

The noise caused by the crowd did not just stem from an incredible warrior's death, but also at whose hands he died. A short, child-like person who went by the name, Theo.

Their voices could reach the heavens as they exclaimed in shock, fear, anger, as well several other emotions.

It couldn't change the results, though. The man whom everyone thought would emerge victorious had met his end. If they had any complaints about the results, all they had to do was await their turn.

"Hey, referee... shouldn't you announce my win now?" Theo's eyes darted at the moderator of the tournament, ignoring the fuss of the cockroaches around him.

The sooner he ended things, the better.

"A-ah, y-yeah. Sorry about that!" The referee trembled as he drew closer to the stage, looking at the dead body of the Tall Giant from the corner of his eyes.

"T-there we have it, folks! The winner of this round is... the brave new warrior who is most definitely not a child, Theo!!!"

In response—the crowd, which would have gone crazy in cheers and hails, weakly fell silent... and began murmuring among themselves. There was just no way they could cheer for a child they knew nothing of.

"The Tall Giant must have gotten so weak after all those consecutive wins that even a child brought him down."

"Yeah. That makes sense."

These warriors, forgetting the loud reverb caused by Theo's slap and how the esteemed warrior's neck twisted entirely, foolishly made excuses to escape the reality of the winner's strength.

It wasn't like Theo cared in the slightest, though.

"Hey, call the next person." He simply said in his raw and brutish tone.

The moderator would have been upset by the disrespectful way the boy addressed him, but after seeing the sight of the Tall Serpent's death up close, there was no way he would make such a suicidal mistake.

Waving at no one in particular, the referee gave the signal to have a couple of guards come to take the Tall Giant's body away from the stage. It would be inconvenient if a corpse remained on stage for the next round.

While the guards arrived on stage, he brought out the long list of contestants from within his suit and made the call for another name.

"The Whistling Gale: Aiden Suiyan!"

The moment this name was made, everyone burst into cheers. Surprise, mixed with anticipation, could be discerned from the energy they poured into their shouts.

Why?

This was because the man that was just announced was a warrior who surpassed the Tall Giant in both strength and fame! The lightning-fast warrior who wielded a dagger that could cleanly slice the thickest of bones in half.

>WHOOOSH<

In a flash, with a whisper of wind, the man showed his face.

He was dressed very lightly, having only a singlet, and baggy trousers. Straps of cloth were tied on both his arms, covering him from the elbow and everything else below.

Naturally, that meant his wrists and palms were all covered in the black fabric of the cloth cooking around his body.

He had a sharp gaze and intense-looking eyes. His eyes were squinted, most likely due to his intensely quick movements.

If he kept them wide open, a lot of dust would find its way into his eyes. That was why this was the best way he could see. The Whistling Gale preferred things this way, though.

Nothing but his target was in sight.

As soon as Aiden Suiyan made his appearance, the audience gave louder cheers, but Theo remained quiet.

He knew this match would end just like the previous one, after all.

The moderator sensed that this would be a dangerous match, so he already started taking steps back to ensure he kept a safe distance.

"Now, then... without any further delay, you may begin!"

With these words signaling the commencement of a blood-curdling bout, the Whistling Gale readied his dagger and prepared to go all out from the start.

Unlike the fool, Tall Serpent, he never made the mistake of underestimating his enemy. He would use his frightening speed to deal the first strike and end things instantly.

That was the kind of man he was!

Unfortunately, his body could not follow up with his thoughts before Theo appeared right in front of him, faster than a blur.

"Wha—?!"

Before any words would come out of the warrior's mouth, Theo used his usual move... the casual slap.

>WHAP!<

The reverb echoed across the area, and once again, a twist followed.

>THUD!<

The lifeless body of a famed warrior fell to the ground, ending the match in less than five seconds.

As absurd as it was, the truth played right in front of everyone. They couldn't deny it... Theo was the winner.

"Next!"
