Chapter 19: V2C4 – Curse, No Different Curse

Hinami Hikaru:

"I won't let y-you hurt Onii-chan..."

"The most troublesome of the blasted heroes, Ryosuke Hikaru...is within my grasp so w-why!?"

Struggling outside the door to Ryosuke's room was Hinami Hikaru, Ryosuke's little sister. A middle schooler that gives off similar vibes to him but much gentler. In her hand is a knife that she's desperately trying to throw away from her grip. Her head screams in agony as she stops herself from entering the room. She knows that entering the room would spell disaster for either her or her brother. The voice in her mind that feels like it's going to possess her being is rampaging...

"Y-You aren't going in!"

"An inferior human thinks that they can resist me? You think that this incomplete possession will save your brother? WRONG! The heroes will die by my hands...I swear it..."

Hinami clenched her teeth and palms tightly as the knife fell to the floor and Vetheris concluded his assault. She doesn't know why this person is attacking her brother...but she will protect him.

"Hmph. Well, if I can't hurt him directly..."

Hinami returned to her room while not knowing of Vetheris's plans.

Akito Harada:

"Hey, Harada-kun~"

"What? Nakano-san..."

"What do you think about [Magical Girls]?"

"Huh? What is it so suddenly...well I mean they're our saviors that should be praised for killing [Curses]?"

"Hmm...who should I be praised by?"

"Humanity? For saving them..."

"Well, it's not like I asked for that."

"What's your point...why are you telling me this..."

"Fila kind of made me become a [Magical Girl]. Well, it isn't a bad job financially and I do get praised a lot."

"Do you not like being a [Magical Girl]?"

"It's so-so. My other work got a bit behind when it happened though."

"Oh, that's right, you were an idol."

"Hey! When did you forget that?"

"Well, I mean you talk to a nobody like me casually every day so I didn't really think of you as someone like that."

"Someone like that? What's that supposed to mean Akito...I can talk to who I want!"

"Is that so?"

As Ai happily talked away to Akito, a bubbling rage was seething within a certain boy named Keito Watanabe...

Keito Watanabe:

As he was walking on the barren road home after school,

"Why is my Ai-chan talking to that insect!? I finally see her in person every day at school but she's always hanging around idiots!!! My Ai-chan is being defiled by their presence...as expected, an idol shouldn't be at a place with those things. Don't worry my precious...I'll save you from those low beings. Especially that Akito Harada who talks to you like that even though he's a nobody...and those trash riajuus who think they're better than everyone...this Keito Watanabe will help you out Ai-chan. As one of your fans...yes this is what my job is. My Ai-chan needs to be protected from the rabble..."

Keito spoke to himself on and on like a madman.

"That jealously and obsession, very delectable indeed."

"Hmm?"

Keito turned around, bothered by the sudden musical voice. Standing there was a girl with beautiful deep chocolate hair and round blue eyes like evening waves.

"Do you want the power to fulfill that wish?"

"Hmph. What do you know kid? Get lost."

Keito proceeded to push past the seemingly middle school-aged girl's gaze and went further and further.

"Insolent human, well, not like I needed your consent anyway. My goal is complete."

The possessed Hinami muttered it as she looked at the eerily twisting mana around the student's arm. A spell that Vetheris cast during the interaction, the [Berserk Curse] which would bring hell to school the next day.

[Demon Lord] Vetheris:

"By giving the [Berserk Curse], a curse that strengthens and makes one lose reason, to that one, he'll target the people around the supposed Ai Nakano which would be the heroes. I would also like to test the strength of Earth's so-called, [Magical Girls]."

"..."

"Haha, it seems that the one who owns this vessel can no longer openly fight against me? Well, your consciousness will flare up in emergencies or if I try to hurt Ryosuke. Other than that, my control is full...you cannot escape me, lowlife."

"..."

"Now, let's wait till tomorrow, the fated day of the hero's demise!"

"..."

"Fufufu..."

In the classroom of 2-A:

"Hey, Nakano-san..."

"What's wrong Rino-san?"

"Do you know the [Magical Girl Aki]?"

"...what was she like?"

"She was very nice and strong, probably reliable as an ally. She said she would help me fight [Curses] if we found ourselves on the same battlefield."

Tatsumi whispered to Ryosuke,

"Oi oi, was there really a need to attack her? She didn't seem like she wanted to fight and Ai says she's actually a great person..."

"I don't know anymore..."

Ai spoke out again,

"Well, she is mysterious but I don't think she's anything bad. Fila doesn't say so either--"

"AI-CHAN!!!"

"Hmm?"

A sickly-looking classmate with black hair suddenly shouted.

"Do you need something from me?"

"Nakano-san, get back!"

Ryosuke pushed Ai behind him and stood in front of the student, Keito Watanabe, preparing his mana reserves.

"Rino, what is this?"

"I feel the [Berserk Curse], it has to be the work of Vetheris."

"Sh*t, he's playing around with us from the dark."

The other hero party members stood side by side with Ryosuke. Then, the school alarm suddenly went off with a constant blaring beep. Over the announcements,

"A [Curse] has entered the school premise. Please evacuate immediately."

"A [Curse] attack? At this time...? Did Vetheris plan such a thing?"

"I'm going."

Ai said it briefly and manifested her silver spear with a cold face. She rushed out of the door towards the location the [Curse] was said to be at without hesitation. She was clearly a [Magical Girl] used to emergency and battle.

Keito began,

"Wait, Ai-chan!!!"

Keito began to run after her at an unnatural speed for a human. His blood vessels were pulsing disgustingly outside his body and his bloodshot eyes flickered crazily.

"This is probably not good."

Hero Party:

After the [Curse] alarm sounded, the students began to evacuate orderly in the way they were taught with drills like it was another natural disaster. But, the hero party went to follow after Ai and Keito, who was likely tied to Vetheris.

They arrived quickly at the site, only to see a giant black spider with red beady eyes waiting for them. This is probably what tripped off the alarm, mistaken by somebody as a [Curse]. But, this is not a [Curse], and the heroes know what it actually is.

"The [Demon Lord] Vetheris's familiar, the spider monster known for extreme agility, [Arog]."

It was as they thought, the [Demon Lord] was attacking them from their school. This means that the [Demon Lord] already has a grasp on their identities while the heroes have no clues on their end. Frustrated, Ryosuke proclaimed,

"You guys take care of [Arog]. Satomi, Rino, and I will go after the cursed student and Ai."

""Roger that!""

The group tried to split and ready to receive Vetheris's attack on all ends...but then [Arog] closed their exit with thick and sticky webbing. 

"I guess we have to fight together until this thing dies then..."

Ai Nakano:

As Ai was running quickly to the site of the [Curse] (which was actually [Arog]), she felt a crash to her side. The body of a male school student pushed her out of the nearby window and she landed on the floor. She crashed with a thud and suffered no major injuries as a [Magical Girl].

"AI-CHAN!!!"

Keito Watanabe descended after her.

"What are you doing...!? Aren't you Keito Watanabe-kun?"

Keito got on top of the disorientated Ai, pushing her down and breathing irregularly due to the [Berserk Curse].

"Indeed, it is me it is me. To think that you know my name, I'm honored~"

"Get off me this instant!"

"Don't worry, you don't need to fight. Those guys will just die in your place. The utter filth that thinks they can breathe the same air as my Ai-chan...will DIE!!!"

"Y-You’re crazy..."

"No...just think of this as my loyalty to you...my Ai-chan."

Ai struggled intensely but her strength and Keito's were somehow similar. Her spear couldn't be used at this distance and neither could [Void Point]. 

"I need to get to that [Curse]..."

"I won't let you get hurt Ai-chan~"
