There is something that Jin has been thinking about for a while now. It is a stove. In Kaina village, or rather in this world, firewood is generally used for cooking.
However, firewood is used after chopping down trees, pruning branches, chopping into small pieces, drying, and splitting the firewood. Cutting down the tree and hauling it to the site is hard work, and the drying process takes about six months. Undried raw wood is difficult to burn and smokes a lot. In a world where people did not have the idea of making charcoal, firewood was the source of heat for the common people.
"I still want a magi crystal,...... or even a magi stone.
There was a mountain of them in the basement of the institute," said a disappointed Jin. Well, the amount of resources stored in the institute is enough to disrupt the distribution.
(It's no use asking for something you don't have. Well, my hypothesis is that there is a subatomic particle called a magicon that attaches itself to a proton like a neutron to form a nucleus. I think it is similar to radioisotope.
Jin's hypothesis is that the same element with a magic electron attached to its nucleus has magical power. This is the result of a combination of his knowledge of magic as a "Magecraft Meister" and his knowledge at the level of a modern Japanese high school graduate. No one in this world has ever even tried to think of such a thing.
(In other words, it should be possible to enrich uranium in the same way as uranium, but we don't have the materials or facilities.)
In a research institute, Jin could have built a magical elemental enrichment device in a day, but here in the village of Kaina, there was nothing he could do.
"Onii-chan, do you want to play with me?
Hannah invited Jin to play with her.
"Oh, yes, that's right. Where do you want to go?"
"It's hot, let's go swimming."
There is a big river called the Erme River running south of the village, and it seems to go all the way to the royal capital. Roland told me that the river is not used for water transportation because of the many waterfalls along the way.
"Okay, let's go."
So they changed into their swimsuits and headed for the river. The swimsuits were not much different from underwear. Hanna was fine with the fact that she was wearing only her underwear, and Jin didn't have to worry about it either.
Many children had already come to the river to swim, including Barbara, the niece of the village head. Barbara, as expected, had a cloth wrapped around her chest as well.
"Oh, Jin-chan! And Hannah too!"
Kurt shouts when he sees them. Mario and Jesse waved at them.
"It's not good for your health if you go into the river. You have to pour water on your body and go in slowly.
"Yes."
Hannah warns Jin as they slowly enter the river. He swims at the edge of the river where the current is slow. The pool is about 20 meters wide and 3 meters deep at its deepest point.
"It feels so good!
"Oh, yes, it really is."
As he floated in the water and rested his head for a moment, water was splashed on his face.
"Phew!"
"Hehehe, Jin-chan, what are you just standing there? Let's play!"
It was the mischievous Kurt who poured water on me.
"You got him!"
"He's stuck!"
"Oh, you want to play tag? I'm in!
"Me too!" "Me too!"
Before I knew it, the kids had gathered and turned it into a game of underwater tag. Barbara stood in the shallow end, smiling at them.
"Hannah, I got you!
"Jesse, I got you!"
"And Kurt?"
"Oh, there he is! He's in there!
Okay.
Kurt dives deep into the abyss and escapes.
It was Mario, a good swimmer, who caught Kurt near the bottom of the pool. As he does so, Kurt goes berserk, causing the sand at the bottom of the abyss to roll up. Jin saw this and an idea flashed through his mind.
"Oh, that was fun!
The children get out of the water after playing. It is almost noon, and everyone is heading home.
"You guys should take a quick dip in the hot spring before you go home.
"Yes."
Jin called out to the children, for he was afraid that they might get sick if they were still cold. Well, the children in this village are not that carefree.
Jin verifies his earlier idea while taking a hot bath himself.
(Just as atoms with more neutrons are heavier, atoms with extra magicons attached to them should be heavier. If so, it should be possible to sift them out in the water like gold sand.)
"Onii-chan, are you out yet?
Hannah's voice calls out to Jin, who comes back to himself. He returned to Martha's house sweating because he had soaked in the hot water for too long. Hannah looks cool.
"What's the matter, you look hot for a swimmer?
Martha said to me.
"Yeah, I was just thinking."
When I told him that, he laughed at me and said, "You are the same as ever.
In the afternoon, Jin was alone again at the Ermee River. Hannah was taking a nap.
"Well, let's give it a try.
She mutters to herself and gets into the water. With a big plate in her hand.
First, she scooped sand from the bottom of the river into the dish and shook it in the water. The lighter sand is swept away by the water, but the heavier sand remains.
This is a gold mining technique called wanguage. Of course, Jin had no experience with this technique, but he had seen it done on TV.
After repeating the process several times, a small amount of red-colored sand remained at the bottom of the dish. I get out of the water and check it out. By magic, of course.
"Analyze. ...... yes, it's a fire magi stone. It's better than I thought.
I repeated several times, but all I could find were red magi stones.
"Hmmm, maybe it has something to do with the fact that there is a hot spring. But, well, it's an unexpected luck."
The fire magi stone is a good material to make a stove.
That day, Jin was collecting magi stones until Hanna came looking for him in the evening.
The next day, Jin is in his workshop. The materials he uses this time are iron-based. He was sorry to ask Hannah to go and play by herself, as it was dangerous to handle fire.
"Well, that's the basic shape, isn't it?
Jin, thinking of the shape of a common cassette stove, transforms the iron into a steel plate. Once again, he thinks that magic is useful. However, he does not realize that it is only because he is a Magecraft Meister that he is able to do this with such precision.
The finished iron plate is now bent to form the shape of a stove. A heater made of Magi Stone is placed on the burner part, and a Magi Stone container replaces the cassette cylinder.
Since this is a prototype, it is shaped like a cassette stove, but in the end I would like to make it look like a gas table.
"Okay, it's done!
What I noticed when I started to make it was the adjustment of the heat power. This is achieved by adjusting the magical power supplied from the magi stone to the heater with a knob.
"I'll have to give it a try right away."
Jin took the finished stove to Martha. Martha was just about to start preparing for lunch and had just taken out the wood to boil water for the pot.
"Yes, it's called a stove, and you can cook without using firewood.
Is it a magical tool after all?
Yes, it is. Can you try it?
I'll be glad to use it. What do you want me to do with it?
Put the stove on the cooktop and put a pot of water on the pot.
"It's easy to use. First, lift up this lever. Then you twist this knob, and the heater heats up and the water boils. You can adjust the heat by twisting the knob.
Martha's eyes widened,
"What a magic tool! <? ...... I didn't know it was so easy to control the heat! Jin! This is amazing!
Jin was delighted, and so was I.
It is very difficult to control the heat with firewood. It depends on the amount and type of wood. Martha is amazing at cooking delicious food in spite of this, but Jin, whose cooking skills are at a beginner's level, does not understand that much.
But even for Martha, this was a breakthrough.
After several days of prototype testing, there were no problems, and all the houses in the village were very grateful to Jin for making enough stoves for the whole village and teaching them how to collect magic stones for replenishment.
