A peninsula at the southern tip of the continent where the Lesser Antilles is located. The name is Elias Peninsula. It is under the rule of the Elias Kingdom of the same name and has a thriving maritime, fishing, and salt manufacturing industry.
It is connected to the continent only by a narrow strip of land, and there is little traffic to and from other small groups of nations, and a unique culture was being formed.
"I see, it's warm here.
Jin breathes in the sea breeze.
Jin is now walking around the port town of Potlock, the eastern gateway to the Kingdom of Elias, guided by Reiko.
"It was here on the coast that I was sent away on my 15th runaway transition. There was an erosion cave, so I set up a warp gate there and hid it by disguising it as a rock or something."
"I'm sorry you had to go through that too."
Jin says to Reiko, "I've put you through a lot of hardship too.
"No, it's only natural.
Reiko replied, but looked happy.
We have the same currency, don't we?
"Yes. Yes. It's a small group of countries, so it's the same.
Jin had a little money in his pocket from selling magic tools and magi stones in the Blue Lands.
"Well then, let's go and settle down in a cheap inn somewhere.
Located in the south and surrounded by the sea, it is a winter resort for tourists. Therefore, there are many lodging facilities in the area.
"I'm looking for a place to stay for about 200 dollars a night, but I'm wondering if there's any kind of information center."
"Shall I go and ask?"
Reiko said,
"Yes, let's ask. Ask at the stall over there that sells kushiyaki skewers. And while you're at it, buy me a skewer.
"Yes, I'll do that."
Reiko ran to the stall, bought a skewer, and talked with the owner about something.
He was talking to the owner about something, but then nodded and came back.
"Oh, that smells good."
It was similar to grilled squid, seasoned with some kind of fish sauce.
"Yes, it's good."
Jin ate the grilled skewer and listened to Reiko's report.
"So, I heard that there is no such thing as an information center. But I asked the owner for his recommendation for a place to stay.
"I see. That's good. And where is it?
Yes. Go straight down the main street, turn left at the corner of the tool shop, and you will find it at the end of the street.
So that's where we go.
First, we walk down the main street. Both sides are lined with stone buildings. The buildings are lined with stone on both sides, perhaps because they are resistant to the sea breeze.
"I wonder if this culture dates back to the Middle Ages."
Reiko responds to Jin's soliloquy.
"I'm not sure about the medieval period, but I have the impression that it is somewhat behind the time of your mother's time.
"Well, maybe it's because of the or something. Once the civilization was destroyed, the number of mages who were the bearers of the civilization decreased drastically.
We were talking about this when we came to a tool shop.
"Turn left at the corner of the tool shop."
Is it there?
At the end of the street was an old but sturdy stone building. A small sign hung on the wall.
"This seems to be the place."
We walked in.
"Hello.
"Yes, are you staying with us?"
A well-dressed woman greeted us at the counter.
I heard about you at the kushiyaki stall, and I was wondering if you would like to stay overnight.
"You're here through Paul, aren't you? "Well, it's 200 Tolls per person per night, but your daughter is small, so we'll charge you 3 I'll give you 200 Tol per person per night.
"Yes, sure. Then write your name here. ...... Jin, and Reiko, right? ...... Here's the key to your room. You'll have to pay extra for meals in the cafeteria."
"Okay."
So they went to their room. The stairs were made of stone, soft stone, so that the sound of their footsteps did not echo.
"It looks like Oya stone."
As a Magecraft Meister, Jin is also interested in stone. Oyaishi, or floating stone tuff, is also found on Horai Island. This stone is used for building materials because it is fire-resistant and easy to process.
This is your room, isn't it?
On the door, instead of a room number, it says <>.
"That's the name of a fish, isn't it?"
Reiko tells me to look at the doors of the other rooms, and I find <><><> and so on.
"What kind of fish is Bonito?"
"I don't know?"
Reiko doesn't know much about fish either.
Anyway, we enter the room. There are two beds and a small table. And two stools.
There seemed to be a shelf on the wall for luggage. The toilet was at the opposite end of the corridor.
Looking out of the small window, you can see the seaside. As the name of the house is <, it seems to have been built facing the sea.
The only luggage I have is a bag containing a change of underwear and other clothes. If they wanted to, they could return to Horai Island. However, I rented an inn in consideration of socializing with the people of this town.
There are no bathrooms, only facilities similar to showers. Jin gave up on the idea that he would have to take a bath on Horaijima,
"Well then, let's take another look around the town.
"Yes, father."
So they locked the door to their room and left it with the woman at the front desk before going outside.
"Father, where would you like to go first?"
"Well, I would like to see a ship, so let's go to the harbor.
So we go to the sea first.
< is an inlet of the sea. It seemed to be a bathing beach, and there were a few bathers there.
Looking to the left and right, I saw a lot of boats about 300 meters ahead on the right side.
"That seems to be the harbor.
If you walk along the shore, you will soon come to the harbor. Vessels of various sizes were quietly swaying in the waves. It smelled like fish, probably because many of them were used for fishing.
The hulls are mostly made of wood. Metal seems to be used only for reinforcement.
Jin immediately begins to observe.
"Father, this ship is interesting.
Hearing Reiko's voice, he went over to the boat, and sure enough, there was an interesting boat afloat.
"A catamaran."
It was indeed a ship in the shape of what is called a catamaran on the modern Earth. It was about 4 meters long.
"It's a ship with both high speed and stability. But what is it used for?"
As Jin was talking to himself, a voice came from behind him.
"Well, look at it. Are you a shipwright too?
When he turned around, there was a woman who looked a few years older than Jin.
She had a good style, showing where she stood out, and was slender where she was slender. She had short blonde hair, giving the impression of being active. Her blue eyes reminded me of the ocean, and her tanned skin was firm and healthy looking.
"No, I'm Magecraft My ...... Magecraftsman."
Jin almost called himself a master again. But when the woman heard the name "Magecraftsman," her eyes lit up,
She said, "A Magecraftsman! Hey, do you belong to any organization?
When asked this question, Jin replied,
"No, I don't."
Then the woman smiled more happily,
"So you're free! That's perfect. What's your name? I'm Marcia.
I'm Jin. And this is Reiko.
Jin and Reiko. Jin and Reiko, right. Nice to meet you. So come on over here and let's have a chat.
Marcia invites us to a coffee shop in the harbor. There were no other customers in the cabin, so the three of them chose a seat at the far end of the room and sat down.
