Chapter 14: Back to Home (3)

Silence stretched in the room and the first to react visibly was Cyclops who clenched his jaws and turned to glare at Enrique (though Enrique could only assume he was glaring since his eyes weren't visible).

"What's the meaning of this?" Cyclops started. "Are you already taking advantage of her, using saving her life as an excuse? Based on the dresses you are wearing you just woke up – why is she in your room?"

'Fucking hell'. Enrique suddenly hated this dude. First, he barged inside someone else's house and then he had the cheek to ask whatever someone else was doing?

"Sorry to break it to you, champ," Enrique pulled Anna by her waist, hugging her intimately and ignoring Bobby's jealous scowl. "Your girlfriend, the Phoenix host, did this after controlling the body of this girl. Can't say if it was to test what'd I do to Anna if she offered her to me, or if Jean just wanted a better lap to sit her perfect butt on."

"This bastard! Take that back!" Cyclops growled and put a hand on his visor and prepared to fire but Jean raised a hand with a defeated sigh.

Logan suppressed a chuckle at that.

"Sorry, it really was me… as for why I did that, it's the first reason he spoke," Jean said. "Unfortunately he saw through me somehow."

"To add to that, I missed the part where I permitted you to enter? Pretty sure this is called trespassing." Enrique stood up, dropping Anna to the side as his clothes changed to a slim white suit. He turned to Charles. "Nice to meet you again, Professor Charles. I hate how you brought the whole gang here, though, makes me wonder if you're here for a fight."

"Certainly not," Charles replied slowly. He seemed somewhat uncomfortable as he spoke. Was he hurt somewhere? "It's a measure in case Magneto attacks again. You see, it's not exactly hard to find your abode now that you are famous."

"I suppose you got a point there." Enrique nodded, not buying his bullshit. "Also, Scott," he turned to the idiot. "Why did you think it wasn't a good idea to bring Jean along with you yesterday? Even though you brought her here today? So incompetent."

Scott tried to say something, but Jean stopped him and spoke in his stead with a sigh. "Please refrain from insulting him at every chance. Professor was hurt trying to find Anna using Cerebro, so I tried next. Though I did succeed in finding her, I was hurt as well. Also, apologies for doing what I did a minute ago."

Enrique grabbed a water bottle and uncapped it. "Apology accepted. Next time, in any similar 'tests', perhaps you should do them with your own body. I won't mind."

She closed her eyes and sighed again while Scott visibly shook. Even Logan seemed displeased. Geez, so many men after one woman.

Only Storm had a slight smile on her face. Enrique smiled back at her.

"And hey there. Stormy, right? Thanks for the help yesterday." He waved at Storm who blinked in surprise that she didn't get any insults. "Really, it would have been hard without you."

Storm simply gave a short nod just as Bobby walked over to Anna.

"Anna, what's the meaning of this? Are you okay?" he asked as he tried to put a hand on her shoulders. But, Anna backed off. This time, not in panic but in disgust. "Huh? Anna? What's wrong?"

"Please… stay away from me," Anna said, but it sounded like a threat. "Let's not pretend nothing happened that day."

"What are you talking about Anna?" Bobby looked helpless.

"You should stay away, boy." Enrique stepped between them, patting Anna's head. "She told me what you did to her. Really, what a scumbag. Tsk, teenagers."

He and Anna shared some stories before sleeping last night and he learned everything that happened in the last week from her. He was pretty sure – given something similar happened in the movies – that the Bobby that made Anna leave was actually Mystique but he had no reason to clear that up. Rather, it was advantageous to him.

"Mister Nova," Charles spoke before Bobby could. "The story you heard, there has been a misunderstanding. Anna, you too. It was a mutant named Mystique, you might know of her. She is seen as the revolutionary of the entire mutant race. She presented herself as Bobby and told Anna all those things."

Right.

"And how can we believe you?" Enrique asked. "No, why should we believe you? That's a neat excuse- it was Mystique. It can work in all the major events in the world. 'The criminal was Mystique'. Sorry, I am buying it."

"Because I have no reason to lie to you, Mister Nova." Charles replied. "You are a mutant now. One of us. I don't see why I should lie to my own kind about this."

"I can see many reasons why you would lie though. Anna's power is godly, and that might be an understatement. She can beat your entire X-men, Jean Grey included, if trained properly. You don't want to help her, no, you just want to suppress her to not hurt anybody, isn't that right?"

"Mister Nova!" Charles hissed harshly. "I don't see my kind that way."

"Right, you don't." Enrique snickered. "Now if you would be quick and explain just why you are here."

Charles's breathing was getting faster and noticing that Jean took his place. "We wish to offer you a job as a professor in our academy. You are a mutant now, so it is deemed fine. Anna can finally be at peace at the school if you come with us."

Enrique raised an eyebrow. "You say that as if Anna is ready to return to your school already." he turned to Anna. "Hey, you wanna go back?" he watched as she quickly shook her head, looking at Bobby in disdain. She wasn't buying the story of Mystique either, Enrique didn't let her. "See? She doesn't want to go back. I will figure out a way to help her myself. As you said I am a mutant now, you can trust me to not hurt my own kind – Anna, in this context – without any worry."

Bobby decided to meddle again. "Hey, Anna, is this guy threatening you? Talk to me, just give and  nod, we will figure out a way."

Though Anna had only been with Enrique for less than two days in total, she had told him everything she knew about Bobby like a good girl. However, Anna hadn't told Bobby about him at all in the week she spent in X-Mansion. She didn't trust to reveal it in case Bobby figured out his identity.

When Anna didn't say anything, Bobby stepped towards her with a worried expression, but Enrique stepped between him, with his face not so neutral anymore as his skin became pale and his fingernails became sharper and he looked down on Bobby.

"I think I told you to stay away. She's safe with me. On the contrary, she does not need an untrustworthy little boy beside her." Enrique said.

The whole room went silent with only Enrique's soft growling filling the air. Jean finally pulled Bobby back as the boy looked at the ground with a helpless yet angry face. This time, it was Wolverine who spoke.

"Anna," Logan looked at Anna, and this time she didn't show any hostility. "I heard about this guy from Jean. She said you trust him, izzat true?" he watched her nod. "Alright. Then I got no reason to meddle here if you really trust him and wanna stay. You guys can continue whatever you are doing, I am leaving."

Without any word, Logan walked out of the apartment. Jean looked at him, possibly telling him something telepathically, but he didn't stop.

After a short silence, Charles looked at Anna again. "The gate of the school is always open for you. Remember my words that it was Mystique – if you ever gain evidence of that and feel like you need to leave, you can always return to the school. Don't… let anyone control you, Anna." He glanced at Enrique. "Your powers are great for the mutant kind, hold on to it tightly. Everyone, let's go."

Scott pushed Charles' wheelchair and walked out with a grumpy chin. Jean stared at Enrique with a weird, confused gaze – which confused Enrique in turn – before she sighed.

"The Phoenix," she said. "likes you. I don't know why, but it finds you… amazing."

Uh.

Aha.

Could it sense his otherworldly origin? Or was it his natural charm? Perhaps both.

Jean then looked at Bobby and gestured for him to follow her. Bobby did, only after glaring at both Anna and Enrique – therefore solidifying Anna's disdain for him.

'Stupid kid.'

Enrique waited for a few seconds for them to leave, and then stared at the only other X-men left. She didn't follow the others right away, she stared back at him.

Storm, real name Ororo Munroe, her arms crossed as she smiled at him.

"You feel… familiar," she said in her cute, soft accent as she walked over to him. "Do you feel the same? Is that why you were nice to only me?"

"Somewhat, yes." Enrique nodded. "Did you know your ancestors were African priestesses?"

"That…" Her eyes widened and she nodded. "My mom told me once. What of it?"

"The Goddess they were the priestess of, I am her Avatar," Enrique said. "An Avatar is kind of like an adopted son, for short. My mother goddess, Mut, is the one who gave you the majority of your powers. She basically enhanced your mutant gene."

Storm was surprised.

"No, I am not expecting you to believe me or anything. That's just what my Goddess said." he shrugged.

"No, my mother…" Ororo said. "She said something about Mut when I was young. I can't really remember but yes she used to worship a statue of Mut. Though personally, I don't believe in Gods."

"Well," Enrique couldn't blame her, he was the same until a week ago.

Right then, his Goddess spoke in his mind.

["Can you kiss her?"] she asked, making him pause. ["That'd allow me to bring her consciousness to me for a moment. Try touching her first, it will make things easier."]

Couldn't she do it some other way?

He sighed internally and decided there was no losing in sharing a kiss with a hot babe.

"Gods do exist," Enrique moved his hand around her waist, grabbing her by the chin with his other hand and watched her surprise grow. Whatever thing Mut talked about that'd happen if he touched her seemed to be true. He felt – and he knew she was feeling too – a jolt of pleasure from the point of their touching skin. What sorcery was this? Enrique didn't even have to move after that as Storm herself wrapped her arm around his neck before capturing his lips with a hungry moan.

Anna watched from the side in a pausing, uncomfortable silence as he kissed Storm, but there was no movement after the kiss had started. Storm wasn't even in her body anymore, her consciousness pulled to somewhere else entirely.

A few seconds later, her senses returned and she pushed him away while breathing heavily.

"Haah… haah… haah…" she looked at him and then Anna. Sharing her head rapidly, she was about to turn around and leave, but before doing so she looked at Enrique one last time. "That thing that turned you into a mutant is destructive. It might kill you. Try asking your… Goddess for help."

Saying so, she stormed off the apartment.

"Uh," he blinked. "What did you do to her, my Goddess?"

["Don't worry. Just showed her some proof."]

Enrique was confused but from the sheer shock Storm was in Mut really might be onto something.

However, Enrique didn't have time to care about that. Because not only was the kiss not as fun as it should have been (going by the pleasure he felt upon touching her) since Storm was out of her body all of a sudden, but the other girl in the room was pissed as well.

Rogue glared at him with wet, red eyes and puffed-up cheeks before running off to her room.

Hah, teenagers. So sentimental.
