06: Escape [1]

—-

Ah . . .  he needed to make a plan now. A plan to escape the Hydra base he was in, with the most low-profiled approach possible. But he was not sure as to how he should do that. Not yet. To formulate a plan to escape from this place, he needed some time. And he had time. One month, to be more specific. His Goddess did say that he could train for one month if he wanted to, but he was skeptical about whether he should do that or not.

One month was not a long time, if he were to train, then he wouldn't have time to do research and investigate the base, which was essential if he wanted to break out in a month. He, unfortunately, couldn't go all "One Punch Man" on Hydra. Not with his measly strength. Maybe in the future, he'd be strong enough to do that, but for now, he was sure that he would be hunted down and die if he were to even try that.

His Goddess would revive him, of course. After all, she'd said she could; but he didn't want that. If there was one thing he learned after dying at his bastard son's hands, it was that dying was a disgusting feeling. And he wanted to, if possible, never feel that again.

Back to the topic, he couldn't escape in plain sight. It wasn't possible in just one month's time. So, he'd have to work around that.

"How I wish I could just teleport." He sighed, murmuring under his breath. No one would pick this little whisper up.

["Teleport? Why would you want to teleport?"] oh, apparently, his Goddess was still there with him, so she heard his little whisper. "Can you not form a telepathic connection? I can't just speak out loud; they'll notice. And since you can't read my mind-"

["Done!"] A cheerful voice resounded. And he tested if it was working.

'Is this working? Hello?'

["Yes, yes, it works fine."]

'So, yeah, I was thinking that it would've been way easier if I could just teleport out of this base.' He sighed.

[". . . who said you can't?"]

Nova blinked.

'What?'

["I said: why don't you teleport, then?"]

'I can do that?'

["Yes, well, it's not really teleportation, but I have something similar for you."]

'I'm listening.'

["Okay, now, tell me, Nova. What is a storm?"]

Why would she ask that? Nova knitted his eyebrows but answered her anyway. 'Storm, violent atmosphere disturbance, characterized by barometric pressure, cloud cover, precipitation, strong winds, and occasional Lightning and Thunder.'

["Exactly. You can do it with one of them. Here, I'll even give you a hint. It has something to do with precipitation."]

Nova fell into thoughts.

What was Precipitation? And what did it have to do with teleportation?

He wasn't sure. He needed something more to work with. 'I need some more information.'

A sigh tickled his ear. ["You have my every power. Although to a lesser extent, you still do. Anyway, one of the abilities attached to the storm aspect of my name is Precipitation Manipulation. The ability to manipulate precipitation. Simply put, the user of this ability can create, shape, and manipulate precipitation. It has many applications. You could manipulate the properties of precipitation, move or lift precipitation, generate water, or even attack with water. Other than that, there's Sub-Zero rain. But that's not the important stuff for now. what you need to know is that there is a technique of precipitation known as Evaporation. And that's what you need to do if you want to escape."]

That was . . . a lot to take in, but he wasn't really bothered. And being the Marvel geek he was, back in the day, he could connect the dots now—even though he'd forgotten most of what he remembered.

(A/N: Do not compare yourself with him. even though he has forgotten most of the things he remembered—back in the old days when he was an Avid Marvel Enjoyer. He only remembers little bits—from his perspective alone. But even that little bit of what he remembers is a lot—a lot!—from our perspective since he used to consume Marvel-related stuff akin to drugs.

Oh, and as good of an excuse that is, I will be honest too. It is convenient for me this way.)

Evaporation.

In the simplest of words, it is the power to vaporize oneself and/or objects, and then, fuse them back together.

The user of this power can vaporize objects, including themselves and/or other beings, into mist. Atoms separate and lose cohesion, "evaporating" into the surrounding environment. They can either fuse the target back together or sublime the target by fatally dispersing the atoms/molecules into nothingness. During the process of vaporization, the target may move to a new location, which is why this is often mistaken for teleportation.

That's what he'd read back in the day about Evaporation on the Marvel Wiki, (Oh, he had an unhealthy addiction to consuming things related to Marvel back then, he hadn't even left the abilities he was interested in).

Anyway, Evaporation could be considered teleportation in a way. Strictly speaking, it was not teleportation, it was just moving from point A to point B while in the mist form. Which, from someone else's perspective, might appear as teleportation.

It was not what he was looking for, but it was more than enough for now. He had a plan now, kind of rough around the edges for now, but a solid plan nonetheless. And this Evaporation would prove to be the most important factor in its successful completion.

And, there lies the problem. For the plan to work, he needed Evaporation, but for this ability to work, he first needed to learn it, which he couldn't at the moment. He was being monitored 24/7, he couldn't practice an ability that could, potentially, let him escape. No matter how lenient the Hydra was being with him, he was sure they'd strap him with something to prevent him from evaporating.

He sighed. He'd just hit himself on the foot by letting those four bastards catch him that easily. He should've just made a run for it.

Now, it was time to enact the first step of his plan. Showing himself as a "failed soldier" so that they would lower the attention being put on him. Of course, he would have to do it just enough so they wouldn't outright dissect him, given that, for them, he would be useless, and he would better serve as a lab rat than a soldier.

Anyway, from today onwards, he started showing 'defects'. When they trained him, he would make mistakes, and act as though his mind wasn't working. When he was asked to use his 'powers' so that they could observe, he would make it so that his powers won't manifest no matter how hard he tried. Or he would outright manifest his powers as though they'd lost control. He started acting dumb, and crazy. Mentally disabled. Not being able to think straight.

Which wasn't really that difficult, strictly speaking, since he was just that. crazy.

In the end, he was nothing but a failed soldier, a failure, and a defect.

For days, he continued doing so.

They observed him for another week or so, before writing him off as a failure, officially. And instead of wasting more time on him, they chose to devote their efforts elsewhere and ceased the 24/7 surveillance.

This allowed him to relax a little.

As Hydra's attention gradually shifted away from him, only Sextus—that gay—and Fuckface were left. And even then, they weren't putting that much attention on him.

This was an opportunity for Nova to train his Evaporation in an unnoticeable way.

Sextus Dickthunder was not amused.

Not at all.

Exactly two weeks, and 6 days ago, they'd detected a disturbance in the space. The location of the disturbance was inside Queens. It had taken them roughly four days to track down the location. It was an old apartment. They didn't enter immediately though and had just observed for a few hours. There was no one but a young man inside. He was in his early twenties. He was asleep and did not wake up no matter how long they waited. They wanted to observe some more, to see if there were any dangers or not, but had to move when they saw that the anomaly had woken up, but more importantly, they were informed that S.H.I.E.L.D. was on to them, more specifically, the anomaly in space they'd detected.

Of course, S.H.I.E.L.D. had detected the disturbance long ago too, but Hydra's agents inside S.H.I.E.L.D. had kept them away, buying some time for Hydra. But it was not enough. And they had to rush in, and secure the anomaly. After securing the anomaly who was, supposedly, behind the disturbance in space, they scattered away. Lowered their heads to hide. And then transported the anomaly inside one of their bases.

The results were spectacular, to say the least. The anomaly, after thoroughly being brainwashed, had shown potential surpassing that of the Winter Soldier. And Sextus had been intelligent enough to inform his boss. The boss was intrigued by his claims and hurled some resources his way, and he used them well. He was happy with the results for a while. But then, Sub-Zero started showing signs of mental collapse. He wouldn't act how they wanted him to act. His bodily functions had stopped working or were faulty. His powers couldn't be summoned or were haywire.

He had deduced one thing; Sub-Zero's mind was gone because of the brainwashing. Angered and somewhat furious that his face had to get burnt just because of that the fucking failure, he contacted his boss, said that there was no need for any more resources and that Sub-Zero failed them, and he got demoted. Not that it mattered.

Now, he was getting tired of Sub-Zero.

He should just give his permission to dissect the fucking failure. Maybe they'd find something useful? And maybe that 'something' would help him regain his position? Yes, let's go with dissecting the fucker.

Sextus sighed and called someone.

"Hey, Simon, It's Dick. Yeah . . . I'm fine. Anyway, give that psycho the green light to dissect Sub-Zero. He was asking me repeatedly. Tell him he may dissect Sub-Zero. Yeah, that's it." He cut off the call, and then, hurled the phone away. It hit the wall and broke.

"FUCK!' Sextus kicked a chair away. He was angry. And he continued to vent for a long, long time.

Hydra had allocated so many resources to that fucker! And they'd gained nothing in return! Now, Sextus only hoped that the dissection of that trash would give them some clue to cracking the super soldier serum—the real one—or something else along the lines.

But even that would hate to wait since it would take some time before it got approved by the higher-ups. Normally, he wouldn't have had to get someone's permission to dissect someone, but Sub-Zero was different. Sextus had shown so much to them, that even they put so much interest in him. Now? he was sure the higher-ups wouldn't even bat an eye and approve, sighing in disappointment just after. Why wouldn't they? It wouldn't be the first time they'd gotten their hopes up only to be crashed. They had gotten used to it. And so, they would approve without giving it a second look.

Nova Frost would have to admit, Evaporation was a hard ability to learn. It was so fucking hard. It was difficult for Nova. He'd tested Evaporation for the past few days, and tried to vaporize other things. It didn't work. No matter how hard he concentrated. But then, he'd tried to use it on himself.

It clicked right away. Although it required intense concentration on his part to vaporize himself and turn into mist, he succeeded. It was a different matter how he couldn't stay in his mist form for prolonged periods of time, no less move in that form. He needed to practice some more. But that's one of the many problems. He couldn't really practice it. Sure, the eyes on him had decreased, but he was still being monitored.

And he couldn't fully show the ability to turn into mist. So, he had been only training it in small size. For instance, he was mostly focusing on vaporizing his fingers, and hands, since he could hide them for a minute or two without appearing suspicious.

But, the most prominent body part he used to train his Evaporation was a part that was mostly hidden behind clothes and couldn't be noticed that much from the outside.

His dick.
