15: Kitten [01]

Peter was getting worried.
So, he called her.
The call rang for a while but she didn't answer.
Peter bit his lower lip and decided to message her father.
Now, he knew he was being stupid. He was panicking (slightly) for no reason. She could just be not well today, and that's why she didn't come to school. But it was worrying for Peter, it didn't matter how stupid it might be on his part.
—
Me: Mr. Stacy?
—
Peter sent a message.
George was quite a good man, Peter had met him quite a lot, and the man was even supportive of Peter. He even teased Gwen about Peter a lot of the time. Peter was quite close to this man, so Peter never really bothered to hide that he liked Gwen.
George was mostly cool with it though.
Right... Peter wondered what he'd think if he knew what Peter did to his daughter.
After a while, George Stacy, Gwen's father, typed back.
—
Gwen's Dad: Peter? Hello. What's up? Is everything alright?
Me: Yes, yes… everything's alright. I was just a bit worried. Gwen didn't come to school today. Is she alright?
Gwen's Dad: Oh, I see. Gwen said she isn't feeling well today. She seems to have an upset stomach; been vomiting a lot. Other than that, she seems a bit out of it these past few days. Is everything alright between you two?
Me: Everything's fine. I was just worried since she didn't come to school today. She usually tells me if she wouldn't come, but she didn't today, for some reason.
Gwen's Dad: I see. If that's it, Goodbye, Peter. I'm a bit busy with a case.
Me: Yes, goodbye.
—
Peter put the phone away and sighed.
She was just ill. He was getting worried for no reason.
When did he become like this?
Anyways, Peter stood up and opened the bathroom door before going outside. He quickly made his way toward the cafeteria to eat. He was a bit hungry.

Yuriko Watanabe slammed the report on the table as she sighed and started rubbing her forehead.
The case was getting nowhere.
The burglar was too good at their craft.
Whenever she thought she was near the thief, she would find out that they were a few steps ahead of her.
Frustrating.
Even Silver Sable, who was also in New York looking for the thief, hadn't found them yet either.
"Captain," Yuriko began, only to be stopped as her captain, George Stacy, took out his phone, frowned, and typed for a minute or two before setting the phone aside and looking at her.
"Yes?" He asked her.
"I can't…" she hated to admit it, but she couldn't track down this thief.
George squinted his eyes at her.
He was going to say something when the T.V. in the room started broadcasting the fight between She-Hulk, Abomination, and a small man.
The fight was supernatural and too much for them to believe.
"The world's becoming weirder by the day," Captain Stacy muttered.
This news was from last night, and they had already seen it. Yuriko had her suspicions about that web-using person, and that suspicion turned out to be true when now, new footage was being broadcasted which was seemingly taken on a phone and quite near where the fight had taken place.
Yuriko blushed slightly as she remembered her master.
So, he was a superhero too…
Wait… he was a superhero!
Yuriko's eyes widened.
"Oh, Yuri, you were saying-"
"Sorry captain! I need to go! Important for the case!" Saying so, Yuriko stormed out of her office and quickly drove to the warehouse.
He'd asked her that he would help if she wanted.
Now that she was sure that she couldn't take care of this case by herself, she would just go and ask for his help.
…She wanted a good night as well.
'Damn girl, too deep.'
She thought, fully aware of herself.
But what could she do? She was already addicted.
She reached the warehouse and got inside. That's when she remembered. He said he would usually be here around 8 at night… fuck, she felt dumb.
'At least use your mind, Yuri!'
She cursed herself. She'd been too eager to come and meet him that she'd forgotten he would only be here at night.
So, Yuriko just picked all the files and info she'd gathered and put it in the warehouse. She would wait, while she worked on these files to search for more clues.

Back in school.
Peter got up and left the cafeteria after eating. He was pissed. Mary Jane was bothering him the whole time. Questioning him about his 'girlfriend'.
Was this bitch jealous? Why would she be jealous? Hadn't she dumped him? running off to the great Harry Osborn who'd land her a role as an actress?
Pathetic selfish bitch.
Though it was quite hypocritical of Peter, as he was a selfish bastard himself, he still felt it was pathetic of her to bother him about his 'girlfriend'.
"At least tell me who it is?" She asked, jumping in front of him as she squinted her eyes.
There was no one around them.
And Peter wasn't letting this chance go to waste.
"Mary Jane," He called her, his voice icy.
She flinched.
"Get out of the way. I am, in no way or form, obliged to answer any question or query you might have. For god's sake, we aren't even friends."
Mary looked offended, "Not friends!? I've been hanging out with some of my friends means that we are not friends anymore?! Are you still mad that we broke up!? Grow the fuck up, Peter! Don't be a pussy!" She huffed; her face red with anger.
"I just thought we weren't fit together! You never tried to change for me! Did whatever you wanted! So, I broke up, it's that simple! No need to be a bitch about it!"
Peter just stared at her.
"Is that what it is?" he asked calmly.
"What!?"
"That 'I' didn't change for you. And that 'you' thought that 'we' aren't fit together?" He asked, emphasizing some words.
He looked at her as if he were disappointed.
"You disappoint me, MJ." He said with a tinge of pain. He still likes her somewhat. At least the old Peter did. The old Peter had an unhealthy obsession with her. But the lingering fondness from old Peter vanished today.

"You left not because I didn't change, neither because we weren't fit together. You always did think of yourself as special. And I suppose Harry's offer was the last nail in the coffin."
"Peter… I didn't do it because of that!"
"Where were you when Uncle Ben died?"
Mary thinned her lips.
"Why didn't you attend Uncle Ben's funeral?" he asked her.
She didn't answer. They broke up long before Uncle Ben died. But she wasn't present on his funeral.
"I heard you had an audition that day." Peter looked straight into her eyes. He'd heard a rumor that she'd landed a role on the day of his uncle's funeral.
She flinched.
"P-Peter, th-that's not-"
"I understand, Mary Jane." Peter didn't let her speak. "You had the opportunity of your like in front of your eyes. And a little funeral didn't really matter when you could improve your whole life. Help your mom, and all that. I understand. I really do. You don't need to justify your actions. I just wish it was all worth it. Now, if you'll excuse me."
Saying so, he left.
His mood was foiled for no reason at all.
The whole school time went by, and soon, the bells rang. Peter quietly picked up his bag and got out of school. Ned was walking with him today.
"Peter,"
"Um?"
"What happened? You seem down."
"Nothi-"
"Oh, please, dude! Tell me! I'm your fucking friend for god's sake!"
Peter sighed.
"Well, I had a little talk with Mary Jane today."
"Huh? You still not over that gold digger?"
"Shut up, Ned."
"Come on, you're better than this! You don't need to think of some bitch from the past! We've got so many beautiful girls! Just look ahead!"
Peter chuckled slightly, and looked straight, only to stiffen slightly.
A girl was moving through the crowd of students, she looked somewhat annoyed. She seemed hasty to leave the school. Not only her behavior appeared quite strange to him, her dazzling white hair flowing behind her was eye-catching too.
"Hey, Ned," Peter called out to his chubby friend, pointing his chin at her.
"Who's she? I've never seen her around." He asked.
Ned looked in front with confusion, but realization dawned on him as he saw who Peter was referring to. Even in the crowd, she was quite eye-catching, after all.
"A transfer student. Third year, I believe. She's all mysterious and cold. Never talks much. And, from what I've heard, she's quite a vengeful person."
"Vengeful?"
"Yeah, she broke Flash's balls the first day in school. He'd hit on her, and she wasn't taking it. Flash was in the hospital for a week or so. Though his balls recovered; a pity, I tell you."
"Wait… why don't I know any of this?"
"Well… Uncle Ben had just passed then."
"Oh," Peter nodded, no wonder he didn't know of this.
"Her name's Felicia Hardy, I think."
Peter nodded as he stared at her leaving in a hurry. his gaze lingered on her juicy, and meaty behind for as long as she was in his sight. She was hot. And he was a pervert. That's it. Pretty normal, if he were to tell anyone.
"Dude," Ned drawled. "Don't."
"What?" Peter looked confused.
"She's way out of your league. She doesn't even like men, some saw her with different girls. Heard she's a Les. So, give up and focus on Gwen. You at least got someone, dude, focus on her. There are people like me who have nobody. I just go home. If I'm ever alone, I just like to go out in the garden, touch grass, cover myself in dirt, and pretend I'm a carrot."
Peter stopped in his tracks, turned, and gave his chubby fellow a weird look.
"What?" Ned asked obliviously. "I'm serious. You should try it. It feels… liberating."
"Yeah, sure." Peter rolled his eyes and started walking again.
"By the way, Peter."
"Yes?"
"Should we build my new LEGO Death Star today?"
"What?"
"I mean, come on. It's good for you too, you can keep your mind out of the gutter, especially after meeting Mary."
Peter shrugged, "That's cool, I guess." He could do that to distract his mind for some time. "How many pieces?"
"Three thousand eight hundred and three."
"Sheesh, Insane."
"I know. You wanna build it tonight?"
"Okay."
Peter said, but his attention wasn't really on Ned anymore. Why? Because he had noticed a particular black figure jump up on a building.
Peter followed them with his eyes as Ned continued talking.
"I'll knock out the bones of the Death Star in my place. I'll come by afterwards. For the most part, the difficult thing is the base of it. The top half we can knock out in two hours, tops"
Peter stared at the running and jumped figure in the distance. He wanted to go meet them.
"That'd be great." He muttered.
"Hey, Ned." He called Ned. "We'll talk later, eh?"
"Ok." Ned drawled.
"Thanks! We'll definitely build that Death Star!"
"Whatevs."
Peter and Ned did their signature cool handshake and parted ways.
Peter got into an alleyway, climbed up a building, and threw his backpack on the topest place he could find before he webbed it. Then, he called forth his suit. The clothing covering his right shoulder glowed from within and Peter was covered in his suit in mere seconds.
Peter ran, and jumped off the building, shooting webs as he started swinging toward where he'd seen the figure go.
Peter was sure who it was.
But he wasn't sure why he was chasing her for no reason at all.
But one this was certain.
He wanted to meet this universe's version of…
The Black Cat.
