32: George Stacy [02]

Gwen paled and dropped the books in her hands.

“W-What…?” she stuttered.

What was happening?

How did he know?

Gwen looked at the blonde woman.

Aunt Nancy!? Did she tell her out?!

Gwen’s stomach fell, and her heart squeezed, suffocating her.

Is he going to hit her? Yell at her? Be angry? Throw her out? But… where would she go then?

Gwen was quite literally, horrified.

“Are. You. Pregnant?”

“I-I… D-dad…” Gwen couldn’t form any coherent words.

Her dad nodded slowly; her reaction told everything.

“Okay. You’re pregnant?”

Gwen didn’t know what to do anymore, so she just nodded all while feeling as if a knot was stuck in her neck.

“Got it.” George breathed in, and out, quite hoarsely. Thinking about the situation was different, and acting on what he’d thought best was difficult.

“We’re going to get you to a doctor and get you some kind of prenatal care. Got that?” Nancy chimed in, helping George with the situation.

Gwen paled further.

“D-doctor??”

Are they going to force her to get an abortion?

“NO!”

Gwen said and jolted. She didn’t say anything; her mind wasn’t really thinking straight, she couldn’t think properly. This situation was a bit too overwhelming for Gwen. So, she just jolted and ran. Ran off away to a place they couldn’t reach her. She definitely didn’t want to get an abortion! No matter what!

“Gwen!” her dad and aunt called her, she could hear their voice, but she didn’t stop.

Gwen bit her lips as her eyes watered. Her hand wandered to her tummy. She… isn’t getting an abortion.

Never.

George cursed under his breath as he followed behind her. He could catch up to her, but he didn’t; that’d only make her panic more. Fuck, he should’ve let her sit down and get her nerves together first.

George followed her for a while and stopped when she reached and sat on a bench to catch her breath. Nancy was home; he’d told her to stay, that he’d handle the situation.

He didn’t approach Gwen. He waited. She needed to calm down and get her mind to the right place. They needed to talk. After a few minutes, as he noticed that she was a bit calmer now, George just walked up to her and sat down on the bench. Okay. No judgment.

“Gwen…” she flinched. “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything. But sweety, why’d you run away?”

Gwen looked at him; her eyes were teary.

“I don’t want to get an abortion.”

George was, for some reason, relieved by what she said.

“And who said we’re getting an abortion?”

“I don’t know… aunt said you were taking me to a doctor… so I thought,” Gwen didn’t finish.

George just got close to her and hugged her sideways. She stiffened at first and then relaxed. George heard a sniffle.

“Are you crying?” he asked, concerned. “Why are you crying? Everything’s fine.”

Gwen didn’t say anything and just cried in her father’s embrace for a little while.

“You’re not alone in this, my girl. No. Dad’s still alive. Don’t worry.” George said. “Mistakes happen, you shouldn’t allow any mistake, regardless of how severe it is, to make you feel you can’t recover, and still make something of yourself.”

“You can keep the baby. I’m not against it. Never will be. Know this Gwen, no matter what, I will support you, this isn’t going to change the fact that I love you. Never.”

“Raising a kid is no child’s play, and it wouldn’t always be fun either. Raising a child is tough. I know how tough it is, since, you know, your mom passed away…” he sighed. “Anyways, enough about this, come on, we need to go get you some Prenatal Care. We have a lot to talk about.”

Gwen nodded slowly.

“But before that,” George said slowly. “Tell me who’s the father?”

Gwen stiffened.

“D-dad-”

“It’s Peter, isn’t it?”

Gwen just nodded; she couldn’t be bothered anymore.

George sighed, narrowing his eyes.

“Call him over, we’re gonna have a talk after we get a check-up.”

“Harder!” Magik shouted.

“Okay, okay,”

Peter raised his hands up in surrender. He was, right now, trying to learn a spell. And it required quite a lot of concentration on his part, so, he was having a hard time. And he was quite annoyed with Magik shouting ‘harder’ every time he failed.

Peter sighed sitting down on the floor.

“If it goes on like this, you won’t learn it.” She berated.

Peter just ignored this so very annoying girl and took his phone out of his [Inventory].

Oh, Peter forgot there was no connection here. He sighed and put it back in his [Inventory]. Then, he stood up and walked to a certain building, he wanted to meet the Ancient One. He had asked her to make some things for him and asked for some spells he wanted to learn.

“I hope you prepared what I asked for?” he asked her once he entered and saw her sitting on her cushion, a cup of tea in her hand.

She raised an eyebrow, “Oh, that. Yes, yes, apprentice Parker I most certainly have.” She said as two things puffed out of nowhere.

There was a spell book and a bag filled with ‘papers’.

“Thanks,” Peter said, picking the things up before he stored them in his [Inventory].

The Ancient One was giving him a weird look, so he asked.

“What?”

“Nothing,” she sipped her tea. “Just wondering if you’d tell me about that dimensional spell you use now and then. Not to brag, but I am an expert when it comes to dimensional magic, and all that, but that spell is something I’ve never seen.”

Spell? What spell? Peter frowned under his mask before realization dawned on him. Is she talking about [Inventory]?

“Oh, that?” he questioned, taking out a book he’d bought on learning Arabic before putting it back in his [Inventory]. “I’m sorry, but I can’t really divulge this little thing. And I have a viable reason for not telling you this. But trust me, there won’t be any danger because of this.”

“If you say so,” The Ancient One sipped her tea. “Anyways, I have put all the spells you asked for in that book, they aren’t difficult, so you should be able to learn them. And there are those same spells cast on those papers. Just rip the paper while it is on the person’s body—the same person whom you want to apply that spell on.”

Peter nodded, “Again, thanks, I really needed these.”

“But I do need to warn you. It is better if you learn the spells and cast them yourself since the paper versions are quite weaker compared to the ones which are manually cast.”

“Will do.”

“If that was it, then off with you, I suppose.”

Peter didn’t remain behind longer than he had to, so, he just walked out of the building and teleported straight into his room. Peter threw his phone out on the bed, and then, he took out a paper as his suit vanished and his normal Peter Parker clothes—which he remembered he needed to change, his whole wardrobe, actually—came back.

Peter placed the paper on his head and tore it. Immediately, a golden light erupted before many magic circles appeared out nowhere around his head.

[Warning!]

[A Spell is being cast on the user! While it is an Occlumency spell against any mind-reading abilities, the system is obliged to warn the user and give a choice!]

[Would you like to let the spell be cast on you?]

[Y/N]

Sheesh. Peter’s lips twitched as he thought of [Yes].

[The spell has been successfully cast… the system was protecting the user’s mind so it was totally not needed…]

Peter was surprised… the system sounded a bit… grumpy?

‘I just need an excuse if someone did try to probe my mind. You can’t be revealed right now, right? You said so yourself.’

[Fine…]

After Peter was done with that, he just laid down on his bed to get some shuteye. It wasn’t exactly night yet and was around 6 p.m., but oh well, Peter was a bit tired-

-Dun dun Dun!

Peter sighed as his phone rang, he picked it up, only to frown as he saw more than a hundred missed calls.

…the fuck?

Peter immediately checked who it was.

“Gwen?”

Peter didn’t think for a second and picked up.

“Hey, Gwen, is everything alright? I was out of range, so I missed your calls.”

***

Gwen Stacy was feeling quite heart-broken.

She’d been calling Peter for a while now, and he wasn’t answering. At first, she really thought that it could be a signal problem. But after a few hours of wait—while she was getting her Prenatal Care—she was thinking that Peter had run away, leaving her alone to deal with everything.

She knew that it could be wrong, and she could merely be mistaking, and misunderstanding things.

Her dad, though, seemed visibly pissed at Peter.

And Gwen was worried about that too.

That’s when her phone rang, and she quickly picked it up.

~Hey, Gwen, is everything alright? I was out of range, so I missed your calls.~

Gwen sighed, the knot in her throat eased, and she got a bit relaxed.

“Hey, Peter, I’m fine. It’s just-”

George walked up to her and snatched the phone.

“Hello, Peter.” He spoke. “We will be coming to your house soon; we have a lot to talk about with you and your aunt.” Saying so, he disconnected the call.

“Dad?!” Gwen exclaimed.

“What?” George asked calmly. “He’s not going anywhere after what happened. We need to talk with them as soon as possible.”

“But he isn’t running anywhere!” Gwen huffed, feeling pissed for Peter.

“Then why hadn’t he told us anything? I found it through Nancy. Not by you, neither him.”

“Peter said he needed some time to think! He said he’d talk it out with you!” Gwen was getting quite irate.

And George understood it quite easily.

'…It’s the first trimester of pregnancy.' He shook his head; he won’t be angry at her; it was normal for women to have mood swings in their first trimester.

Anyways, they left for home after the doctor gave them some instructions. They were instructed to get Gwen a Routine Prenatal Visit every once in 4 weeks up to the first 26 weeks. So that’s what they’ll do. Gwen was given some medication, and then, she was discharged.

She sat down in George’s car before he did, feeling grumpy. George just shook his head, chuckling dryly as he remembered the first trimester of Helen, his wife. She’d been such a bitch in her first trimester, so Gwen was quite gentle in her approach, In George’s opinion.

Then, he pushed his feet down on the accelerator, moving towards Peter’s apartment.

Yes, they’re going to have a talk right now.

A very long talk.

***

As the call got disconnected, Peter froze, a horrifying feeling wrenching at his stomach and heart.

…fuck.

‘Please don’t be what I’m thinking,’ he thought.

He didn’t move and just laid there akin to a statue for God knew how long, but then, he got a message notification on his phone.

Gwen: Peter, dad knows…

FUCK!!!! (A/N: insert child support memes. Go wild.)

Peter instantly jolted up and stormed out of his room. He quickly got up to May’s room and knocked. He needed to tell her first, or she’ll just freak out. She wasn’t so emotionally stable these days, he knew, so he didn’t want her to have a heart attack. There was a possibility, and Peter definitely didn’t want to risk it.

-Knock -Knock

“May?” Peter called out, “Open the door, please.”

There were some rustling sounds coming from the other side for a while before May twisted the doorknob open.

“May, we need to talk about something.”

“Peter, we need to talk about something.”

Both said at the same time.

Peter was a bit stupefied, he looked at her; her appearance was quite haggard. Her shirt was a bit out of place, so were her hairs, and she was blushing slightly.

Peter squinted his eyes.
