<Samael POV>
Austin, Texas, US
Year 1988
I repeat.
School is boring if you've already learned and experienced it once.
Especially if they only teach you basic stuff.
If you don't know, I'm currently in 1st Grade. So I basically know everything they would 'teach' me here.
As for why I haven't moved up in grades? Well...
<Flashback>
"You should socialize with children your age Sam and enjoy your days of childhood!" Granny Lily said with a gentle smile.
"... Alright"
<Flashback End>
Yeah...
No one can say 'no' to that gentle old woman. (Plus I'm a child so I literally don't really have any say in the matter)
So here I am! 'Socializing' with 5 year olds.
By 'Socializing', I meant comparing which superhero is better. Batman or Superman?
"No Sam, Superman is wayyy better than Batman! He can fly and do anything! Batman is just a normal human!" Said Mark a fellow comic book enthusiast.
He's the nerdy kid of the class. The one who has glasses, is a redhead, a bit chubby and with freckles on his face.
In these years I have also grown up nicely. I still have chubby cheeks and cute face but I am one of the tallest in my class.
Oh! If you didn't know, DC comics existed here for some odd reason.
"But this is Batman we're talking about Mark! He can defeat anyone if you give him enough time to prepare! Plus he's the world's greatest detective." I replied while eating my sandwich.
Yeah... we were talking while eating during lunch break.
"But that doesn't count! He just has too much plot armor!" He whined a little.
Mark is what you would call as my best friend. We bonded over our love for comics and the rest of the nerdy things. So he has adjusted and copied a few of my 'modern world' mannerisms.
"The plot armor is his power!" I say.
"But admit it, Superman would destroy Batman in a direct fight!" He says.
"Okay... fine! I admit, Superman WOULD destroy Batman in a direct fight." I admitted grudgingly.
Mark does a little 'yay!' at his victory and then we move on to talk about various other things before the lunch break ends.
<Timeskip>
School ended and I rode the school bus back to the orphanage. Where we freshened up and Father Jack and Granny Lily started teaching us how to properly read The Bible.
We have just recently started these classes.

As for the matter of praying?
I was an athiest in my past life but after all the experience I have gone through, my view quickly changed.
I know the One Above All exists in this world. And he is THE God with a capital G.
And I'm grateful to him for letting me live my new life and not erasing me right off the bat.
So conclusion? I'm grateful so I don't mind praying and sometimes (one sided-ly) talking with him.
You just need to vent sometimes.
Plus, it also gives me hope when I'm feeling down.
That everything will be alright.
<Timeskip>
"Well well well... What do we have here? Little nerds. Now give me your lunch or else." Said the typical wannabe bully while showing his fist.
'Was that supposed to be threatening?' I thought because neither me or Mark were threatened.
The wannabe bully's name is George by the way, he is a bit on the huge side. I mean he is the same age (trust me I know) as us but he is both taller and larger in size than kids our age.
He has blonde brown hair and blue eyes. He's the kind of guy that would grow up to become a Jock.
If I was a typical fanfic protagonist I would have punched and bashed the child but even if my hormones effect me (sometimes) I still have enough of my adult mind to understand the situation.
"Y'know George, would you come play with us? We were just off to the swings to play."
Yeah. George was lonely. Kid's unconsciously isolated him because of his huge size. Some even made fun of him. So he kinda adopted the bully persona for attention.
We were just five year olds. We were kids. Now what kind of adult (mentally) would I be to take a 5 year old boy who probably had self esteem issues seriously?
"Really?!?" He said wide eyed.
"Yeah sure." I said and Mark too said 'yes'.
Mark was a bit shy with strangers.
"Yay! Let's go then!" He said with a huge smile then all three of us ran off to the swings.
At that time all three of us didn't know but this was the start of a beautiful friendship.

Done!
This was a filler chapter for me to practice writing interactions between MC and other characters.
This also serves to show the bonds MC has made in his time in his new reality.
As for the religion topic, it won't be mentioned much (tbh it would mostly be mentioned in the first volume then kind of fade out).
Sorry for the delay but as I've said before it takes me time to write a chapter.
Next Chapter- Chapter 4: Awakening Powers
