Chapter 2: Blood and Blade
The man wandered through the Jungle, blade in hand.
His life for the past few days was simply to kill, eat, sleep, and repeat. Sure, he had gained quite a few levels, more than he would ever gain in a decade normally, but now he can't just kill any random monster.
With every unsheathe, he had to kill monsters stronger than himself and let the blade drink their blood. The blade refused to be sheathed without it.
Even the monsters from before no longer satisfied the blade, with it rejecting the blood from them entirely, forcing him to wander further and further into the Abyssal Passage, in search of a stronger foe to defeat.
Masamune demanded a sacrifice, and when he couldn't find one, it took from him. Quite literally.
He learned that the hard way, with the sword piercing himself and devouring nearly a third of his blood before becoming satisfied.
Now using the sword sparingly, he simply bludgeoned the weaker monsters to death with the sheathed sword, which doesn't require blood thankfully.
Haggard and tired, he pushed through a thicket of jungle vines and shrubbery to find himself back where he had started, in the clearing where he met the sword.
"Fuck..." He sighed. Well, now he knew where to go from here. Just go straight and he'll be deeper within the forests.
Pushing past the sludge of mud and rotting corpses, he re-entered the jungle thickets, using the sheathed blade to push away sharper foliage.
He was almost having second thoughts about the sword. Sure, it was powerful, but it came with equally powerful restrictions. What if, one day, he became so powerful that nothing else would satisfy the sword? Would he be doomed to be a blood bank for the sword whenever he wanted to use it?
"No thinking about it now... it's my only ticket out of this hellhole." He muttered.
"Status" He commanded.
