High above the village of Asghar, two mighty figures collided, creating shockwaves and sonic booms. The fight lasted for a fraction of a second to the eyes of the mortals who dared to watch. Yet, the space around had already collapsed creating a tear in the world.

"Sect Master Supreme has improved a lot since our last duel. Alright, a demon's promise is bound to the heavens. The demon invasion will be held back for another 500 years."

The few immortals hovering above the space hurrayed in joy at the good news.

"Demon General Yathu, Why don't we stop this and bring about a permanent peace treaty?"

BANG…

A lightning descended from the heavens striking towards the sect master of the supreme sect, who immediately dodged thanks to his high cultivation. The lightning descended to the mortal world, striking the village of Asghar, burning the mortals within it to ashes.

"Divine masters, please forgive me." The sect master immediately kneeled in air as the sky ripped open ready to send the second beam.

"The village paid for your sin. This karma will be yours to carry." A godly voice echoed through the realm as the sky slowly turned back to normal.

"I'll take my leave." Demon General Yathu quickly disappeared, teleporting back to the demon realm fearing retaliation from the divine realm.

"Sect Master, your hair!" One of the elders from the supreme sect gasped looking at the rapidly aging hair of the sect master.

"It looks like my lifespan got severely cut short. Heaven's retribution isn't something we mortals can withstand."

He looked down to what remained of the mortal village.

"Find if there are any souls left. Nurturing them might be the only way for me to redeem myself."

The cultivators of the Supreme sect descended to the pile of ash one after the other.

"Sect Master, was it worth it?" An elder asked.

"Maybe." There was a slight glint in the sect master's eyes as he kept staring at the horizon.

"Sect Master, we found something." A cultivator called from below dragging their attention.

"His body is already crisp. How is he still alive?"

The sect master approached the lightning roasted human body and checked the pulse.

"Mortal stage 1 cultivation. No wonder. Sadly he's crippled for life. Bring him to the servant quarters."

The cultivators disappeared one after the other.

At the servant quarters, Supreme Sect.

The mortal woke up after three days of treatment. The wounds had started to heal and the girl in charge of the kid ran off to bring the elders attention.

On the rope cot, Mason sat up looking at the unfamiliar atmosphere. As he checked around, an old man entered the hut.

"Young one, be at ease. It's partially my fault you ended up like this. It's better if you hear it straight from me."

The confused look on Mason's face made his skin wrinkle.

"You are stuck at the 1st stage. As a compensation, I would like to hire you into my sect as a servant. Please consider it."

"Ah, ok." Mason said, trying to nod only to feel pain in his neck.

"Rest a little more. You should be able to join the servant ranks in a week. As for anything to help you with your boredom, feel free to ask Nasha." The old man pointed at the girl, who looked 15 years old.

"I bought her specifically to aid you in your future. I'm told she is well versed in all the skills required of a mortal maid. Consider it a part of my apology."

"All right. I'll leave you with her to figure things out." The old man walked out leaving Nasha and Mason alone.

"Hi." Nasha approached the Mason who was still in a daze. "I'm Nasha. Please feel free to let me know if you need anything."

Nasha started to remove his bandages gently.

"I'm Mason." Mason said suppressing the pain. He felt something burnt in his mouth making him want to vomit increasing his pain.

"Careful. You need a few more weeks to completely heal your injuries."

"Where am I?"

He asked the question burning in his mind. This world was too weird. It felt to him as if he had travelled to the 80s. Either that or he somehow ended up in some rural village in the Tibetan Plateau.

"The supreme sect." She looked into Mason's eye. Seeing no response. "Asghar village? Kalinga Kingdom? You really don't remember anything?"

'Kingdoms?' Mason confirmed one thing. He was definitely somewhere far away from his hometown. No, my previous hometown.

Mason's eyes went beyond the thatch doors looking into the light.

"You can't leave yet. Walking might not be possible till next week." She looked at the boy beside her and started to feel pity. "It looks like you have amnesia. I'll go get some food for you." She did a slight bow and walked out of the room.

Inside the Sect Master's Chamber, a few minutes later.

"Father, that kid is suffering from amnesia." Nasha kneeled on the floor before the sect master as she informed the situation. "So far he can only remember his name, Mason."

"Mason? Forget it." The sect master looked at Nasha and smiled.

"I hope my daughter won't be mad at me."

"No father. At least this way I can remain in the sect. It's still better than marrying any of those mortals."

"Are you sure? Even if Prince Goldfin is a mortal, he could still shower you with luxury. Here, everyone will mock you for the rest of your life."

"I'm a mortal too. I'm pretty sure I'll soon pass away."

"It is fate, my daughter. Maybe one day, your fate will open a path for you. I hope this Mason will shower some luck on you. He survived a Heavenly punishment. His fate is strong."

"I'll follow him, father. I'll let you know if anything strange happens."

Nasha walked out of the cultivation den and walked toward the servant quarters.

"Hey, isn't that the sect master's daughter? I heard she is a mortal. Why is she still in the sect?"

"I heard the sect master arranged for her to be the mincemeat's caretaker. The way I see it, the sect master probably brought him over to keep her within an arm's distance."

"What are you two murdering about? It's the sect master's daughter! Do you wanna get killed?"

"Yeah, I heard the elders punished an inner sect disciple for making her cry. You wanna be next?"

"What? You gonna tell on me? She's a mortal. She probably can't even hear us."

The gossip started to spread among the outer sect disciples and slowly reached the ears of the elders.
