“Use Cherry blood vessel.”
“But-”
“Even if something happens to her, just say that you were caught up during combat and didn’t think it through. Everyone knows your situation, they will be convinced. I and the other masters will pledge to reduce your punishment. It can’t be anything too serious. The most important part is you get to participate in Gudu. They wouldn’t send a severely injured girl there when there is a better option.”
“But-”
“Or do you think you can beat her? Your martial art skills are no better than any of the top rankers. This is why Fang Xin is stronger than you even though you two are equal in cultivation. Your new height is close to Tie Ren, but Fang Xin’s recent breakthrough put him around your new level, and he lost. Use your head.”
“But, master, didn’t you say she hasn’t completely healed yet? Also wouldn’t she be fatigued after the other trials? I should be able to win without having to use Cherry blood vessel.”
“At first, no one thought she could win so easily against Yin Lin, but she did. Then it repeated again and again with Shi Xin, Yin Yu, Li Gao, and Fang Xin. She had thrown every prediction so far out of the window. I hope she will be tired and wounded when she faces you, but we should not leave it to chance.”

“But, master-”With her back against the wall, I use the Thirty palms to prevent her from escaping. Having her where I want, I follow up with the Nine palms. The Nine palms are supposed to be nine attacks that occur almost instantaneously after another, but my intermediate level of skill leaves room for her to break three of those nine. Such fierce defence! Half of the time is gone. Should I use it?
Cherry blood vessel is a venomous technique. It’s a qi attack like Heavy qi blast that inserts one’s qi into the opponent. The distinction is Heavy qi blast is a move but Cherry blood vessel is a supplement to other techniques. I can add it to any hand technique such as Soundless Palm. Due to how subtle the Cherry blood vessel is, not even the masters can tell if I had used it without examining the body of my opponent.
Its effect is far milder than Heavy qi blast. It merely makes a cultivator harder to use their qi, but it lasts for much longer, hence, you can accumulate it in your opponent’s body far easier. The more Cherry venom in your vessels, the harder it is to control your qi flow. Your blood will get thicker and turn pink. With enough venom, they will paint your veins in the colour of cherry flowers. The blood clots will pop your blood vessels in various places, creating a pattern like cherry trees in the season of blossom. If the tainted blood isn’t let out, death is assured.
Of course, one can lessen the effect of Cherry blood vessel by neutralising the qi of Chery blood vessel before it affects their blood. It’s because the body is trying to offset and absorb the invading qi that the immediate effect of Cherry blood vessel is hampering their qi manipulation. However, Dong Yun An isn’t even at the ninth level of the Foundation stage yet. Without upper qi absorption, it would be life-threatened to her. Moreover, she is concentrating on the fight. Can she even realise the issue and focus on detoxifying the venomous qi?
As I was deep in thought, her fist erupts. Although I have already evaded, the shock blast knocks on my guard, pushing me back three steps. What- Just what had happened? Has she obtained a new height? During a fight? I sensed qi in that last attack. Could she finally know how to do more than just enhancing her body? This is bad. She exhausted herself in most of her fights and trials because she relies mainly on her physical prowess rather than her qi for attacks. If she knows how to use qi now, she can use qi to fill where her stamina is missing. I can’t let it go on.
I bombard the area with all sorts of attacks. A small amount of Cherry blood vessel is slipped in between them. Soon after that, a shard of realisation glares up in her eyes. Her fighting style becomes entirely defensive. The explosiveness of her fists barely presents. There are only qi in her feet, and even these are flickering like fireflies. She must be working on the qi venom.
Ever since, I injected that venom into her, our eye contact has never stopped. I looked away on a few occasions. However, whenever I return, those black and slightly-more-dilated-than-normal pupils stare straight into me. They are not vindictive. They are like the eyes of a greater person looking at a foolish child that had just stabbed her in the chest.
I, the child holding the bloody knife, spill words of sorry like a mantra. I am sorry. I am very sorry. Please, understand me. I am not doing it because I want to. I am…
Just then, her offence resumes. She appears to still be under the effect of my Cherry regardless how minor it is. Had she completely purified the qi? No, it couldn’t be that fast. Could it be- Could she be intending to end this fight swiftly by going full offence then recuperate later? No. Don’t do that. You won’t be able to do it that quick. Please, focus on neutralising the venom.
She isn’t listening. I have to do something. She will die.
I face one of her punches head on. My qi armour can only block half of its destructiveness before shattering. I grab the very hand that just hit me to prevent from being pushed back. I pull on that arm and get behind her. With my left hand on her shoulder and the other bending her arm backward, I somehow subdue her movement. I need to make every second count.
Hmm. What is this body? Why is she so different from others? I make haste to probe her inside.
Her body. It is so complex and massive. I didn’t get to see all the way, but I went as far as the Cherry went. I knew it. There were still Cherry blood vessel within her. I subtract it while fighting her power. It was exceedingly fortunate. I got them all before she broke free.
Her stare suspend in the empty space between us, probably examining her body status. She then greets me with a new look while I lower my eyes in guilt.
