“It is my pleasure to greet my fellow students on this fine day. I am Christopher von Theolas, crown prince of our beloved kingdom. But today, I stand before you not as your prince but as representative of the Royal Academy’s new students.”
His bright and cheerful voice reverberated across the hall, and the audience attentively followed every word of the kingdom’s greatest genius.
It would be difficult to find any person who did not know of the illustrious crown prince, as, even though he had just turned fifteen years of age, his inventions had already revolutionized the daily lives of his kingdom’s citizens. Stark among his achievements was the establishment of the ‘Regular Carriage Service’ for domestic travel and the motions changing the Commerce Guild to support low-income workers.
The prince was also quite the attractive boy with his delicate and lustrous black hair and blue eyes reminiscent of the ocean, and his androgynous face, not yet fully matured, appealed to both men and women.
Between his enviable looks and remarkable brain, and with the decisive personality indicative of royalty, Christopher von Theolas was the object of admiration to nobles and commoners alike.
…But they’re lacking the critical information.
“The heroine that becomes the Saint and saves the world isn’t here! What are we supposed to do about the Demon King’s resurrection?!”
No one would have guessed that after ceremony and in his private room at the royal palace… the prince would be ranting nonsense.
And in front of the door to the room, a tired Maxwell lets out an exasperated sigh as if to bemoan “Here we go again…”
Christopher managed to play the part of perfect prince during the entrance ceremony, so why did he have this kind of ridiculous outburst behind closed doors?
Indeed, Crown Prince Christopher, renowned as the kingdom’s greatest genius, would have complete behavioral breakdowns and lapse into unintelligible ravings. Maxwell, Christopher’s closest aide yet unable to make sense of the babbling, could do nothing to solve the issue.
At times like these, the only person who could snap him out of it… no, the only girl who could snap him out of it–
“Oh Your Highness, acting up again? What set you off this time?”
A girl suddenly appeared, approaching the door. With waist-length crimson hair and sharp jade-green eyes accentuating her well-propotioned face and plump scarlet lips, she exuded a charm that made her seem much more mature than her actual age of fifteen years would suggest.
The dress she wore covered up to the neck, but it did nothing to diminish her body’s voluptuous shape; her generous twin mounds, the firm waist, and her slender ankles peeking from beneath the skirt would inadvertently draw the attention of unsuspecting onlookers.
And most of all, her dignified expression gave off a charming aura that attracted much attention.
This was the daughter of Marquis Victirium, Annemarie Victirium, a girl that embodied a man’s ideal image of a woman, and she had come to the Christopher’s room at the behest of Maxwell.
“My goodness, he’s causing me this much trouble when I still need to finish getting ready for tonight.”
For some reason, only Annemarie, Christopher’s childhood friend, could soothe the prince whenever he worked himself into a frenzy like this. It was specifically for that reason that despite being a mere fiancée candidate, Annemarie had her own room at the royal palace.
Annemarie had been in that room preparing for the Spring Ball when she had received word that her escort, Prince Christopher, was having issues.
“Unfortunately for us, His Highness can’t seem to calm down. I must apologize; it seems we will need you to do as usual.”
Annemarie gave a tired sigh as she entered the room. After closing the door behind her, she set her spell to target the room.
“Keep calm and stay quiet, StillnessSilence.”
Annemarie spoke an unfamiliar chant to activate the spell, and a magical soundproofing barrier enclosed the room.
Having completely insulated the room from leaking outgoing sounds, Annemarie was now free to do or say whatever she wanted…
She took the sword from the decorative suit of armor sitting in a corner of the room, brandished it with a flourish, and began running at full speed.
“Take this!!”
“If Heroine-chan doesn’t show up, we’re all doo– Ugyaa!!”
A shameful screech ill-befitting the room and its occupants sounded across the room. Despite the volume, Annemarie had no worry about sound leaking out, so Christopher’s screams only served to encounrage her violence. So now it was time for her to really make him scream!
Christopher instinctively bent over to dodge the sword coming at his neck. However, as he was focused entirely on dodging the sword, Christopher was unable to control his own movement and thus slammed his head against the floor in the follow-through.
“Gyoooh!”
Seeing Christopher curling on the floor and spasming in pain, Annemarie beheld the prince with scorn.
“…How pathetic. It is simply unbelievable that the intended first playthrough love interest would be someone like this.”
“A-anna?! When did you get here?! No, wait, was that you? Are you trying to kill me?!”
“That would’ve been nice. Maybe then we’d get someone actually better to reincarnate as the Crown Prince.”
“Why do you keep saying these awful things!!”
But Annemarie casually religned and pointed her sword at Christopher, shouting back.
“You lack the candor and dignity of a “Love Interest”, Christopher! Or should I say, Kurita Hideki!!”
“And you’re supposed to be the “Evil Villainess” who’s soft on the prince, Asakura Anna!!”
Like Melody, these two were reincarnators of Japanese origin; to be exact, they were the idiot couple– no, the childhood friends that sat next to Mizunami Ritsuko on that fateful plane ride to England.
In a strange twist of fate, they too, reincarnated in this world following the plane incident.
It had happened when they were both the age of six: Annemarie Victirium was introducing herself as fiancée candidate to Christopher von Theolas when the two simultaneously regained the memories of their past lives.
When their eyes had met, each of their memories had come flooding back, and they instantly reocgnized one another.
“So what happened then? Don’t tell me, you actually missed the scene where you’re supposed to meet Heroine-chan?”
“Oh no, no no, it wasn’t my fault! I waited right where she’s supposed to show up, but she never appeared!”
In the face of Christopher’s lackluster excuse, Annemarie grimaced as though she had bit down on a bitter-tasting bug.
“What do you mean ‘she never appeared’? Based on everything that’s happened so far, we’re actually living in the world of “The Silver Saint and the Five Oaths”, and the game starts with that scene. Did you actually miss the event?”
“D-don’t get mad at me! It’s not my fault she didn’t appear!”
The otome game the two referenced, “The Silver Saint and the Five Oaths”, is the dating sim Asakura Anna, Annemarie’s previous incarnation, was addicted to.
In the game, the heroine lost her mother at an early age and wallowed in despair. During this time, her long-lost father appeared and brought her under his protection, and the heroine found herself suddenly jumping social classes to become the daughter of a Count. After she enrolled in the Royal Academy, the heroine would encounter various people, and her heart gradually healed as she got to know more people.
And it was during her time at the Royal Academy that the heroine would find love from among five prospective men. As she interacted with these men of differing ages and social standings, the heroine would rediscover hope and regain her will to continue living. In short, this was a rather faithful rendition of a typical otome game storyline.
As a side note, this game, “The Silver Saint and the Five Oaths”, was also the cause of Asakura Anna’s trip to England.
And this current world she lived in was very similar to the game world she was familiar with; from the names of different places to the existence of magic and monsters, even the kingdom’s history was familiar. But the most telling signs of all were the current incarnations of Asakura Anna and Kurita Hideki.
Asakura Anna had become Annemarie Victirium, the daughter of a Marquis, and her role was to be the heroine’s rival, the so-called “Evil Villainess.”
Meanwhile, Kurita Hideki had become Christopher von Theolas, the royal firstborn son and crown prince of the Kingdom of Theolas. In the game, his role was to be one of the heroine’s potential lovers, a so-called “Love Interest.”
It was not just their appearances and social standings that were identical; everything was the same as it had been in the game. While it was hard at first for the two, they ultimately had no choice but to accept that the world they currently live in is the world of “The Silver Saint”.
“…And that’s why we need Heroine-chan no matter what, but you still don’t seem to understand exactly how important she is.”
“But don’t you see? That’s exactly why I’m panicking here! If Heroine-chan never shows up, it means we don’t have an answer for when the Demon Lord’s resurrection happens!”
In “The Silver Saint”, the heroine had dialogue and action choices for players to select, and each decision would affect the plot. Since the game depicted the heroine’s school life, there were also many side events that occured, such as exam periods and festival events; it was no surprise that the game appealed to middle and high school aged girls such as Asakura Anna.
However, the game did not only depict the rose-tinted school life of a heroine flirting with her potential love interests; the game had plenty of typical RPG elements as if to answer “But what if I want to become the legendary hero that saves the world?” questions from fans.
And so the game’s back story included a “Saint” and a “Demon Lord”.
According to this back story, a heroic figure from long ago, the “Saint”, had sealed away the “Demon Lord”, but in the current day, no records of this timeworn event still exist. Regardless, as part of the game’s plot, the seal on the Demon Lord was to become undone when the heroine entered the Royal Academy.
And only the one who inherited the powers of the ancient Saint could oppose the Demon Lord and reseal it.
In short, that person was the heroine. However, since information about the Saint and the Demon Lord had long faded from recorded history, the heroine would not know she could actually wield the powers of the Saint; meanwhile, as the Demon Lord’s seal gradually releases, many incidents begin to occur throughout the Royal Academy.

And then, as though in response to the Demon Lord’s awakening, the dormant Saint powers slumbering within the heroine also begin to stir.
Then, at the lowest levels beneath the royal castle, the heroine would discover the “Library of the Ancients”, an area the royal family had long forgotten. It was there that the heroine would read the books explaining in detail her powers and responsibility as the Saint.
And finally, when the Demon Lord fully resurrected, the “Great Oath of the Saint” would activate, unlocking the heroine’s full potential and allowing her to exorcise the forces of evil.
Over the course of the game, the heroine would face off against formidable foes, mostly humans and monsters that the Demon Lord has manipulated. Along the way, the heroine would also have to deal with her rival, Annemarie, and even spies from the northern Roldopier Empire, should the plot come to involve them. The heroine would go through many struggles, but combat was overall a fulfilling experience for many players.
And so the heroine would continue to fight alongside the love interests, until finally the Demon Lord fully returned to life.
Just when it looked like the heroine was to meet her end, she would inadvertently swear her Great Oath, and the combined power of her Oath and her feelings for her love interest would awaken the true strength of her dormant Saint powers; it was with this final power-up that the heroine would defeat the Demon Lord and banish the evil.
“I will never forget the sorrow I felt that day, when my mother passed on. But even if I never forget… because you were always there… I won’t ever give in to my sorrow! That’s why I want to live… No, I will live! I will not lose to despair! I will be together with you, forever more!”
『…A great oath has been sworn to self and another. All conditions cleared. Granting the Blessing of Silver to the Holy Maiden.』
That was one of the final events in the game: the heroine swore an oath of determination and resolve to her chosen love interest, a voice from the heavens blessed her declaration, and her true power as a Saint suddenly awakened.
And with her newfound power, the heroine defeated the Demon Lord, bringing peace across the world. She would later graduate from the Royal Academy and then marry her chosen love interest; it was a Happy Ending for all involved.
So if this world followed the game world’s plot progression, the Demon Lord would inevitably resurrect, and defeating it would require intervention by the heroine’s Saint powers.
If not, the world faced total destruction in an unavoidable Bad Ending.
“…Here, look.”
“…What the? Why’s it like this?”
Annemarie handed over a copy of the Royal Academy’s new students roster. The name of the heroine, “Cecilia Reginbars”, was notably missing.
“Hey, if she’s not here, then what?”
“I already checked in with my contact at the Commerce Guild, but there have not been any reports of Count Reginbars ordering essentials for women. The Count should have been ordering at least daily necessities for his daughter by now, but if he has not been, then…”
“No way, it can’t be… Does that mean Count Reginbars… hasn’t found Heroine-chan yet?”
“Since you didn’t meet with her like in the game, then that is quite likely.”
“But we have Heroine-chan’s name, so we should be able to find her with a little searching, right? And we know her appearance: silver hair and lapis lazuli eyes. Those are unique features, so she should be easy to find.”
“Her appearance aside, knowing her name won’t be useful since she only received that name after the Count took her in.”
“I don’t get it, why not?”
“So you know that Heroine-chan’s mother was originally a maid working for the Count’s family, right? The Count doesn’t want to reveal those origins, and so he gives her a new name to avoid exposing her. We do know how she looks, but since the game glosses over the back story leading up to the start, we don’t even know where she’s from in the first place. The developers in our previous life were supposed to release a companion book that explained the missing details!”
Annemarie looked skyward in frustration. Christopher gazed downward in exasperation.
“I thought I could finally see Heroine-chan’s face in person, but why didn’t she show up?! I really wanted to see that cute, mysterious smile for myself!”
“…You really let yourself go when it comes to cute girls, don’t you?”
Annemarie snorted in displeasure at the dour-faced Christopher.
“Hmm, I wouldn’t say I love them, but I would prefer seeing that over watching the Crown Prince make such pathetic expressions.”
“Hey, aren’t you going too far, saying something like that?!”
“At the very least, just give me Lect-sama! I want to see my favorite Love Interest, Heroine-chan’s bodyguard, Lect the knight! Unlike the scrawny Christopher, Lect is both handsome AND muscular!.”
“You think you’ve got problems?! I’d much rather be engaged to Heroine-chan than you! Someone like Heroine-chan, who has a slender and modest figure, is so much better than a girl like you with all that useless fat!”
And with that one phrase, the argument escalated beyond childish bickering; Christopher had stepped on a dangerous landmine.
After all, insulting a woman’s figure was the worst kind of boorishness… and grounds for retaliation.
“Do you know how hard I have to work to maintain my appearance? My model figure?!”
“Gyaaah! That’s dangerous! You need to stop it, right now! What if I die?!”
“That’s the plan, so shut up and die!”
“Aiiieee!!”
In the heat of the moment, Christopher had forgotten that Annemarie still held a sword in hand, but to his benefit, Annemarie began a beautiful sword dance, just to remind him. The cost of the performance would be his life, so it seemed to be time for Christopher to run, and run, and continue running!”
Going back to why Annemarie came to see Christopher in the first place, how exactly does she calm his runaway ranting?
She does not give him gentle admonition, nor does she comfort him as a fellow reincarnator.
Instead, Annemarie would chase Christopher around, as though seriously threatening his life. While the main purpose was to have Christopher completely tire himself out, chasing him around was also a way for Annemarie to relieve the stress of her day-to-day life as a noblewoman.
Sometime later, the door leading into the room opened… a curious Maxwell was checking on the two.
“…What is it that the two of you were doing in here this entire time.”
“Oh, nothing really… I merely provided some comfort to calm His Highness’s agitated state.”
Annemarie was there to meet Maxwell at the door, but there was something… strange. A light sweat dampened her forehead, and her cheeks glowed red with exertion; she was breathing heavily, but she seemed to bask in contented exhaustion. Even to the female-averse Maxwell, Anniemarie exuded an alluring, exciting air about her.
Christopher, on the other hand, looked as though something had squeezed the life out of him. Like Annemarie, he was also out-of-breath and sweating heavily. He appeared to be trying to avoid looking at Annemarie, seemingly out of embarrassment.
After the door had closed earlier, a soundproofing barrier had formed around the room. But while no sounds leaked from it, the door and the room itself tremored violently. What in the world were the two doing in there that could cause shaking of this level?
“…So why aren’t the two of you officially engaged yet?”
Maxwell, as well as Annemarie’s personal attendants, always had that question in mind, but… it seemed neither Christopher nor Annemarie would properly explain things.
“That would not be possible, Lord Maxwell. For one such as myself to be engaged to His Highness…”
“Don’t even joke about that, Max.”
From there, Christopher remained in his room, while Annemarie returned to her own private room so as to reorganize her outfit and refresh herself..
“The two of them are always together, so why aren’t they engaged already? Why hasn’t His Majesty the King done anything? And what about the Marquis, too?”
In the game, the two were already formally engaged with one another by now, but in reality, the engagement has not progressed beyond the fiancee candidacy.
Maxwell, of course, had no idea that the two were working behind to scenes to stop the engagement from becoming official.
“…At this rate, if they get married, their first night together will end with someone becoming widowed…”
Achoo!
“Melody, that was such a cute sneeze. Did you catch a cold?”
“No, I am perfectly fine, my lady. Please do not worry about me; we need to have your dress refitted. Give unto my lady regalia, ResewingRicucitura.”
Regarding the origins of a certain Melody Wave, the black-haired, black-eyed maid currently working for House Luthorburg…
Her original appearance sported beautiful silver hair and shining lapis eyes. When her mother had passed, her mother’s will revealed the father to be Count Cloud Reginbars. When she swore an oath to become the world’s greatest maid, the heavens bestowed upon her their blessings and granted her the almighty “Maid Magic”.
If Annemarie had been able to read the game’s companion book in her previous life, she would have learned the heroine’s name from before Count Reginbars’s intervention: Celesti McMurden.
But at this moment, neither of the two reincarnators could have imagined that the girl who reincarnated as the heroine was casually enjoying her life as a maid and ignoring the game’s plot.
…The wheel of fate was already spinning out of control, even as the scenario of the world had yet to unfold.
