Release 30:
“But I-”
“NO BUTS! Do not try to figure it out until I say so. Do you want to ruin your body and internal energy beyond repair?!”
“Why am I not allowed to know how internal energy works in terms of particles? How badly will it wreck my body just to figure it out?”
“Do you really want to know the consequences if you were to have the realization right now?”
“Yes! You keep saying I’ll destroy my body and that I’m not ready to learn a certain technique! All I want is a straight answer, not some weird philosophical way of being told I’m too young!”
“Sigh… Fine. If you were to have that realization, you would have to enter a meditative state in which you were breaking apart your dantian and reforming it with the new knowledge you acquired from the realization. That process would not only cause your organs to rupture beyond healing, but also your muscles and bones will shatter, and not even the Transcendental Path’s methods of healing will be able to fix it.”
“Oh…”
“Yes, knowledge of the pain that will follow at the slightest mistake is a burden. Don’t assume that you’re ready to know something, because most of the time you will not be ready for the knowledge of incoming pain.”
“I… I’m sorry, Master…”
“It’s alright, you’re not in trouble. Just heed my warning and don’t try to unravel that mystery yet.” Myeol Mang sighed out as he raised his hand to snap his fingers.
“Wait Master, one more thing. Is it possible to absorb the qi within Fallen Star?”
“.....”
“Is it possible, Master?”
“Out of the hundreds of descendants that have met me, not a single one had come up with the idea of absorbing the internal energy that gets stored within Fallen Star. So why do you want to know about something so peculiar?”
“Well, it’s obvious isn’t it? I want to absorb the energy within Fallen Star and add it to my dantian. Since there’s a raid coming I want to be as strong as possible for when it comes.”
“Yes, it is possible to absorb the qi within Fallen Star. But for now you shouldn’t be focusing on your internal energy. So I’ll give you a task, if you manage to forge a sword within a week I’ll teach you how to absorb the energy within Fallen Star.”
“So, forge my own sword within a week. I assume that will be without your help?”
“Of course. It wouldn’t be a task if you had help.”
“Alright, and are you going to be following me around in the other world like you were earlier? Or are you just going to wait until I finish?”
“I’m going to watch you from the Transcendental Path. And I won’t be interfering with anything that happens.”
“Alright, I’ll accept the task. Now can you send me back to my room, Master? I’m going to go to sleep after I eat.”
“Alright, and good luck with your task Thomas.” Myeol Mang replied as he snapped his fingers, causing the Transcendental path to be replaced by Thomas’s room.
“Thomas! Are you coming to dinner or not?”
“Yeah, I’ll be there in a bit!” Thomas exclaimed as he walked over to his bed and placed Fallen Star back into its sheath.
‘I’ll be claiming your qi soon, Fallen Star.’
Thomas set the now sheathed Fallen Star down on his bed then turned towards his door and began to walk.
‘Hold on, I haven’t even thought about what type of sword I’m going to make. I could go with a medieval longsword, or a katana, or a classic Jian (Chinese straight sword). I think I’ll go with a Jian though, it’s the same type of sword as Fallen Star and It’ll make me stand out less when in Jianghu.’
After leaving his room and walking towards the living room, Thomas then smelled the air once more.
“Steak always smells nice when cooked right. So relaxing…”
“Thomas, hurry up! Or the steak is going to start getting cold!”
“Alright, alright. I’m here.” Thomas said as he walked into the dining room.
As Thomas sat down at the dinner table and began to put a steak onto his plate, David began to clear his throat.
“So, Thomas. You seemed rather jittery in your room a minute ago. What was that about?”
“Oh, it’s nothing really, I was just thinking how I usually do.”
“You’re still having those weird outbursts of theories? When are you going to outgrow that? I don’t even know why or how you get those outbursts…”
“It’s not weird dad, and I’m probably not going to outgrow them. Also those theories are extremely well thought out even though they’re made in such a short amount of time. When I get thinking about something that barely anybody knows about and try to fight it with existing knowledge I just go down a spree of connections leading me to what sounds like an absurd theory.”
“Yes, they’re well thought out. But you’re just connecting dots without solving the problems that come with those dots being connected. They seem well thought out at first, but only because you don’t see the issues with the theories when you have those outbursts.”
“And problems are meant to be solved when thinking rationally! Most of the time when I have those outbursts I’ll use it to make a theory or have a great idea, then when the outburst is done I try to solve the problems with it.”

“Thomas, honey, please calm down. We’re eating dinner.”
“Sigh… You’re right dear, we should calm down. Sorry for causing an outbreak at dinner.”
“Sorry mom.”
“You’d better be sorry, now eat your food. I don’t want to hear another word out of you until you’ve finished the steaks.”

“The mission seemed to be successful when I easily managed to breach the fortress. But the artifact was not there, my lord.”
“So the mission was a failure, and the artifact that I’ve spent three years searching for is still missing? On top of that, there seems to be trouble brewing with the Vanishing Demon and the survivors of the raid three years ago.”
“I’m unaware as to the Vanishing Demon’s affairs, but that does sound accurate, my lord.”
“Well, where else could the artifact be?”
The man whose face was hidden behind a veil then stood up and looked at a large map hung upon the wall.
“We’ve searched every single location nearby the village that housed the thieves, and searched every single spot of my libraries for the artifact. So where could it be?....”
“Sir, if I may inquire. Why did you send spies to the Vanishing Demon’s palace?”
“I was just following a lead. Apparently the Vanishing Demon is teaching the only survivors of the raid three years ago.”
“Then why are they not on the list of places the artifact could be?”
“Because we’ve already investigated them, neither of them had the artifact.”
“When was that search conducted?”
“A few days after the raid.”
“They could have acquired it after the search! And it would explain why the book hasn’t been found yet.”
“It might, but we’ll have to wait for Ri Seung-Heon, the spy who escaped the Vanishing Demon’s clutches, to deliver his report to me.”
“My lord, why did you even spare those two children? Don’t you think they would grow to hate you and try to cause trouble in the future?”
“I spared them because they were mere boys, too young to fight back against us, and as long as the spies we had follow them stayed alive, they would have never had the chance of learning martial arts or internal energy to try and fight against me later.”
“And yet there’s a chance the Vanishing Demon has been teaching them internal energy and martial arts currently. And I have no doubts that if he is teaching them that they will try to get revenge against you.”
“I know, it was a mistake on my part because I failed to think ahead. All of that is in the past now though, and as long as there is a chance that they are being taught by the Vanishing Demon there is a chance that they aren’t being taught by the Vanishing Demon.”
“But that still leaves the problem of the Vanishing Demon and the location of the missing artifact… Wait, you don’t think the Vanishing Demon has it do you?”
“There’s a chance he has it, yes, after all he’s the only person who’s been able to depart from the cult against my wishes and survive.”
“My lord, I think regardless of Ri Seung-Heon’s report we should raid the Vanishing Demon’s palace. It would not only bring us a step closer to finding the artifact, but it would also take care of the Vanishing Demon’s escape, and the possibility of the raid survivors rebelling against you.”
“Yes, that does sound like a good option… Hmmmm, Head Guardian. Inform the Phantom Blade Squad, Silent Sword Brigade and Illusion Fist Squad as well as the Twelfth Demon Star of the upcoming raid.”
“Yes, my lord.”

“Haaaaaaaaaahhhh, that steak was delicious mom, thank you for making it.”
“No problem Thomas, now you’ve got school tomorrow, remember? You should go to sleep sometime soon.”
“Yeah, I probably should. I’m gonna start a load of laundry before I go to sleep, so can you switch them into the dryer once they’re done mom?”
“Sure, and goodnight Thomas.”
“Goodnight Thomas.” David said as Thomas stood up from the dinner table.
“Goodnight mom, dad.” Thomas said as he walked out of the dining room and towards the laundry room.
After putting his dirty clothes into the washer and starting it, Thomas began to walk towards his room.
Thomas pulled out his phone and checked the time before thinking, ‘It’s nine-forty eight, I have to get up around six-fifteen. That gives me around nine hours of sleep, so nine days in the other world. This should be good.’
After entering his room and moving Fallen Star back to its home underneath his bed, Thomas then flopped onto his bed.
‘Nine days of training in the other world.’ Thomas thought as his eyes slowly closed.
