Sigh… Fine, it’s obvious you don’t want me here right now so I’ll leave you two alone for a while. But you’ll be thanking me later for what I did.” Myeol Mang said coldly as his body disintegrated from within Thomas’s room.

“I doubt I will.” Thomas replied as he wiped the dried blood off his face.

“Seriously! That son of a bitch knows no bounds when it comes to getting what he wants.”

“Well he wasn’t lying about a couple parts, mainly the part about me wanting to absorb the qi within Fallen Star.”

“About that Thomas, why did you want to absorb the qi within Fallen Star?”

“The raid is coming soon, mom.”

“The raid? What do you mean?”

“The raid. The Demonic Cult is coming to siege Jin Tang’s palace for something or someone.”

“You’re having to deal with a Demonic Cult raid? Seriously Myeol Mang what the shit?”

“Myeol Mang didn’t cause the raid to happen outside of normal conditions. It all happened on it’s own after a Demonic Cult spy broke out of Jin Tang’s torture basement.”

“Okay hold on we’re going to come back to that. First off, how did you even get Myeol Mang to teach you how to absorb the qi from within Fallen Star?”

“Well, I won a bet against him.”

“You won a bet against him? What was the bet?”

“The bet was that if I could properly forge myself a sword within a week in Murim then he would teach me how to absorb the qi within Fallen Star today after school.”

“And you won that bet…”

“Yeah.”

“Thomas.”

“Yes?”

“Please don’t take any more stupid risks like that.”

“How was that a stupid risk?”

“Because Myeol Mang has ulterior motives! He’s using you for something, I can just feel it. And earlier was no different, I wouldn’t be surprised if him bursting your veins and meridians to get the toxic materials out was a part of his plan.”

“Alright alright, I won’t make any more bets with Myeol Mang. But setting that aside can we get back to my main problem at hand, the Demonic Cult raid?”

“Ah right. So can you explain to me how all this happened with the Demonic Cult?”

“Well, I don’t know everything about the incident but basically there were a bunch of Demonic Cult spies being sent to watch me and Sung Ho’s training, and one of them managed to survive Jin Tang’s torturing sessions and escaped, now we’re preparing for the potential raid that’s gonna come in a little less than three weeks.”

“Hmmmm, that’s a rather weird turn of events. It’s not like Jin Tang to mess up when interrogating someone. But I assume since there’s only three weeks until the potential raid that your training got sped up?”

“Yeah, well my training didn’t get affected that much since I was going to learn blacksmithing around that time anyways, but Sung Ho’s training got sped up entirely, he was even given and Shaolin, Temple Pill after he formed his dantian so he could catch up to me.”

“Hmmmm, that’s rather concerning actually. Thomas you said the discovery of the impending Demonic Cult raid didn’t affect your training that much, why is that?”

“Well, that’s because I had already completed my physical training by then. I’m already in the Realm of Acceptance. And after what just happened I’d say I’m about halfway to the Realm of Truth.”

“Thomas, don’t treat the Realm of Truth lightly, opening your governing or conception meridians is not an easy feat, and it’s something your body is definitely not ready for yet.”

“Wait, is that what Myeol Mang stopped me from doing a minute ago? Open my governing or conception meridian?”

“Yeah, you were trying to open the conception meridian, which would have hurt like hell if you had managed to touch the blockage within the conception meridian with your internal energy.”

“Well I won’t try to touch that for a while then. Besides, I think I need to get used to the new addition of qi to my dantian.”

“Alright, good luck with that Thomas. I’m going to go back to cleaning.”

“Have fun mom.” Thomas replied as Lilly walked out of his room.

Thomas then locked his door and grabbed Fallen Star off the floor, only to examine the considerably dimmed blue line of qi running down the sword.

“What am I going to do now? I don’t trust Myeol Mang after that stunt he pulled, but I can’t learn the Seven Heavens Sword without him. And there’s no point in going back to the memories right now since I’d just be wasting precious time there. Hmmmmm…”

Thomas slid Fallen Star into its sheath then dropped into a lotus position on his bedroom floor.

‘I think I’ll spend my time going over the Foundations of Heaven and Earth until it’s time for dinner.’ Thomas thought to himself before taking a deep breath.

---

Knock! Knock!

“You called for me my lord?”

“Yes, come in Head Guardian.”

“What is it you wish to talk about my lord?” The Head Guardian asked as he entered the Heavenly Demon’s chambers.

“How’s the progress for the raid coming along?”

“It’s going smoothly my lord. Everything should be prepared for the raid to start by the end of next week.”

“Hmmm, good work. Now, what has Ri Seung-Heon been doing?”

“My lord, Ri Seung-Heon recently had a jump in internal energy, I believe he ate a spiritual elixir or herb from the storehouse or from a mission he partook in.”

“How far has his internal energy increased?”

“It’s jumped to roughly the Realm of Truth level, but he hasn’t had a realization or opened either the governing or conception meridians, so he’s still in the Realm of Acceptance.”

“Hmmm, it seems like he ate either a Hundred Year White Flame Root or a Hundred Year Ginseng Root.”

“If that is the case then Ri Seung-Heon may be the one responsible behind the third missing White Flame Root from the incident a few years ago.”

“If that’s the case then I need to give him a reward.”

“My lord! That was a valuable spiritual herb grown specifically for the future Heavenly Demon! And you’re saying we should reward him for keeping it?”

“Great Guardian, I’m rewarding him for three reasons. First, he managed to hide this third White Flame Root from not only you, but also me for several years. This proves that he can be far more useful in hiding items that need not be found again. Second, he didn’t disobey his orders. His mission was to reclaim TWO White Flame Roots from that Mount Hua disciple he once called friend, it was just a chance that the disciple had a third root on him. And third, it shows that Ri Seung-Heon isn’t afraid of death, as he took the third root despite the fact that if he had been discovered, you would have killed him right away.”

“I see, what should we reward him with?”

“Hmmmm, let's give him a martial arts book, what type of weapon does Ri Seung-Heon use?”

“He uses fists and a blade, my lord.”

“Hmmm, give him an intermediate level Realm of Truth martial art. And make sure to make a copy of the book you give him so we don’t lose knowledge.”

“Yes, my lord.” The Head Guardian replied as he bowed towards the Heavenly Demon.

“Go give him his reward now, I have to take care of something alone.”

“Of course, my lord.” The Head Guardian replied as he began to walk out of the room.

‘This Myeol Mang brat, why do I get the feeling that he’s going to be a dire problem for me?’

---

“Thomas! Dinner’s ready!” Lilly yelled from the kitchen.

As Thomas heard his mother’s voice calling for him, he let out a sharp exhale causing the hue around his body to dissipate.

“Alright, I’ll be there in a second.” Thomas replied as he stood up off the floor.

After unlocking and opening his room’s door, Thomas walked out into the living room.

“What’s for dinner?”

“Chicken, fried rice and broccoli.”

“Is dad going to be here?”

“No, he has to stay late up at work tonight, so it’s just you and me.”

“Ohhh, so could we discuss what I should do in the Murim world then?”

“I guess. Though you should really figure that out for yourself.”

“Yeah, yeah. We don’t have to talk about it, I’ll figure it out before I go to sleep.” Thomas said as he sat down at the dinner table.

“You know Thomas, what Myeol Mang had said about you earlier was actually pretty interesting.”

“Oh? What did he say?”

“The first thing did was he explained what you two were doing, and emphasized that you were the one who wanted to absorb the qi from Fallen Star, not him.”

“Funny thing is, I’m apparently the first person in our ancestry to have the idea of absorbing the qi gathered within Fallen Star.”

“He mentioned that too, which is surprising considering how large the Myeol bloodline is.”

“How large even is the Myeol bloodline?”

“Incredibly large, and most of us have access to the memories and the Transcendental Path. I’d probably say there are over a hundred people in our bloodline right now who are just discovering our bloodlines powers.” Lilly replied as she placed a chicken breast on her plate.

“So there are probably others in the family going through the same thing right now?”

“I’d bet a hundred years of my internal energy that there are kids in our family going through the same thing as you are right now.”

“Damn, that much?”

“Yup, though I don’t think any of them are as strong as you are right now.”

“Haha, probably not considering Myeol Mang saying I was a special case.”

“When’d he tell you that?”

“When he told me the truth about the Murim world.”

“The truth of the Murim world isn’t that big of a deal. It’s a cruel and unforgiving world where you can only rely on yourself and the few you trust.”

“No not that truth of Murim, he told me that my experience with the Murim world was different because he made everyone there real.”

“What.”

“Myeol Mang basically told me that my version of the memories was a real world in some far off galaxy that could support life.”

“So everyone in your version of the memories is alive… Including Mi Yeon, Seo Jun, Sang Chul, Seok Hwan and the others?”

“Yeah. They’re all alive and have their own personalities.”

“......”
